Makes me wonder what's the real motive behind it.I suspect there are two major reasons behind it.1. It's a show to gain more votes, not only for the mid-term election but also the next presidential election. Because don't forget Trump won the election with his MAGA platform. So play tough against China will only solidify his base. Think about it, the demands are published on media right after the first round of negotiation. That's not how negotiation works. Have you ever heard Apple publish their negotiation details? It's more likely a PR stunt to win more votes.2. When want to sell something really expensive say real estate how do you get people to pay more? You show them something super nice but way over their range one and then show them the one you want to sell. It's called anchor pricing. However, to play this trick in a diplomacy setting is kinda low. So I'm inclined to believe that this stunt's main objective is to gain more votes.There will be deep implications to this because now everything is public knowledge, it will be hard for both parties to make a concession, and might make this trade war a reality. And everybody will be hurt in the end.
