Should A 13 Year Old Girl Have Her Own Laptop

What is the best laptop for a 13 year old?

i would suggest the Asus EEE PC... this cute little guy comes with:

Intel Celeron M 900MHz
7' monitor
4 OR 8 GB SSD
802.11b/g wireless
webcam and microphone
full QWERTY keyboard
USB ports and (i think) VGA out
512MB OR 1GB RAM
Linux / Windows XP Home

and it costs much less than a full-fledge laptop, should be more than enough for a 13-year-old

Do You Think a 11 year old should have his own laptop?

I don't see why this should be any different than TV or video games. Look at it this way: you should be monitoring what your kids watch on TV and what video games they play, just as you should monitor what they do on the computer - kids should not be allowed to spend all their free time watching TV or playing video games, and the same goes for a laptop.

My 11 y/o daughter is allowed to use the computer for education, games, e-mailing her friends, etc., but her activities are monitored by the parental units, and she knows it. It's all a matter of being involved. The same would hold true if it were a laptop.

Should a 13 year old girl have her own laptop?

About a month ago, my father bought for me a computer to use for my projects and schoolwork. Currently there are no projects due for me because I don't even have the software for my projects. But I do my assignments and most work from school. However, my parents thought I was spending too much time on the internet, looking at nonsense videos (what's wrong with entertainment?!) and the worst thing is they said I do not study at all. However, that is not the problem. Recently about a week ago, they broke my computer and threw it away and it was so devastating. They thought I didn't do my studies at ALL and i've been on tumblr and youtube way too much. Until today, I couldn't control my feelings and hatred towards them. For now, i'm saving up money for a new laptop + a graphics tablet to work on my artwork. Is it fine for a 13 year old girl to buy/have her own laptop? Is it the right time? Because I really can't function well without the internet after having support of it for 6 years.

* When I had problems in my life, internet cheers me up.
I'm scared my parents would touch my hard earned money-saved laptop and threw it away again? Please help!!

My 14 year old son wants a new laptop; what should be his budget?

TL;DR: About $1500 to $2500. Think about future proofing for 3+ years instead of going under average budget.Long Version:To arrive at a budget, it has more to do with what your son wants to do than what features it have to add up to such budget.Over the years of running a PC gaming company, I would assume that your son wants to play games on laptop, watch YouTubes, maybe explore some coding and computer stuffs for fun. After using many laptops for the past 17 years, and some first generation Windows desktops in the ’90s, I’ve developed an experience of what a 14″ kid would want in a laptop. Some criterias to consider:Preferred Screen Size14 Inch: I choose 14 inch specifically because it makes it easy for your son to carry around, while having big enough screen size.Full HD 1920x1080: I don’t understand it when people need 2k or 4k for casual gaming. The higher the resolution is, the more battery it drains. Additionally, Full HD is more than enough for gaming in 2017. Keep that in mind. Don’t go higher.Weight4.4lbs or less, preferably less than 2kg (without charger)I used to own an Alienware M11X R2 and various laptops of various weight. I found that if a laptop weight less than 2kg, it’s very compact to bring around.Which OS do you require?Preferably Windows 10 Home. No need for Windows 10 ProBudget:Budget includes a laptop, not any other peripherals like headphones, mouse, etc…For the past few years years, I’ve always enjoyed a budget range of $800 to $1200 for my laptop. However, I’ve learnt that with my gaming, productivity and multi-tasking needs, I have to raise the standard and budget for it.As of right now, I increase my budget range of purchasing a laptop to $1750 -$2250 because I figured out that this budget range fit the laptop specifications that I need.Using that thought process, I’ve came up with 3 options for your son:MSI GS43VRGigabyte Aero 14The New Razer Blade 2016Enjoy!Source: Been playing games since I was 3 years old, and founded a gaming startup Emily Labs

Is it smart to give a 12 year old boy a laptop?

