Short Sharp Pain Left Side Of Head

Sharp pain in the left side of my head?

It is a form of migraine. There are several types. Stop with hippy medicine. Most headaches are due to malnutrition. You may think you eat enough but look at what you eat and make sure you get enough of everything, including sugar and fats which some people leave out thinking that's how you get to look like Mary Kate Olsen. You need to eat healthy especially now that it sounds like your stressed. It makes it even more important. I feel for you in your families pain, but diet is always 90% of health problems. Now if it continues and you actually want to get some relief, go to your doctor and ask for Tramadol. Its a low acting painkiller that works wonders for migraine patients. My mom use to cry her's were so bad and then they gave her that and never heard a problem again. There are several different medications the doctor may try if it doesn't work at first. Also from where you describe your pain, theres a good chance it is associated with your ears, do you listen to music loud or with earphones, do you talk on the phone a lot or with bluetooth (doesn't make a difference) are you congested right now in your ears, nose, throat? The pain you have is in your temporal lope which is associated with your ears, so anything affecting the ears can cause this. Or it can be totally unrelated. Icing can greatly help, either where the pain is or on the back of the neck where the head and neck join. Migraines are in essence blood vessels that expand to large and cause difficulty in circulating blood/oxygen quick enough. Sometime to help increase oxygen you can use an oxygen tank if you have access to one. Best of luck and find time to go to the doctors.

Sharp pain on right side of my head?

A sharp shooting pain means you have only a few muscles pinched or tight in your neck so the pain is much more concentrated than if you had a bunch of them pinched. You can get rid of the pain by releasing the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds.
for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling.

What causes a sharp pain in the right side of my head?

Headaches can cause a dull throbbing or an intense ache and pain in different areas, including the right side of your scalp, base of your skull, and your neck, teeth, or eyes. While headaches can be uncomfortable, they are unlikely to be “brain pain.” The brain and skull don’t have nerve endings, so they won’t cause pain directly. Instead, a wide range of factors can affect headaches, from lack of sleep to caffeine withdrawal.Causes of headaches on the right sideHeadaches are most commonly caused from factors like:stressfatigueskipping mealsmuscle problems in your neckmedication side effects, such as long-term use of over-the-counter (OTC) pain medicineInfections and allergiesSinus infections and allergies can also cause headaches. Medication overuse headaches tend to be worst upon awakening.Occipital neuralgia: There are two occipital nerves in the spine of your upper neck that run through the muscles to your scalp. This pressure can cause other symptoms such as vision impairment, shoulder or hip pain, jaw pain, and weight loss.Trigeminal neuralgia: This is a chronic condition that affects the nerve that carries sensation from your face to your brain. The slightest stimulation on your face may trigger a jolt of pain.Other causesMore serious causes of headaches that can occur on only one side include:traumaaneurysmtumors, which can be both benign or malignant (cancerous)Only a doctor can diagnose the cause of your headaches.

Stabbing pains on the left side of my head?

I woke up this morning, and right after breakfast I was getting ready to go to the store and right before I walked out I got this sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my head above the eye but the whole left upper side, not really the back side. It hurts like hell when it does occur, but then it goes away for a few minutes, maybe an hour and it's back again. Sometimes it's like a sharp stab pain other times it goes up gradually and then it goes away.

Any thoughts? I will go see my doc tomorrow. What could this be? It just started today. I can bare the pain, it just sucks when it happens without notice it's almost like my left eye gets blurry from the pain and I get all sleepy. Like right now, I will go take a nap haha. I'm so tired =[.

Thanks!

Painful headaches on the left side of my head?

It's almost everyday I'll get this painful headache starting on the left side of my head and then it'll sort of travel into the middle after some time. They can last for hours and I start to feel sick and very faint.
I'm 16 and it's been going on for about a year now. I have took painkillers before for it but they'll only work for so long until the headache just takes over again. I have been to a doctor and she said that I should drink more water and get early nights rest and excerise etc. and she didn't prescribe anything at all. I've drank more water and it doesn't take it away and I've always had trouble sleeping. I won't be able to get to sleep 'till 2-3-4 o'clock, just tossing and turning so I've always had to listen to music. Now, I do wear earphones but it's at a very low volume. My mum says it's nothing, probably a migraine or something but she won't even get me anything to help it. There's never any painkillers anymore or ibruprofen or whatever and my dad is always like 'it's nothing stop complaining' and I'm here in pain like 'right..' :L I've said I think it's migraines to them both but they say 'you're to young', which doesn't make sense because anyone can get them, really.
Does anyone have any idea what it could be?:L I've got one right now and I feel like I'm going to faint or something and it's been like this since I woke up which was at half seven-.- it's painful.
Thanks.

Why do I get random sharp pains in my head?

Every so often I'll get a random sharp pain in the top of my head, adjacent to my ear. It's usually on the left side, but sometimes it happens on the right. It's just a sharp pain. It almost feels as if someone is directly poking the top of my brain with a needle, but it only lasts a second or two. I first experienced it once when I was only 10, but it stopped until recently. I'm 18 now and the needle is back. It happens sometimes weekly, monthly, or every few minutes. I believe the intervals to be irrelevant because they're so unpredictable. I've heard that it might be stress, but that wasn't a professional opinion, so I don't know if I believe it. If you have a medical background or for some other reason know what you're talking about, please help me understand this. I'm not worried, but I'm very curious and frustrated.
