Yes they change.Becoming more self-centered is based on their self-awareness, their social awareness, and their intelligence and aptitude…You know… just like all the other humans.Earl Nightingale once said, “Look at what the majority of people are doing, and do the exact opposite, and you’ll probably never go wrong for as long as you live.”He’s not saying that about cops, he’s saying that about people. Because people, the majority of them, like all the ones you see on facebook and tv bitching about things or posting kitty memes… they make up the “don’t do what they are doing” segment.So, if you take all the people, the majority of which should not be mimicked, and then slice a thin layer off, you have what we call cops. These people are compiled of idiots, geniuses, weak people, strong people, followers, leaders, and everything else that “all the people” constitute.So, if the majority of people should not be mimicked, and we should do the exact opposite, it stands to reason almost any sub population that’s representative follows the same adage.I guess what I’m saying is that our cops are as good as the citizens from which we pick them.You want better cops, make better citizens.Yes, a lot of cops get bent, not purposely, but very few things stay straight under heat, pressure, politics, and citizen-hate.It takes active, intentional effort to overcome what the citizens try to shoehorn into.