Yes, definitely. I saw a 4 year old navigate her mother’s iPhone, through the apps and movies, faster than I ever could. Not even talking about the internet, he’ll need to be computer savvy. If you don’t know enough to teach him, you and he, should sit down with a knowledgeable friend.I agree with others here, talk to your child about responsible internet usage. You could be depriving him from things like the FREEhttps://www.khanacademy.orgImagine him getting a jump on his classmates.Kids don’t just own a calculator any more, they use places like Computational Knowledge EngineWikipedia, although a huge resource, it’s just a tiny aspect of Wikimedia .Does he like outer space and astronomy?StarTalk Radio Show by Neil deGrasse Tyson - Science, pop culture & comedy collide on StarTalk w/ astrophysicist & Hayden Planetarium director Neil deGrasse Tyson, comic co-hosts, celebrities & scientists. There are totally free but incredible apps/tools like Stellarium for any type computer. Let’s not forget places like NASA Image of the Day Gallery if he wants amazing photos for his computer’s desktop/wall paper. There are many apps to restrict a child’s access. Some are easier to set-up than others, but offer the same level of protection. I’m highly biased towards Macs. All I know are the stories from my siblings and their not-so-happy experiences with non-Mac computers.Macs have an integrated set of System Preferences called “Parental Controls”. It monitors the computer system-wide. Apps and online purchases as well as the internet. There is no need for a separate app. He’s 12 and yes, I’m sure he’s curious about all of the porn he’s hearing about. He’s well within puberty, discovering his new tools. He’ll probably receive images coming from his friends. To continue with the space analogy, you’ll never be able to blow up or stop the massive asteroid that’s the internet porn, but you can divert it before it arrives. Take a preemptive strike by talking about what’s there; it’s all fake acting, the young adults forced to do it to make money to feed their kids. Many teens watching it waste their whole life on there, never meeting anyone real. Tell him you trust him to do the right thing.Protect what you can, but you’ll never stop the meteorite. If you try to place a list of draconian rules on a teen, it will be the best incentive they have to do it. “It must be good if she’s trying to hide it.” Teach them so they will want to avoid it themselves.

How old should a child be before getting their own laptop? My 11 year old keeps asking for one, but it makes me nervous.

My dad gave me an old laptop when I was 9 or 10 years old.He and my mom didn’t bother to supervise or monitor me at all. I signed up for all kinds of strange websites and lied about my age. Summer breaks consisted of me trying to make new friends online. I’d give out my real name, email address, location and hobbies/interests to any body who claimed to be a girl my own age. Personally, I faced lots of cyberbullying by older teens. Imagine being at the sweet innocent age of 10 years old, and a self-claimed teenage boy urges you to commit suicide just because you’re “annoying” to them. This person threatened to kill me if he ever met me in real life, and that my own parents would love him more than they loved me. Later on, I got into several fights with an admin on a video game because he disabled my account for being under the age requirement. I picked up some bad habits that I’ve learned from my previous encounters, and became a bully towards other people myself. The admin then permanently banned my whole account for death threats. Lastly, months later, somebody directed me to go on a porn website. I was a young child who witnessed all kinds of sexual activity by then. Not only that, I definitely met some pedophiles and child abusers at some point in my Internet adventures.Don’t do it. I listed so many reasons why you shouldn’t let them have their own laptop. It will destroy their innocence and childhood.

How old were you when you got your first laptop? :)?

hey me too! but our schools provided them for us. it was the iBook G4. it was so much fun playing on the dashboard and finding pictures for stickies! unfortunately, we had to return them back in the end of school :(

My 13 year old son wants a gaming laptop for his 14th birthday; what should be his budget?

Don’t even bother with a gaming laptop. If the sole purpose is for gaming, then get a desktop. Much better performance and bang for the buck. Also, spin it into a good life lesson. Have him build is own PC.The Best PCs You Can Build for $300, $600, and $1200Here’s a link to the type of PC’s you can build with example price points. You can decide its quality from there.
