When you are dealing with live animals, you are bound to loose some. It's a fact of life. Petsmart buys their animals from large vendors, who either breed or buy the animals from breeders. Often these animals are hauled long distances from the breeder, to the holding facility, then in a short time are brought to a store, which may be 2,000 miles away. There is no way to prevent loosing some animals during the moving. Now everyone will jump on me for saying it, but I don't have an issue with the losses, as I know that the animals are taken care of throughout the time they are in the vendors hands. They are hauled on air conditioned(or heated) trailers, fed and watered along the way and kept in a suitable enviornment.
