Should 13 Year Old Watch R-rated Movies

Should 13 year old watch R-rated movies?

I'm doing a Argumentative Speech in my English 4 class in my topic is, Should 13 year olds watching R-rated movies? I help with writing more questions to go long with my speech to ask and answers too.

Can a 13 year old watch R rated movies!?

You can. It's normal to be curious at your age and try pushing the boundaries. Don't make it a habit. But you remind me of my own daughter when she was a couple of years younger than you. She got home from school two or three hours before I got home from work. I had an old horror movie on tape that she found and watched. Alone, which makes it so much worse. When I got home she was terrified and wouldn't tell me why because she thought she did something horribly wrong. It eventually came out.

Can a 17 year old watch r rated movie?

I'm 17 years old. Can i go see an R-rated movie?. I want to watch Spring Breakers next Friday. I invited a 16 year old. So do we still need to bring an adult. If possible?. I don't have an id. But will my permit work?. I just recently renewed my permit two months ago.

Can a 16-year-old watch an R rated movie?

I mean, it all depends on your maturity level and what the movie is rated R for.Movies can be rated R for dropping on F-bomb, and, in this day and age, there is no way a 16 year old has not heard that and worse obscenities several times a day.Another reason way movies can be rated R is for graphic violence/gore, in other words you see at least one guy get beheaded/chopped in half in clear view. Most 16 year olds should be able to handle this.More reasons for being rated R is substance abuse, ok, so the kid sees a actor/actress shooting up or smoking a blunt, it’s not gonna change the 16 year olds view on drugs, if he/she does not do drugs, a movie is not gonna convince them otherwise and vise versa. Another reason is nudity, which is the one really concerning point for a 16 year old watching R rated movies and when the maturity aspect of it comes in. For a movie to be rated R for nudity it, first of all its actually showing stuff, not like in PG-13 movies where everyones junk is covered but its implied they are naked. Also, it is going to be a reoccurring thing and/or in a sexual nature. So, it is really up to the parents to decide there, if you are ok with it and think your 16 year old is mature enough, sure, if not, nobody blames you, just choose a different movie or fast forward through the naked stuff. In the end, there are different movies which are rated R for different reasons, I saw saving Private Ryan and the benchwarmers (which I believe is rated R for the type of humor and language) all before I was 15, saving privet Ryan before I was 14 actually, But still have not seen nor want to see Fifty Shades of Grey and I am 17, so yeah, there are different types of R rated movies and its really up to the parents/the maturity of the kid.

Can a 13 year old watch a rated R movie if they're with a 17 year old?

No, a 17-year old can not buy a ticket for a 13-year old for an R rated movie. The person buying the tickets has to be 21 or a parent. I was 29 when I took my younger sister and a couple of her friends (with their parents' permission) to see "American Pie" and I had to show my ID to buy the tickets.

Would you take a 13 year old to see a R rated movie?

I've taken my 8, almost 7 and 5 year old to and R rated movie. Of course, I usually try to see the movie myself first. But I can tell my kids are mine. My girls love the Child's Play collection, Annabelle…. Yup my girls like killer dolls… Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Resident Evil… that's only a few off the top of my head. My son likes zombies, Killer Clowns from Outerspace (I watched it for almost a month straight day in day out) and pretty much anything else I watch. But it's all up to what they like and you allow. I mean, the Child's 13… but personally I see nothing wrong with it.

How old do you have to be to watch a rated r movie?

No one under 17 without a parent or guardian. That is the law but is is often broken by the theaters.

An R-rated motion picture, in the view of the Rating Board, contains some adult material. An R-rated motion picture may include adult themes, adult activity, hard language, intense or persistent violence, sexually-oriented nudity, drug abuse or other elements, so that parents are counseled to take this rating very seriously. Children under 17 are not allowed to attend R-rated motion pictures unaccompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about R-rated motion pictures in determining their suitability for their children. Generally, it is not appropriate for parents to bring their young children with them to R-rated motion pictures.

Can 13-year-olds watch R-rated scary movies?

Depends on their maturity level and how willing the guardian is to let them watch it (probably at home and not at the theater, unless they sneaked in). When I was maybe five or six, my parents let me watch their criminal investigation shows (NCIS, Bones, stuff like that) all the time, and that meant witnessing a lot of dead bodies and murder reenactments. It didn’t bother me much; my dad liked to show us horrifying and disgusting things all the time for laughs (autopsies, animals taking dumps, inappropriate jokes, etc). So, yeah, it’s dependent on the kid.

17 year-old daughter is watching R-rated movies. What do I do?

My daughter turned 17 recently and goes to the movies with friends every few weeks. When she was 16 and younger and wanted to see R rated movies, she couldn't because she was not old enough to go without a parent, and I would not go with her because she doesn't need to be exposed to that. Now that she has turned 17, she has started going to see R-rated movies with her friends (who are also 17). I don't know what to do. She is a very good kid, 3.8 GPA, in sports, nice friends, doesn't drink, virgin, doesn't smoke, extremely well-spoken and intelligent, and has a very mature outlook on life... but I don't want her exposed to questionable material while she is still under my roof. There is no reason why she should see drugs, violence, sex, nudity, and filthy language for entertainment. What do I do?

If a 15 year old picks an R-rated movie to watch with his family, is it up to one of his parents to make sure that the film doesn't have anything inappropriate, i.e. sexual content?

It is up to the parents. Some parents really don’t care, others are more concerned about graphic violence than sex.If you think about it, very few people are ever in situations of graphic violence in real life. Most people go through their lives without ever killing another person and rarely, if ever, get into fights. Unless they are first responders or ER workers, they don’t see the results of accidents or shootings or other crimes.Yet, nearly everyone falls in love and has sex at some time in their lives. So, why are we so concerned about movies that show people getting undressed and going to bed, yet, consider it perfectly normal for a movie to have dozens of shootings, explosions and car wrecks?
