Shots And Spray For My Kitten Help

How much does it cost to take kitten for shots and checkup?

I would call around your local area and ask, they will be more than willing to give you that information. I live in Florida and I just took my 16 week old kitten for his second round of shots. The first visit was 68 and this one was 35. It costs a little more if they have worms and need medication. Most babies have worms.

Do we HAVE to get kittens/cats their shots? what happens if we don't?

If you skip vaccinations you run the risk of them contracting disease should they come into contact with an infected animal.

DID YOU KNOW "DECLAWING" IS TEN SEPARATE, PAINFUL AMPUTATIONS OF THE LAST DIGIT OF A CATS FINGER including bone (third phalanx), dorsal ligaments, flexor tendons, connective tissue, blood vessels, nerves, claw, and fur as these pictures and diagrams from the Textbook of Small Animal Surgery and then real surgery pictures reveal?
Warning: what follows are pictures showing what declawing actually is. If you are disturbed by graphic photos, these may not be to your liking. No surgery is pretty, but declawing is a surgery that is one of owner convenience only. Unlike spaying and neutering, there are no direct health benefits for the cat.

My Kitten has tape worm!!!! Help!?

You'll definately want to vacuum all over. Segments of tapeworm fall out and look like dried up rice and can reinfect your kitten.

I can't remember if there's a type of spray or not, I would ask your vet when you go tomorrow. A shot or pills should kill the worm in her, and you might want to keep her quarantine while you clean the house. Maybe even ask if you can keep her at the vet over night while you scrub. Good luck!

When should my kitten get his shots?

That is the link to the US Humane Society: they can guide you to the right places (vets) in your area.......I'm in So Cal, and for The Girls, (Sophie and Gracie), they go in once a year for shots.......and for both of them, the exam, shots, and nail clipping is about $100.......But, that's for 2 cats.......

And BE SURE to ask the Vet about Feline Leukemia vaccinations: Number 1 killer of kittens........

Will a distemper shot calm down my kitten?

Hi there,

You have a kitten on your hands. Kittens behave this way. They are balls of energy wrapped up in a fur coat. He is not crazy! If he wasn't behaving like this I wouldl be very concerned.

8 week old kittens are really young, and should still be with their mothers, actually. Just two or three more weeks would give him more time to become more socialized and mom would be teaching him a thing or two.

Give him some toys to play with, and a scratching post on which to climb and use his claws. Do not let him use your hands or fingers as a toy. If he starts biting you, which is his instinctive play, put him on the floor and pay no attention to him. You will have to repeat this a lot, as kittens have short memories.

Vaccinations have nothing to do with kitten energy. Your kitten may become a bit less active as sometimes kittens have a slight reaction to vaccinations, but vaccinations only serve to prevent illness and are an essential part of good cat care.

He will get a bit less rambunctious as he gets older, but he will be very active for many more years to come.

Enjoy your kitten and play with him with toys. He will enjoy that and bond with you.

How Can I Get My Kitten OUT of Samurai-Attack-Mode?

We have a kitten we rescued not too long ago. She's due for her second set of shots next week so I believe she's about 8 weeks old...roughly. Anyways, she's constantly wanting to play which is fine but unfortunately it's not just gentle rough-housing...it's full on biting and scratching, mostly biting.

We tried bopping her nose and telling her No! in a firm tone but that only seems to provoke her to try harder. We tried pushing her away, ignoring her and walking away from her...instead she follows us and continues no matter. Luckily she doesn't really go after my 3 year old, she runs FROM her instead LOL.

We've tried everything we could think of that might help apart from crating her and the spray bottle technique. I was told the spray bottle technique either doesn't work or should be a last resort as it's supposedly cruel?? We were going to just wait and ask the Vet at her shots next week but I thought I'd ask the yahoo community in the mean time.

I cannot remember going through this when we had kittens when I was growing up but we had like 5 kittens so they roughed each other up instead of us I guess. Any suggestions that can help us teach her she's playing too hard would be greatly appreciated.

Help! No matter what I do, my cat's fleas won't go away.?

I have two strictly indoors older cats. My roommates, who I have since evicted over this mishap, brought in a stray kitten. The kitten is now gone, but it left the house and my pets with fleas.
The cat I am most concerned about has had two doses of frontline, antibiotic and steroid shots from the vet, a pill from the vet, capstar pills, a pet shampoo bath, and natural sprays. This has been over the course of several months. I STILL see live fleas crawling on her!
I've been keeping up with laundry, vacuuming, linens, and have used several types of carpet treatments, including powder and two types of sprays. My other cat still has irritated skin, but I haven't seen any actual fleas on him at all.
I've even tried tricks I found online like salt, vinegar, etc.
No matter, what I do, I can't get them off her. It's like they're resistant to everything. I just don't know what to do, and I feel so bad for her. She's had everything that's supposed to work, but none of it has.
