I have Cyanogen 12.1 on my Yureka Plus. I found a Cyanogen 13 (unofficial) file as Cyanogen has been closed. Do I need to root my phone to update it?

NoThere is no as such need for rooting your device to install unofficial build of Cyanogen Mod or any other Custom ROM, however unlocking the bootloader is a must for you to do to install custom recoveries like TWRP, CWM, Philz Touch etc..And from custom recovery you need to wipe the system, user data, cache, dalvik cache and data directories of your device to flash the unofficial build of Cyanogen Mod 12.1 else you might end up either with a bricked device or your device in a bootloop.Hope this helps! After flashing a custom ROM, my phone is unable to detect a SIM card. What should I do?

There are three possible explanations for this. Assuming your sim card is not defective. It might be the result of slight deviation during the flashing process or,The problem lies in the ROM itself or,Your phone is damaged. To determine where the problem is, clean flash the latest version of that ROM again and check if the problem persists. If it's still there, it's either the fault in the ROM or your phone. Check the forums and threads relating to the custom ROM you're flashing to get a better idea. If nobody else has the same problem as you, then it's definitely the fault in your phone. What should I do? I was trying to root my HTC One, but due to some errors it failed terribly and the screen is blacked out and mobile isn't booting.

Even I have HTC one. And i had initially flashed cyanogenmod 11 on my one with the installer. It was a plain simple process. But after few days I wanted to revert back to the HTC one stock rom as the beats audio and HTC sense camera feature had not been incorporated into cm11.So now my device was having a unlocked bootloader. I tried flashing HTC stock Rom but it went into a loop and  stopped at a black screen. I crawled through number of xda forums and then I got to the crux of the issue. HTC devices have a S-OFF/ON feature. Your status in fastboot mode should be s-off  to install any of the custom roms.Refer to this sitehttp://www.addictivetips.com/mob...This will surely solve your problem mate. I have a OnePlus One bought in India with Android 4.4.4 and CyanogenMod 11. How do I update to Lollipop with CyanogenMod 12?

First follow the steps mentioned here. Take your time while doing it. You dont want to hurry.[GUIDE] OnePlus One - How to Unlock Bootloader, Install Custom Recovery and RootTill step 2 from that page would be fine. Rooting we will do later. Then get the latest cm12 build from CyanogenMod DownloadsGet latest GApps from http://goo.gl/uMD5FoDownload the latest firmware http://www.vanir-exodus.net/exod...Super Su SuperSU Download Now get into recovery. Go to Wipe>Factory resetAdvance wipe>Select wipe cache, dalvik cache, data and system and click WipeGo to install and browse to the folder with all these files Flash in this order FirmwareCM12GAppsSuper SuReboot and you will have cm12 in your phone. CM12 is in nightly phase now and you will have a build almost daily. Downloading ~250MB daily would be waste of your bandwidth. So download and install cyandeltaAndroid Apps on Google PlayWhat this app does is that it will compare the zip file you have with the latest update if any and download the changes alone to create a new zip. So you will be downloading about 15 to 30MB only daily instead of ~250MB.To further perfect your phone you can try custom kernels by some of the greatest dev from xda. Two of my favourites are[KERNEL] [08/03] [3.4.106+] [SM4.9] ☆ AK ☆ [v.127][KERNEL] [Bacon] [CM12/CM11s/CM11] Boeffla-Kernel 2.1/3.0 + betas (08-02-2015)Everyone phone is different so when one user says this is the best kernel for you might not be actually best for your phone. So try out different kernel till you find one which gives you longer battery and better performance.
