Should I Buy This Car

How should I buy a car?

I'm 18 yrs old and I am gonna to be going off to college soon in Florida but I have a New Jersey license. I will need to have transportation to get around Florida so I was wondering if I should buy a car in NJ, register it here, and then ship it to Florida? Or should I buy a car in Florida and register it there? I don't know how that work work though because I have a New Jersey license. Would I need to convert it to Florida license in order to register a car in Florida? I can't really find any information about this online so I'm asking here. Thanks!

Should I buy a car?

I would like to recount a recent anecdote that should assist you with your decision. It felt perfect when I drove from office to home on that fine rainy day. After the extended downpour, the clouds took a jibe at the city’s condition and decided to keep the show on with a light drizzle, steady and consistent like a dripping faucet that could last all day all night. It was my time to knock off. I gathered up my stuff, hopped into my car and turned the wheels from the swept driveway on to the brimming streets. (The drainage system of my city is not efficient enough to prevent water logging.)I put on some music, turned up the cooling and made myself comfortable behind the wheel. I was still on the streets when I saw pedestrians wading through the water with their pants pulled up to the knees and shoes held in their hand from the collar. I was driving utterly slow because that’s what you do when you are driving knee-deep in water and submerged roads are nowhere to find.Luckily the traffic was bearable. I could see through the windscreen with wipers turned off but not for long enough so I had to turn them on and off all the way home. It was a smooth ride and I could barely hear the engine purring from under the hood, supressed by the blaring music and incessant honking in the surrounding. But I was at peace amidst the chaos.Once Again I felt good about the decision of buying a car. I arrived at home dry and calm with no sign of anger, fury or qualm.

Car gurus: Should I buy this used car?

Its a 2000 Celica GT.

Owner posted it online for $2000, then reduced it to $1600. I offered all I had which was $1000. The owner said she needs the money so she will accept that offer if I buy it today. She gets off work in a couple hours so I have 2 hours to decide If I'm going to go for this car.

I complimented her on the paint job and she said thank you, that she just got it done last week and it costed her $950.

The car has decent miles on and from the pics it looks good and well kept cosmetically. Only one part needs fixing/replacement according to her. Its her daily driver but she just bought a newer car that she's picking up after work, which is why she says she's selling it.

I asked for the VIN and she sent a copy of the title which includes the VIN. My brother ran the VIN and it says its only had ONE owner but no accidents or anything of concern. He found it odd that the car would have one owner for its age.

The other thing is that for the "Issue Date" on this title, it says 2016. Underneath that it says "date of issue" and it was just last month 2019. So... what does that mean? Did she just buy this car and is selling it already??

Also she mentioned that she received a higher offer for what she was asking for, and was even receiving more offers, but was going to sell it to me (even though she'd get less money) because she wanted to keep her word.

What do you think? Can the dates on the title be explained? Does the VIN history sound fake? Would you buy?

Should I buy a used car as my first car?

It depends on how you plan to use it, where you live, where do you work, how much do you drive, your finances and many more variables.I see many people here almost forcing you to buy a used car because everyone assumes that you will “learn from it”, “maintain it”, “dent it”, “learn to appreciate luxury” etc. and one should buy a new car only when one has had enough experience with a used one. I get where that’s coming from, but it’s not necessary that you have the same needs/experiences as others. One usually tends to be careful and responsible with a brand new car, and careless with a used car, and that’s where you hear these stories about scratches/dents. Its psychological. When I graduated and started a 40-hr a week job, I got a new Toyota Camry. I got my driving license and insurance just two days before I bought the car. Not that I didn’t know how to drive, as I had driven before but on the other side of the road and with a manual transmission. I really needed a car at the time especially for work. Here is what I had in mind:Warranty. My time is precious, I didn’t want to keep checking all issues of my car (brakes/tires etc) and wanted something that wouldn’t cause me inconvenience on the highway, which might happen with used cars.I needed a car for 10 or maybe more years, and getting a new would surely last me that long if well maintained. Something that wouldn’t let me down, so that I could afford something like a used BRZ/FR-S alongside for the weekends.I needed something that would run with as little maintenance as possible, nothing much from regular oil changes, tire rotation etc.4 doors, spacious interior, great leg room, and somewhat decent on mileage (30+mpg at least). Also keep in mind that you can get new cars for 0 percent interest, whereas used cars come with interest if you buy from a dealer, or you need to pay cash. I didn’t have cash at the time, so I simply had no other option.50,000 miles so far on my very first car, and not a single issue, nor a single chip or a dent.Yes you can get by with a used car as well, that will save you a lot of money. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that you will “learn” something out of it.

Should I buy a car with 140k miles?

I'm looking to buy a 2003 infinity g35 coupe with 140k miles. Its body is in perfect condition and no problems with it. How long will this car last me? At least another 100k+ miles? Is this a good buy? They're asking for 10,900$. Should I do this? How much Is does this car cost to maintain? Any information would be appreciated

Should i buy a rebuilt car?

Have it checked out well by your own trusted mechanic. Some cars listed as rebuilt / salvage have had very little damage. A vehicle that was stolen and not recovered until after the insurance company had paid the claim could be listed as salvage, with just the ignition switch having been damaged. The car also could have been in a serious wreck, and not fixed correctly. Pay a qualified shop to check the car over well. You may have to pay $100 or so, but if it prevents you from buying a problem, it is well worth it.

Understand that a rebuild / salvage brand on the title will greatly reduce the resale value, so you should be able to buy this car well below book value. Many finance sources will not make loans on these vehicles, so make sure that is not an issue for you!
