Setting For Zombie Story

Whats a good setting for a zombie story?

A zombie story set in the skies over the Pacific Ocean in a zeppelin in the 1930's. The zeppelin full of commercial passengers and military personnel cannot land due to the infection on the ground and ends up over the ocean. With nowhere to escape, the zombie infection is discovered on the zeppelin.

Any Good Zombie Story Ideas?

Well, I'm in a creative writing story class and I want to do a go good story on a zombie quarantine. I'm a good writer, but I'm just seeking out some ideas from others, ideas? Character Names? Settings? Thanks Guys and Gals

Whats a setting of a story?

the setting is the place , time, (era) and background of events. like, during the civil war or whatever. the plot is a brief summary of the story. make sure you include the cast of characters, in the order they appear.

Best setting for zombie story?

Try writing it in a mall! There's a variety of places and items there that can aid your characters in the story. If you plan on giving your characters weapons, make sure that you state where they obtained the weapons from, because surely a mall wouldn't have any. It's not like the zombie infection is only in the mall, it's all over the city, but your characters could have chose the mall as a shelter for themselves, but eventually a whole lot of zombies came in, and now they have to fight for their lives.

If you want to stick to the classic horror movie setting, I would say in a small town or a swamp. I could see how this would be easier to write than at the mall, but you can do many different things if it takes place at the mall, and it will give readers something new.

Any tips for someone writing a zombie apocalypse story?

Oooh, this is a challenge. I love challenges. First off, I think it depends on if you have one sole protagonist, or if you have many characters that band together to fight off the undead. To be a bit different, instead of starting with the very first zombie to ever be documented attacking a character, I say start it somewhere after the apocalypse has already begun, maybe not with the characters you're working with, but innocent civilians that are trying to escape, that end up killed or infected. And to introduce your characters, it could start with them reflecting back on their first zombie encounter, but fast forwards to the present to show now that they know how to evade/kill them.

Ideas for a short romance story during a zombie apocalypse?

They get stuck in a shelter together. Maybe it's something one of them made. Generally, the guy would be the hunter/outdoorsman/survivalist.

A twist on survival stories is to set it in the country. I know a lake miles from the road that I plan on heading to if things get bad. I hike to it regularly.

It would be funny if she was a popular girl at school, and had never given this "hick" a second though. And not she's counting on him to simply eat.

Looking for the name of a zombie movie where at the end a daughter and mother are hiding in stone tombs as a horde of zombies tries to get them?

I am Legend. 2007 Near the end of the movie, a mother and daughter are hidden behind a stout wall as the zombies break in to the protaganist's (Will Smith) lab. A bomb, set by the protaganist goes off killing all except the pair protected by the wall. The mother and daughter escape the next morning (in this zombie story the zombies cannot be subjected to sunlight or they will perish). Omega Man (1971) and Last Man on Earth(1964) are based on the same story.

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse novel. Do you have any tips, plot suggestions or common mistakes I should avoid?

Have fun and write what you know.  I published a ZA novel last year (Brutal Planet) and am working on a second, it was a very interesting experience for someone who had never written fiction. The above answers are all correct in particular your novel should not about zombies per say (unless you protagonist is a zombie) but about us and what we do. Read and watch all you want (and you should) but don't try to mimic. This is your story, write what you want to write! BUT PLEASE, PLEASE don't make it the start of another trilogy or series(unless you have a unique kick ass story that needs serious ink to tell it).The other thing I learned the hard way is edit, edit and then edit some more. I published through a smaller press and they just don't have the resources (the novel was edited in house). I should have dropped some coin and sent it to a professional BEFORE I sent it to a publisher. Also, don't count your pages or feel like you have to have a certain amount of words to write. Write only enough to tell the story. I have read novels where it is obvious the author is shoveling in filler to get to the 100K word count (mine was 121K). I would love to talk. If interested you can find my contact info at the bottom of the BP Amazon page. If you read the reviews you see whybe  editing is so important. Good luck!
