Should I Buy This Name For $20

Where can i buy a ferret for under $20??

You might be able to adopt an unwanted ferret from someone else for less than $80, but not through a reputable agency. You're looking at browsing craigslist until you run into an add about it. $80 for one ferret is VERY cheap, even for an older ferret.

However, there are two reasons you should skip the live ferret and just pick up a stuffed animal ferret instead:

1. This is a live animal, that requires a significant amount of time and money to care for it. Are you sure your friend wants to dedicate that time? Are you ready to take over, or is your little sister ready to take over, when the friend fails?

2. As mentioned by others, ferrets aren't just the cost of buying one. Cage, food, toys, litter, litter boxes, food dishes, water dishes, water bottles, bedding, soap, cleaners, vet visits ... Like I said, if you browse Craigslist enough, you might find something that comes "all included". Well, some of these costs don't go away. You have to keep buying the food and the litter and paying for the vet visits. If initial cost is a huge problem, you can't afford a ferret. Can your little sister's friend afford it? Does she want to afford it instead of, say, more clothing, or make-up, or a cellphone?

Pets are terrible presents. Without serious time and money commitments by the new owner, the pet ends up neglected or abused. Get a stuffed animal instead if you want it ferret related. Try these ones--I was actually gifted the top one on the first link last year, and I love it:

At $20 an acre, isn't buying moon plots a solid investment?

Wait. Wait, WAIT! I don't know who is offering you that terribly high price of $20/acre. Lunar real estate is severely depressed this month. My name is Herman Lipschlitz and I can offer a much better deal... I will sell you plots in your choice of regions (dark side or light side) for only $12/acre. That’s a 40% discount from that other organization.Of course, extraterrestrial property claims are not recognized by the US, the UN, and most other nations by treaty,* but why let that stop you! I promise to record your purchase on the Lipschlitz registry of heavenly bodies. It is backed up to the same folder as my star registry. (Yes! You can own a star too!)In the event that aliens from Alpha Centauri stop by and inquire about land claims on Earth’s moon, I will point to your stake on a lunar map. I will warn them that you do not allow trespassing and that you have no plans bring water, electrification or other utilities in this century.Do you think that I am kidding? Do you suppose that the Herman Lipschlitz land registry is a sham, because no one recognizes it? Well, in all honesty, I can tell you that a claim filed with me is about as legal and legitimate as a claim filed with any other organization. In fact, there are dozens of such scams all over the world. They are each legitimate according to someone—yet they are all worthless according to everyone else!In an unrelated scheme (but substantially similar), I know of a real person who sells individual pixels for a particular web page address (she assumes that the page is viewed at the ancient screen resolution of 600x800). Each pixel links to any page the buyer specifies. Amazingly, she found buyers for every pixel at prices averaging more than $20, scoring an incredible $1 million dollars. In my book, this means that the buyers have a hidden motive or they are simply jerks._____________* The 1967 United Nations Outer Space Treaty states that no country can own the moon or lay claim to any part of it. But the treaty says nothing about individual land claims, and so I am technically free to sell or lease lunar real estate.Unfortunately, enforcing or defending my claim is a different matter, altogether. The countries and organizations with rockets capable of reaching the moon have not asked for my permission. Likewise, aliens that might pass our planet and its moon are unlikely to care.Meet the man who owns the Moon.

You have $20, what do you buy at the grocery store that can feed you for a week?

1kg Rice That’s 10 serves so enough for a week cost $1 to $52kg Beef Mince or Pork Mince $8–10500grams Carrots $12kg Potato $2Salt buy if you don’t have salt $1Cabbage $1 for texture for your meals yum.So that’s roughly $20, will feed you entire week, assuming you have dinner and then left overs for lunch, just rice for breakfast.

What kind of business can I buy with $20k, or is it smart to invest in properties?

There are plenty of independent businesses and franchises you can invest in with $20,000. They’re easy to find on the web by Googling “business for sale under 20k”. Expect to work for at least three years for no pay building up your business. If you buy real estate you usually only have to put down 20–25% so for the same $20,000 you can purchase a property for $80,000-$100,000. Depending on the area you might even have positive cash flow from rents immediately. So if a business appreciates by 10% you receive a return of $2,000 on your investment but if your real estate appreciates by the same 10% you receive a return of $8,000 - $10,000. That’s the beauty of leverage! Don’t forget that it also can increase your risk proportionately.

We can buy X.com for $20k. X.io is already in use with a similar product. Should we buy or let go?

You should get real legal input on this -- I'm not lawyer. But as I understand it, having an actual trademark registered is not required to establish usage rights to a particular name/term. You can do so simply by using the name in real life and then pursuing a trademark on a timely basis and/or taking other measures to protect/defend usage of the name (or possibly you don't even need to do that). In legal jargon, this is called 'first to use' vs 'first to file'. They clearly have 'first to use' status. You can read more about this in various places, such as: Trademark Rights: First to File versus First to Use
