Should Government Protect Us From Not Eating Enough Carrots And Force Us To Buy Michelle Approved

I never feel thirsty and practically have to force myself to drink water?

I know that I am supposed to drink somewhere around 8 glasses of water a day and I probably drink around two glasses of liquid a day - sometimes water, juice, or even an occasional soft drink. I simply never feel thirsty or think about drinking water (or anything else) and when I do, I have to force myself - what should I do?

Why do many American children throw away the vegetables and fruits from their school lunches?

I write from experience. It really makes me upset, how people keep complaining about the school lunches. I have worked in a public elementary school cafeteria for almost five years now. Never have I ever served over ripened fruit or vegetables. On the contrary, we have EXTREMELY strict rules about the food we serve. We get audited twice a year and also get evaluated often. We receive groceries twice a week. We never keep fruits or vegetables longer than a week, If that. Also, being the baker at my school, I make fresh bread to serve at least four times a week. I don't know where people are getting their information from. It is obviously our districts policy to serve delicious and HEALTHY food. So maybe the choices we serve aren't what the kids would preffer but they are choices that will help them stay healthy. What I have noticed is that most of the kids usually preffer a peanut butter and jelly sandwich over a fresh hot meal. Sometimes they will even say they don’t like a new item even thought they have not tried it. So I find it very unfair that people will blame the lunch servers or the food being served. We work our butts off to try to serve good food for everyone. You are welcome!!

If American mothers prepare lunches for their children, does it mean the children do not have a warm meal during the day at school? Is one sandwich from a lunchbox enough for a teen?

All school children in public schools in the USA can have hot lunch at school either by paying for it or by qualifying for the hot lunch program. However, packing a lunch from home is preferable for many families -- the food is often better than cafeteria food (which is notoriously starch-filled), and the student can participate in selection and preparation of what will be consumed at school. Many families prepare lunch together or each family member makes her/his own lunch. It is not necessarily a mother's job to prepare lunch for anyone capable of making her or his own lunch, so this is a question which contains assumptions.A sandwich alone may not be enough. Two sandwiches may be preferable. But there is no limit to what creative people can bring to school -- certainly nobody is limited to sandwiches alone! Here are some suggestions for other additions to a bag lunch:fruit salad -- in an insulated cooler with reusable freezer ice to keep it freshsoup -- in an insulated, heat-retaining containermilk (in the cooler)cut vegetables and hummus dipgazpacho (in the cooler)banana breadfrittata or quicheleftovers from last night’s dinner! This last was added thanks to Margaret Plotkin’s comment, below. Leftovers require almost no time for preparation. Great idea!

What are some fun foods to eat with chopsticks?

Mashed potatoes should be fun if you like a challenge.

Also vegetables cut in pieces. You could make a game out of it. If you pick something green (pea) it would be 3 points. Something orange (carrot) would be 2 points, something white (cauliflower) would be 1 points.

(Eating healthy AND learning how to count!)

You do not talk about meat but if you're not vegetarian of vegan, meatballs would be fun to eat with chopsticks. Homemade meatballs are best because they’re cheap and so much fun to make that even your kid will enjoy mixing the whole thing with his bare hands and using a meatballer.
(The meatballs you buy already made have too much calories and sodium.)

Also don’t forget dessert. Homemade fruit salads are great because they last for days and you put all your favorite fruits in it.

Also presentation is important. It’s like when you go to a fancy French restaurant and they bring you a piece of art in your plate.
For kids, you can do little animals, like a little mouse eating a piece of cheese. The little mouse would be a half hard boiled egg, with a chive for a tail, and with ears and eyes made out of whatever you have on hand.

I never brushed my teeth when I was a kid?

Stop eating(or drinking) sweet things too often. Don't floss. Brush your teeth twice a day. Once when you wake up. Once before you sleep.

Chew peppermint chewing gum after every meal.

How valid is the assertion by GOP nominee Mike Huckabee that the nuclear agreement with Iran will lead Israel "to the door of the oven"?

Consider Mr. Huckabee's background as a Christian Evangelical. He and most other Evangelicals believe that the reestablishment of Israel as a nation after WWII was a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy meaning that Jesus will soon return to establish the Kingdom of God on earth and usher in His Millennial reign. According to these beliefs, the antichrist, Satan's leader and messenger on earth, will be a political leader and will try to destroy Israel by assembling armies against them. Fret not, though, because just when things look bad Jesus will literally descend from heaven on a white horse to wipe out all who oppose Israel and punish all who reject Christ (including, presumably, all the Jews living in Israel who do not convert). This is a summary of the most prominent view of Biblical eschatology among Evangelicals, and it has in the past and continues in the present to exert an influence on US foreign policy via the influence of the Christian Right on the Republican Party, including the influence of Mr. Huckabee. In 2012, half of all Republican primary voters were Evangelicals. http://www.theguardian.com/world...http://www.cbsnews.com/news/whit...  So, if you believe that someone expecting Jesus to literally descend from heaven on a white horse to destroy the enemies of God can offer a credible evaluation of the current deal with Iran, then I guess you might entertain the possibility that Mr. Huckabee's assertion is valid.Ever since the Christian Right has became a strong influence in the Republican Party during the Reagan era, Republican candidates have had to be unquestionably pro-Israel. Naturally, any negotiation with Iran is unacceptable. As the Evangelicals see it, anyone who opposes Israel is opposing God himself, and anyone who negotiates with an enemy of Israel is aligning himself with the antichrist. This takes "demonizing" the opposition to a new level. Republican primaries are coming,  and the Evangelicals will be out in full force. The U.S. will always protect Israel as a nation. This has not changed under President Obama. Iran knows it would be suicidal to attack Israel, and not economically or strategically advantageous to develop a nuclear weapon. They are negotiating the removal of sanctions and more access to markets, while also trying to get a little respect from the West, by using the biggest bargaining chip they have: their nuclear program.
