Should I follow my dreams of becoming an actress?

I've wanted to be for the longest amount of time. Im not talking about right now. Maybe in the future. I've wanted to be an actress ever since I was about 9 and in 11 now. I really love to write scripts and act them out with friends. I was just wondering because when I told my older sister (she's 16) that I wanted to be an actress she said,"Good luck with that" very sarcastically.

What do I do to become an actor in Bollywood?

ZOnly three ways are possible that can land you in Bollywood-Either you are a son/daughter of any veteran actor/actress as it’ll give you a better luck with bollywood. Which is often called as nepotism and bollywood is full of such offspring actors. Eg- Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt etc.Not an offspring? no problem. Go/run/walk/fly to Mumbai (city of dreams). Be a struggling actor/actress and if omens be with you, you might get recognition and become famous at some point. Eg- Sharukh Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkumar Rao etc.Do not want be in the struggling line? Ok, lets see what can you do now. Try-If you are a GIRL-Then you might wanna try your luck becoming a beauty pageant and win Miss Universe/Miss World or Miss India maybe. This will give you a direct entry in bollywood and than your acting skills decides. Eg- Ashwariya Rai Bachchan, Urvashi Rautela, Priyanka Chopra etc.If are a BOY- Oh sorry! But no scope for boys here. You better try option 1,2.Miscellaneous option (not for everyone)-If you are a genuine actor and you have the talent within you, then relax as you’ll be praised one or another day. Eg- Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Deepika Padukone.

I want to Become a film Director?

I don't know who has told you that film school is a waste of time, but that simply isn't true - every film director I've worked with who does quality work has trained in their field or in cinematography.

Directing for film involves a lot of technical aspects that you can't just get by on instinct, like perhaps a theatrical director could do (but really shouldn't). There is so much that goes on when making a film, that film school really addresses. It's a chance to learn and ask questions from professionals in the field, try things out, get constructive criticism, and really grow as a filmmaker. And when you're done with school, you come away with a body of work - several films that you made and can show other people. No one really wants to invest money in a filmmaker who has never made a film before and can't give them some samples of their work.

So, the main flaw in your plan that I see (even if you are dead set against going to school for film) is that there's nothing in there about making films (only that you hope someone will give you an opportunity to work on music videos or commercials). Before moving to LA and trying to break into the movie industry there, you need to have a body of work under your belt. Make your own films. You don't have to have a lot of money to make a film. I know people who have made beautiful films for pretty much nothing.

You learn a lot about film making and directing by actually DOING it. You'll make tons of mistakes that you'll learn from. You'll try things out, experiment, and eventually find your own style. You can't figure out who you are as a film maker and director without making films. So, that's where I would start if I were you. Invest some money in a camera (there are some very good cameras out there now that aren't too expensive), and an editing program. Use friends or local actors for your cast and write some short scripts that involve only settings and props you have access to. Make a film.
