Separate Flights To And From Dubai Without Exiting For Check-in Baggage. Possible

How should I handle my baggage when I have two separate flights?

Yes, you shoudl look at changing your second plight to a little later - you ALREADY saved money, so just accept this. AND - there is a passport app you can get that is supposed to really speed up your transition thru customs and immigration. MOBILE PASS, I think it is called (phone not with me now.) When we changed planes in Finland going form JFK to Warsaw a few years ago, they did all this electronically - all the Americans were looking around like " This is IT?? we're DONE??" And now - even easier, because instead of machines that looked like an ATM - it's an APP!!! If this saves you any time, it is worth it. I have not had a reason to use it yet - put it on my phone because I saw an article about it, but then I think I removed it to save space for other things - and will reinstate it for my next international trip.

I hope you have all *spinner* luggage and also know all the smart tricks for packing, carry-ons, etc. I have a jacket with 12 hidden pockets, and am a TSA trusted traveler, and I carry a Health Back purse with another 8 pockets - so I am well-organized. ANY minutes we can save, really adds up. Have a great trip, and asking HERE shows you are really thinking about the best way to do this. Here's one more suggestion - SHIP your big bag from Moscow to Chicago. Less to carry and worry about! We did that coming home from Italy one time - just went to the Rome FedEx office. NO exactly cheap then - have NO idea what it costs now - but might be worth investigating, if you are comfortable with that.

How much luggage I can carry in Indigo flight after check in using mobile, please see details?

Check in doesn't mean you can carry extra weight or more boxes. Its simply avoiding the big queue at the airport. Mobile or online check in allows you to book a seat, get a boarding pass(e-pass) to enter the airport. You still have to get a paper boarding pass for security check stamp. So technically its like confirming your journey to the airlines that you wont miss the flight.Coming to weight, above answers have mentioned it clearly about it so nothing to add. You cannot exceed the limits on normal fare. 1-2kg deviation is allowed but not every time. Hand luggage is normally not weighed but dont carry big bags. Try to fill small bags with bug stuff so that they will not see the weight. I do the same and it works perfectly to me all the time.

Can I get into my next flight without entering the country?

Yes you can.Once your plane arrives in KUL and you disembark your plane, follow the signage and walk to the Transfers Counter. From the farthest arrival gate, it would take probably a 5 minute walk to this counter. There you will be issued with a boarding pass for your next flight to Vietnam. The Transfer Counter is located before the Immigration Counter, so you will not need to do any passport control.Collecting a boarding pass at the Transfer Counter is a much simpler and faster process than a normal check-in at the Check-In Counter.Having just a backpack, with no checked baggage will also work in your favour because you need not collect any checked baggage at the Baggage Claims carousel, which is *after* the Immigration Counter. At the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), if both your arriving international flight and your departing flight into Vietnam is at the Satellite Terminal Building, the process could even be faster, as you need not change terminal, which would require you to board the aerotrain. If your boarding pass says Gate C, that you would beat the Satellite Terminal Building.I would say that if your arriving flight arrives on time at 3:00pm, you would have sufficient time to catch the connecting flight to Vietnam.

If I have connecting flight, will they transfer my checked-in luggage from one aircraft to another, or do I have to re-check in it?

It depends. If you have one ticket (and note a ticket is not a reservation - a reservation may have more than one ticket) *and* the airlines have what is called an interline agreement (basically they sign up to accepts each others tickets and switch bags) *and* the checkin clerk tags your bag to say it needs to go to your final destination and what the connecting point is *and* the arriving flight is on time then, yes, bags should be through checked. In answer to your specific questions provided you have one ticket your bag should be through checked between AA and UA. However, I don't believe GoAir has an agreement with Jet. You should therefore allow sufficient time between those flights so that you can collect your bags and then recheck - that will take longer (probably much longer) than in the USA. An hour or two won't be enough. I would allow a minimum of 4 and if I could manage it more (even if that meant a night stop).I just had another thought. In 1978 I flew London/Frankfurt/Delhi/Kathmandu. The first two flights were Lufthansa and the last one Royal Nepal Airlines (as it was then). Lufthansa tagged my bag all the way to Kathmandu. When I arrived in Delhi I had to clear customs and immigration (no transit lounge then) and then check in again with RNAC. The check in agent asked if I had a bag and I said “yes it was tagged through from London”. “Come with me he said” and took me through all the outbound checks without stopping anywhere to the international departure lounge. “Can you see your bag?” After a moment I spotted it and we retraced our steps and he took the Lufthansa tag off and put a new RNAC one on. The bag arrived in Kathmandu. Have things changed in Delhi? Probably. Could the same scenario exist somewhere else in the world? Quite possibly but I don’t know where.

