Should A Computer Under Warranty Be Sent For Repair Still If It Seems Fixed Now

My car is still under warranty but I lost the papers, how do I get my vehicle fixed under the warranty?

Your vehicle information should be stored in a computer under the file of the warranty company and any shop that honors those warranties should be able to type in your vehicle info and see what is covered under your warranty.

HP laptop base warranty?

I have sent a couple of Laptops in to HP for normal warranty repairs and have had an absolute excellent experience.
Usually the process begins with you sending an email to the HP support team(LAPTOP_SUPPORT_EN@mail.support.hp.c... explaining the issues you are have with your computer. They will ask you several questions about the problem and ask you to perform a few troubleshooting test. Do the best You can in trying to perform these test, and after you have attempted these request without success they will start the process of bringing your computer in to their facility resolve the issues. One thing to remember is that when you do report and explain the issue/problem you are have you need to be specific and enumerate each and every problem you are encountering; they will only address/fix the problem you report.
If you did register your computer within 30 days of purchase from an authorized retailer of HP products your warranty covers any problems you may have with this computer for a period of 1 year from the date of registration. You must have registered your computer online or by snail mail within this 30 day period for the warranty to be in force.
The "standard" Hp warranty does not cover any damage to your computer do to dropping /spillage of liquids, or neglect on your behalf. If you paid extra for for an ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE warranty virtually anything that happens to your computer is covered , and HP will repair or replace it with a comparable model or the same if available or not discontinued.
Once you have been approved for a repair HP will send you a prepaid box via FEDEX so that you can send them your computer free of charge. Once they receive it they will determine the issue and if it is not the result of your neglect they will fix and return it to you by FEDEX free of charge. If the damages sre determined to be due to you they will call you and tell you how much it cost before they repair it and get your approval($250-$350)
It normally takes about 9 days for repair and return from my experience.

If I'm still under warranty, can I have my PC rebuilt for me just to "renew" the components?

I perform warranty repairs on behalf of Toshiba, so I can explain to you a little bit about how warranties work. The exact terms, of course, will be found in the warranty booklet that came with your computer, but here are some general principles. The purpose of a warranty is to give you a guarantee that your computer will continue to work for a certain period of time. If a physical component of the computer should fail within this period of time (typically one year), it will be replaced. Warranty service is therefore reactive rather than preventative in nature. Computer manufacturers don’t go looking for ways to spend money. Even if there is a known design flaw, they will frequently replace it only if it fails, and not if it might fail. The replacement parts that are installed in warranty service are not always new. Frequently, especially for core components like the motherboard, the replacement parts are refurbished. So getting your PC rebuilt by a warranty repair wouldn’t necessarily “renew” its parts.Parts replaced under warranty generally are only guaranteed to work for remainder of the existing warranty, or 30–90 days, whichever is longer. This does not mean that they will fail after that time, but if you want a guarantee that your computer will continue to work beyond the terms of your original warranty, you will want to purchase an “extended warranty.” Prices will vary based on the additional time added, how old the computer is, and the level of service that comes with it (be it next business day on-site or mail-in).

How does Dell warranty extension work?

Go to Dell’s Support site. Support | Dell USPut in your Service Tag number. Go to your Support Product Page. Click the Warranty Tab. From there you can begin the process. For you, since your warranty has expired, you must now go through a process. How much it is going to cost YOU to extend your warranty is going to depend on many things, just like how much it will cost me to extend mine will depend on many things. Yes. The condition of the computer will come into question, because Dell wants to avoid people signing up for a warranty AFTER they have a problem, just to make the repair cheaper.So. You request to extend the last plan you had, and you are informed that there may be an additional $49 fee on top of whatever they send you back in a quote, if your previous warranty is more than 30 days out. Then you wait for Dell to get back to you with how much it will cost you to extend your existing warranty, or upgrade to something better. From what you describe though… I’m not sure this is the way to go. Have you, at the very least… backed up what you want to keep and performed a factory recovery? You know… eliminate software as a potential cause?

I just got my notebook back from HP and the warranty sticker on bottom is now broken. Why would HP do that? ?

There is a white sticker on the bottom of my hp notebook, it says "warranty is void if seal is broken." When I sent the notebook in to be fixed, that seal was not broken, now it is. HP fixed the notebook, so why would they break their own seal/void their own warranty. Tried calling HP and have spoken to 5 people - no help. I'm waiting for a 'manager' to call me...not holding my breath. If it helps any, they replaced the system board and thermal pad.

How do I "accidentally" destroy a laptop beyond repair?

About a month ago, a couple came into the shop where I work.  They got out of their car, grabbed their stuff... and their dog got loose.  So, she puts the laptop and her purse down on the driveway, he puts the groceries on the car, they run around, etc.  Well.. in the confusion, he goes to move the car, and runs over the laptop. They didn't have accidental coverage.  The laptop had been off the manufacturer's warranty for a while, and they knew it wouldn't have been covered by that.  Accident.  Total loss, right?  Nope.  Replaced the LCD panel, the bezel around it, and the keyboard.  They could live with the cracks in the lower casing... and the motherboard hadn't been damaged.Spilling a drink... no guarantee there.  I've repaired enough laptops after spills to know that it isn't the route to go if you want to kill the unit. You are in the tough position of having no sure-fire way of pulling off a minor scam.  There isn't anything you can do that doesn't stand a chance of being repaired that is going to look like an accident.  If you want to guarantee the unit won't function, or that you damage enough of the unit to warrant replacement... it won't look like an accident.  They don't have to believe you either.  If it is obvious that you caused the damage on purpose, you know they can just invalidate the warranty.  You know this, and that is why you are asking about a reliable "accident".If you are convinced that this is the course of action you are going to take... then you must prepare yourself for failure, and jump in feet first.  "Accidentally" break it, and turn it in... and hope they believe you.  If they don't... well, you knew what you were doing was wrong, so that's normal.

What is the difference between motherboard and system board?

Hi i recently sent my laptop in for repair, they said that they changed the mother board. Computer wasn't fully fixed so i sent it back, now this time it shows that they replaced my system board...

I thought they were the same thing, but apparently not?

Either way is under warranty so i am not paying anything... but just curious.

Thanks.

Does HP do laptop body repairs?

I am absolutely positive there is more to this question that isn't going to come to the surface until after I answer the question. That said, if you pay HP enough, they will indeed replace the casings.  They won't repair them.  Whether it is the top of the lid, the hand rest, the screen bezel, or the bottom casing, they will replace the part that is damaged.  In this respect, they can function like any repair shop. The difference is, they will charge far more do to this, both in parts and labor, than any repair shop you could go to.  Depending on how new the laptop is, they might even just pull your existing hard drive and put it into another laptop of the same model... since it is your installation of Windows that makes it unique.... which means depending on the damage, they might just swap the unit out.Now... are you going to come back with details about how you were asking if they would cover this repair under their warranty?  That would depend on whether or not you purchased HP Accidental Damage Protection.  If so, then yes.  HP would replace damaged casings, and it would be covered by that specific warranty.  Note, this warranty is not their normal warranty, and it has to be purchased in addition to the unit itself.  It isn't included by default with any of the hardware they sell.DISCLAIMER: The inclusion of links in my answers does not in any way promote the products and services that may be found at the websites detailed in the links.  The links are not advertisements or spam, but rather provided to include accessibility to more information relating to the question I have provided an answer for.
