Should I Drop Ap World History For Next Year

Should I drop AP World History?

I am an sophomore in high school, and I'm taking an AP World History class. Right now, it seems like I'll probably get an B in the class. Although it's very time consuming, I don't really want to drop it because I like being challenged and I heard the regular history class is extremely easy and boring. But I'm also planning on going to a really good college, such as Ivy League schools or UC Berkley or something similar to that, and I'm afraid that a B will look bad on my transcript. Should I drop the class or not?

(And I'm also concerned with my other classes. Last year, people who did well in this class got a lot of B's in other classes. I'm taking all honor classes, and so far I've been able to easily pull off A's in all my other classes, but I find that I'm spending considerably less time on everything else than I did last year and I don't want AP World to affect my other grades.)

Should i drop AP World History?

either way, you end up with a 'mark' on your transcript.

You took AP History because you have bought in to the whole "must take AP classes in order to get into any good college: no good college will accept me without AP classes" thing that you lost sight of the purpose of college. Now you have to face the consequences.

you dont like to memorize facts: well, that is not what history is about. History is being able to assemble, integrate and analyze facts into a larger structural whole, which then leads to a more comprehensive understanding of the interplay between the economic, political and social structures that either influenced or were influenced by any particular person or group of persons, in the context of the time and place.

So, the issue is that you wanted to 'get the credential' and now that you have found that it is something that does not interest you, and that you are not doing well at, you want to quit. I cannot make that choice for you, but honestly, quit this, and you will 'allow' yourself to do so again in the future.

Should I drop AP World History !?????

I am sophomore taking WHAP, and I m failing, I have a 62, I got a 50 on a test, and I m freaking out! I m thinking in switching for Pre-AP world history, which I think I can get a 90 on that class. Last year I took on level Geography. Should I try for AP bio next year?? I like way more bio over history.

Should I drop out of AP World History and take the Pre AP World History Class?

My school offers PreAP world History, for a GPA graded on a scale of a 5.0 (a 90+ is a 5) and an AP world history on a scale of, ALSO, a 5.0 (90+ is a 5 as well).

The thing is, WHAP is twice as harder than PreAP, which is unfair considering they are the same GPA points. But I'm taking WHAP to prepare myself for APUSH and other difficult classes I will take. The first grading period I had a 94 which is great, but they made that grading period easy for us because of Hurricane Harvey drastically affecting our homes in Houston. Now, this is the second grading period and the class is hard. We had 2 quizzes that I thought were EXTREMELY hard, and I studied so much for those quizzes. I don't know the grade yet but I think i failed both of them. My thought is, should I stay in AP world even though i probably failed these quizzes? I could take PreAP, get an A and still have a 5.0. Will colleges want me to take the AP route and challenge myself?

Should I drop my ap world history class?

We re almost at the end of the first semester, I m a sophomore and my dad is making me drop one of my three ap classes because he says I don t have enough time. I currently have an F (but I can bring it back up by turning late work in, so if I dropped it I wouldn t have a bad grade when I did), and I am horrible at history. But someone told me that colleges won t accept me? Is this true? I plan on majoring in English in college and I don t want to do anything that would suggest I can t handle the workload, but this class is stressing me out so much and like I said my dad is pissed.

Should I drop the class?

Did any of you take AP World History as a freshman?

I took AP world as a sophomore, because my school, and most schools don't offer it for freshman. And the work load for any AP class is way more than a regular class, so yes it will be hard. But you said you are good in history, so definitely try it. If its too hard, you can drop it. Make sure you study a lot, and get the Princeton review book before you start next year. You should review everything you learn in class every week, by going over it in your review book. I used the review book and i got a 5 on my exam, And do not wait till the last minute to study for the AP exam, start studying a month in advance (though I did procrastinate, and studied 3 days before the exam). The class goes really quickly; my teacher was covering one chapter in one week, and the chapters are very long. Your teacher probably will give you as summer packet, so make sure you do that. You will also be writing many essays, my teacher assigned two essays every month, so make sure your ready for that. However even though it might sound demanding, it will get easy later in the year. Good luck.

Should I drop out of Ap world History or should I remain in the class?

I can't decide!!! I like my teacher just I dont have enough time for the reading and doing all of my other homework. I am in all Pre Ap classes and I don't know if I can handle a Ap class.I'm also a inter district transfer student and if I get a C on my report card in any of my classes I will be kicked out. I have to decide before tomorrow because tomorrow is the last day to drop out..... gosh I dont know what to do..

Should I keep AP world history?

It’s hard to answer this without further detail. How’s your course load? How’s your WHAP teacher? Are you interested in it?WHAP is undoubtedly one of the harder AP Courses, with the lowest pass rate out of all the AP History Courses. It depends largely on your time commitment and dedication.Personally, I didn’t really enjoy WHAP- it wasn’t particularly interesting and was a lot of information to take in. The course felt very vague, and rushed over many different topics. Additionally, the redesigned WHAP test now includes the DBQ/LEQ format, which I’ve heard to be ridiculously complicated. In the end, it really depends on whether you are interested in the subject or not. If you aren’t, history APs such as AP Comp. Gov or AP US Gov may better suit you. In my opinion, government seems much more interesting, being applicable to our current lives. Also, think about what you want to major in for college. WHAP isn’t exactly that useful for many more prominent college majors today. All in all, if you feel interested in it or need it for a major you intend to pursue, go for it. Otherwise, try to look for alternatives in areas such as Government or Honors Courses.

Failed Ap World history first semester?

Okay so I failed AP World history my first semester with a 58. For marking period 3 I passed by a landslide with a 70. What grade will I need to have for the 70 to average out to an 85.

Should I drop ap world history, is it an important class?

Honestly, speaking as someone who's gone through all this, more than a few AP classes are really only worth it if they get you out of required classes that you'd have to take otherwise in college. They tell you to take AP classes because it shows colleges that you can take a challenge and that you're academically determined. 3 AP classes a year is definitely enough to show them you're determined and hardworking.

Check with the college you want to go to, and see if getting a certain score on the AP World History test will get you out of any required college classes. If not, don't bother taking the class.

And if your grades in other classes are going to suffer if you don't drop it (even if that AP class does get you out of a college course) then definitely drop the class. Colleges would much rather see you get A's in three AP classes than C's in four.