Can you retrieve your luggage at Charles de Gaulle without a transit "A" visa or the Schengen visa?

In all international airports - as far as I know - you have to pass immigration first before you can go to the baggage claim area. If you’re only transiting, your luggage needs to be checked in for your final destination, not for the transit airport.Otherwise, you will need a transit visa to pass immigration and pick up your luggage, then check in again for your next flight.

While having connecting flights, Can I check in earlier, drop the luggage & go into city for work?

If you have connecting flights via Delhi and they have issued you the boarding pass for both the flights, the I am afraid you wont be allowed to exit the airport due to security reasons. If you have to go into the city for work, you will have to buy two separate tickets i.e Kolkata-Delhi and then Delhi-Vadodara. Which means you will have to check-in twice once at Kolkata and then at Delhi. So you will have to collect your check-in baggage on arrival at Delhi, exit from the airport for your work, come back within stipulated time and again check-in from Delhi to Vadodara.

Am I allowed to exit the Airport, being a transit passenger?

The key here is this: Once you go through immigration and get an EXIT stamp on your passport,  you cannot exit the airport till you get the ENTRY stamp of the next country; no matter how many intermediate stops you make.Being an Indian Citizen you are free to go out of the Delhi Airport on either legs of your journey, because both the times, you will be going through the immigration at Delhi Airport; because it is in Delhi that the international leg of your journey starts/ends.Suppose you are traveling from Chennai to Frankfurt, the MAA-DEL flight is a domestic Air India flight departing the Domestic Terminal of Chennai Airport. You do not go through the Immigration at Chennai.  Now if you get yourself checked in at Chennai all the way to Frankfurt and book your luggage for Transit to Frankfurt, (you will have to check that because some countries require you to claim luggage and check it in again at Delhi for security reasons; for eg. USA), you will have to go through Immigration only at Delhi before boarding your next flight. Because the international flight originates at Delhi, you go through Immigration at Delhi; and BEFORE you do, you are free to go out of the Airport as you have already completed the previous flight. After your Delhi sojourn, you can come back to the Airport, enter the terminal, go through Immigration and proceed to your International Flight. Once your passport gets stamped EXIT, you cannot leave the airport after that. Likewise on your return journey. If however, you go through Immigration at Chennai Airport, you cannot exit at Delhi. If in doubt whether you can exit the airport, always ask yourself "Have I been through the immigration already?". If the answer is no, you can exit any airport. If the answer is yes, you cannot. Hope it helps.

Can I book my luggage on Domestic Flight for my international flight?

It's going to depend on two factors -- whether the domestic and international flights are on the same ticket, and whether the airlines are the same or different.

If the flights are on different tickets, then the chances are good that you'll have to claim your bags in Houston and then recheck them onto the next flight. If they're on the same ticket, then the chances are better that your baggage can be checked all the way through from Dallas, but that will depend on whether the flights are on the same airline or not as well.

If the flights are on the same airline and were purchased as a single ticket, then it is definite that they will transfer your luggage to the second flight for you. If you're flying on separate airlines, whether they will transfer the luggage will depend on whether those two airlines have interline baggage agreements. If the agreement exists, then your bags can be transferred for you, but if no agreement exists, then you must claim your bags yourself.

If your flights are on separate airlines, you'll want to check with them to see whether an interline baggage agreement exists.

If it's cheaper to buy an international flight that goes through the city you want to fly to, then is it possible to buy that flight then skip the rest of it?

I think you are asking about a route like New York/London/Paris where New/York/London is cheaper than New York/London/Paris.Not using the London/Paris sector has a number of issues. First, it will only work if you do not have checked baggage. The airline will insist on checking it all the way to Paris and you won’t be able to retrieve it in London. Next, if this is a round trip (e.g. New York/London/Paris/London/New York) when you don’t board the London/Paris the airline will cancel Paris/London/New York and you will have no recourse or refund. You will have to buy a new ticket to get back to New York. Airline contracts effectively say you will use all the flights in the order shown on the ticket. There is another, more ephemeral, issue. If you are a member of the airline frequent flyer club and you want to collect miles the airline will be able to see what you’ve done. Do it once and they’ll put it down to an error. Do it enough times and the rules of the frequent flyer club may well allow them to cancel your membership and with draw ALL your miles (not just those for London/New York).
