Should I Be Worried About This Abdominal Pain And Swelling

Lower abdominal pain/ stomach feels big and full/i cant suck it in?

The list is endless with possible reason. The less serious would be bloating from gas, or constipation, or a symptom of PMS.

Gas is probably the most common cause of abdominal pain in the absence of any vomiting and diarrhea illness. Your will experience sharp pains on and off that may move throughout the abdomen. Sometimes you can feel the gas bubbles moving along.

Constipation can be painful in themselves, pain or discomfort from this comes in waves with little or no discomfort in between the pain.

Bloating or swelling of the lower abdomen may be present
in the lower abdomen below the navel from time to time, for instance, before or during menstruation, it may happen some months and not others.

Acute and sudden pains are always worrying some so to rule out anything serious your doctor should be consulted if pain persists. The doctor will ask about periods, passing of urine and bowel movements. They might also ask if there have been episodes of nausea, vomiting, or fever. If appropriate, they may ask questions concerning your sex life. Tests or treatment will be based upon the description of the pain and the findings of the doctor's examination. Most likely, a urine sample should be requested and tested for any signs of infection.

If a kidney problem is suspected than an ultrasound scan of the kidneys and bladder will be arranged.

If a problem with the womb or ovaries is suspected, swabs from the vagina looking for any infection might be performed and an ultrasound scan of the womb and ovaries is commonly performed.

If a bowel problem is suspected, a sample of the motion is often investigated for signs of infection and you may be recommended to have a telescopic examination of the bowel called an endoscopy.

If symptoms don't subside seek your dr for help and hopefully you'll be feeling better very soon.

Good Luck :)

Abdominal pain and swelling LLQ?

Hi everyone. For some time now I have been feeling a dull pain all over my lower abdominal and a few weeks ago I've noticed that the left side of my lower abdominal (Left Lower Quadrant) has swollen up quite a bit. Recently I've discovered that if I press the swollen part with my hand and massage it it relieves the swelling but after a few minutes it's back. My other symptoms also include chronic constipation and swollen lymph nodes in my groin.

I'm worried sick that this could be colon cancer. I've already been to my physician and in his opinion I'm way too young to have colon cancer because I'm only 17 so he sent me to the urologist but you can never know. Anyway, if someone has experience with this kind of stuff I would be very grateful if you replied.

Can antibiotics cause bloating and abdominal pain?

It is always good to take your antibiotics with food, as they can be quite harsh on the stomach. Ask your pharmacist if there are certain foods you need to avoid while taking your specific antibiotics (e.g. some of them should not be taken with calcium).

Antibiotics has a "bleaching" effect on the digestive system, that is, as it kills the pathogens in your body, it also kills the "good bacteria" in your intestines that help in digesting your food normally. As a result, you can experience bloating, diarrhea and smelly/undigested stools. You can help restore your intestinal flora by consuming dairy products that contain probiotics (like Danone Activia yogurt), avoiding oily foods and keeping hydrated.

Lower left abdomen pain (sore to touch!)?

Are you male or female?
how old are you?
what is your medical history?
have you had any surgeries?
are you running a fever?
have you lost weight?
do you have burning when urinating?
do you have problems with constipation?
Have you had black tarry stool?
have you passed bright red blood in your stool?
have you been having diarrhoea?
Are you taking supplements?
Are you taking prescription medication?

"Sore to the touch" is worth having a doctor assess. Based on your description you are having a large bowel problem.

Doctors are like detectives. They do tests to rule out pathology. You should have answers to these questions handy and see your doctor at once.

Good luck!

I'm worried that I have appendicitis and I'm really scared right now too.?

The very first symptom is abdominal pain. The pain is not contained to any particular area; it is spread around the lower right region of the abdomen. The intensity of pain may increase as the infection spreads. Such intense abdominal pain is sharper than the other normal abdominal aches one is used to.Another common symptom is nausea and/or vomiting as soon as the pain begins.A fever ranging from 99° F to 102° F is also common.Abdominal pain, cramps, tenderness and swelling are usual signs.Loss of appetite and diarrhea are also typical. Also Sharp pain in the upper or lower abdomen, back, or rectum, Painful urination, Severe cramps, Diarrhea, Constipation and Inability to pass gas

If you have pain as described above, temporarily stop food and liquid intake, do not self medicate yourself with pain killers or laxatives either (which will complicate the situation), immediately go and consult your GP. Timely diagnosis and treatment will save your life.
If the pain gets worse or unbearable across your stomach region and your temperature rapidly increases, it is most likely your appendix has burst open. You need to contact 911 immediately and rush to a hospital.

Please also remember that this could be caused by something else completely, kidney infections, UTI there are many other things so dont panic but do get to GP to get this sorted out.
