Should I Be Nervous About This Braces Taken Off 3 Years Ago

Soooooo nervous about getting my braces off !?

you're fine. they would have been able to spot any cavities. they'll take them off and clean the cement off your teeth. it might look a little discolored at first but that should go away quick.

I got my braces off 2 days ago, but don't get my retainer until 10 days from now. Will my teeth move a lot?

Retainer, which must be worn routinely after treatment in order to hold your teeth in their proper, new position while your gums, ligaments and bones adapt. There are several types of retainers,Hawley RetainersThe Hawley retainer is one of the most common types of retainers. It is a removable retainer made of a combination of a metal wire that typically surrounds the six anterior teeth and is designed to keep your teeth in place. This retainer is made from impressions of your teeth so that it fits snugly and comfortably in the roof of your mouth, while the wire and acrylic framing keeps your teeth in an ideal position. The acrylic can also be personalized with a large number of colors or patterns.Essix (Clear) RetainersThe Essix retainer is a transparent removable retainer that fits over the entire arch of your teeth. This clear or transparent retainer fits over the entire arch of teeth and is produced from a mold. Similar to Invisalign’s clear aligner trays, Essix retainers have no metal or wires. They can also be used to produce minor tooth movements and can be helpful in prevention of tooth wear due to tooth grinding at night.Bonded RetainersBonded lingual retainers are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines. As with removable retainers, it is important to keep your bonded retainers clean. When brushing, make sure to carefully clean the inside of your lower teeth, as well as the wire itself. The retention phase of treatment begins when the patient’s braces are removed. Retainers are worn full time, typically for the first nine months, except while eating. Retainers should also be removed before brushing your teeth.Visit your dentist and fix your retainers as soon as possible.

I'm nervous about getting my braces?

I miss my braces!

Seriously, the time goes so quick when you have them in ( i had mine for 16 months) and then you miss them coz you cant change the colours or skive from school and use orthodontist as an excuse :)

but don't be nervous or anything, when they fit them in feels really weird and mettallic and when they tighten them it feels like your mouth is being pulled together, but after it only hurts for like a day and then they feel like normal teeth again - well mine did lol.

you can eat all foods except toffee coz you can pull off your brackets or break them, and you can have chewing gum but you will make a mess coz it gets all caught up everywhere lmao :)

on a scale i would say:
fitting: 3
tightening: 4
everyday: 0
taken off: 3

it REALLY doesnt hurt as much as people say and at the end you get loverly perfect teeth :D

enjoy the experiance coz you'll never get it again.

I wish you all the best with your new teeth

I am so nervous about getting braces!?

Hi, I am 15 years old and found out a few week ago that I need to get braces ): I am really nervous about getting them. Will they make me look weird? Do they hurt?
I am getting the In-Ovation C ones on the tops and regular ones on the bottom. I am also getting spacers next week and everyone is saying that they are HORRIBLE! Please let me know what to expect? Thank you so much!

Its been a year since I got my braces off. I'm going on holiday for 11 days, but I forgot my retainers. Will my teeth shift, or go back to normal?

It may shift a bit. Contact your dentist and he will offer some proper suggestions for your situation.

I'm scared to get my braces off?

I have had braces for over 2 1/2 years now. They said were going appointment by appointment right now, he said im 95% done. And they wanted to close this one gap where my teeth meet with triangle bands and it's pretty much closed, so I'm thinking I might get them off next time, do you think i will? However I have a few questions:
1. How long does it take to get them off?
2. How long will the whole appointment be?
3. Does it hurt to get the off?
4. Will my teeth be sore?
5. What is the first thing you did when you got them off?
6. What kind of retainer is best?
7. Will I have stains?
8. What do you recommend as far as whitening after?
9. How do they take them off?
10. What will my teeth feel like?
11. Will a retainer close a triangular shaped gap between my two front teeth?
12. ^ if so, which one of these hawley retainers would do that?

- I wasn't exactly the biggest fan of brushing my teeth back when I got them on (gross I know!) but I've brushed my teeth really well with braces, so am I gonna have really bad stains?
- I have heard your teeth look whiter after you get them off, is that true?
- why do your teeth look yellow with braces even if you brush well?
- last night I thought maybe I could get that gap to close completely, so I put my heavy rubber bands I always wear on along with a medium rubber band since I have extra. And it worked! Im not sure when my next appointment is going to be (probably 2 weeks or so) How long should I keep wearing them like this for the gap to stay closed?
- should I wear the double rubber bands for about a week and then switch back to just the heavy ones? Or wear the double for about 2 weeks?

The triangular gap in my teeth kinda looks like this but mine is a little wider. ( between my two front teeth) It's still the same idea though. it doesn't bother me that much but it would be nice to have it closed if possible without a fake tooth or anything like that cause it doesn't bother me enough to do any of that.

Do braces hurt when you get them on or off?

Yes! They hurt when they finally put the wire in. And when you get them off, it hurts to break the braces off the teeth, and your teeth feel sore throughout every tightening...just eat cold icecream, it helps the pain....

Process:
Gluing the brace on each tooth (top or bottom row one session, other row next session.
Placing wire in the braces, next session. Sometimes they use rubberbands on each brace to hold the wire, sometimes metal pins.
Some people must wear rubber bands that pull the top row of teeth back (for overbites).
Some people must have teeth removed to make space.
Some people have to get a "key" in their palate to spread crowded teeth and jaws.

Every month or so you must go back to have the wire tightened, this makes your teeth sore...
Sometimes the braces can cut your mouth inside if you're not careful, they give wax to cover parts of braces that can hurt you....

Fianlly when they come off, the orthodontist removes the wire, and cracks each piece off one by one. Then uses a special scraper to scrape off the dried on glue from your teeth. He also gives you a retainer which you must wear for a whole year consistently, and at nights after that.

You can eat anything pretty much, except after getting them on initially and after tightening your teeth and gums are sore, so nothing hard to bite or chew. No gum and definetely no hard candy like jolly ranchers! (bad experience with that, it got stuck to my braces, and when i tried to bite it, one of my braces popped off my tooth! i had to go to the ortho and have it reglued....and i got a lecture too...)

It all sounds horrible, but it's definitely worth it! I get nice compliments all the time for my straight teeth.... :D

BRACES OFF IN A WEEK! NEED TIPS!!?

Hi! I got my braces off last year. I was really scared at first, but it doesn't hurt and it feels good afterward.

1) It took me about an hour to an hour and a half to get them off.

2) No it doesn't hurt at all. When they use pliers to cut the wires off, you feel a little pulling. But it does not hurt.

3) You will not need to take an ibuprofen

4) There will be stains on your teeth, but the dentist will clean them up. You will have some glue on your teeth too, but they take it off

5) The stains don't come off by brushing it. But the orthodontist takes the stains off...he polishes your teeth for you

6) There is virtually nothing you can do to prepare. just don't be scared at all. I mean you could take before and after pictures if you wanted. Be prepared to show off those beautiful teeth.

7) The retainers don't really hurt. They might be a little tight at first and after a while your teeth might hurt (similar to the pain after your braces get tightened, but less pain than that). I got invisalign ones, that are super cool. But you might talk different with them on...it might sound like you have a lisp.

8) You don't have to brush the retainers. The orthodontist will give you this tablet that dissolves in water. You put your retainers in there, and it removes all the bacteria and germs.

9) Basically, you go into the orthodontist place and you are asked to brush your teeth. You wait in the waiting room until they are ready for you. An assistant will briefly explain what is gonna happen. Then you wait more in the chair and the orthodontist comes. He will cut off the wires with a plier and pull them out (doesn't hurt don't worry). Then he has to get the brackets off. He will take this drill thing and hold it up against the bracket. When the drill thing beeps, he will pull it off with the plier (once again, doesn't hurt. Just some pulling). Then he will polish up and clean your teeth, and he will take most of the glue off. If you have already had your teeth molded for your retainer, he will give you it and tell you how to wear it/take care of it. And if you don't have your retainer, you will have to make a mold of your teeth.

That's about it! It's a rather painless experience! And your teeth will feel so so smooth afterwards. You'll love the feeling. Hope I helped. And don't be worried at all hun! It's nothing

Teeth are sensitive and am about to get braces off?

I'm getting my braces off in 2 hours.. but I have about 3 tooth that are a bit sensitive as of couple days ago. Is this going to effect the movement? The sensitive tooth are located on the bottom set of teeth.. they are the side tooths (infront of the molars). For my bottom set I will be having a pernament retainer glued which only covers the front 4 teeth.

I'm a bit nervous the sensitive teeth is a sign they will move, please help?

Does it hurt when they take braces off? What's the experience like? I'm worried?

I've had my braces for 3 years now. I'm getting them off in 10 days, I so excited! But I'm scared that it will hurt a lot. What does it feel like getting them off? Are the white stains noticeable? I brush like normally, if I do get them, how would I get rid of them? I'm getting both a permanent retainer on the bottom and a removable one for the top. Will I have a lisp when I wear my retainers? Will it hurt taking the bands off at the very back? Please help me! I'm pretty freaked out about this, and I'm a big wimp at pain. :(
