Should I Get A Ginny Pig Or Rabbit

Guinea pig or rabbit?

So I told my daughter the other day that we could get a pet, since we currently don’t have one at the moment, and would like a new addition to our household. She’s decided between getting rabbits or guinea pigs, and has done her research on both of them, but still doesn’t know what pet she wants.

My question is which one would you get? And what are some of the pros and cons of each animal?

(My daughter is also 14 if that helps with anything)

Thank you for the answers in advance.

Can you use a rabbit cage for a guinea pig?

Yes the guinea pigs will fit into the cage but whats important is that you have to clean the cage well to rid it of any disease causing bacteria from your rabbit.

Also, if your bunny cage has wires as the floor/bottom you should cover it with news paper as guinea pigs have very different feet compared to rabbits. Guinea pigs feet can easily get caught in the wires, hence their can break their legs easily.

Otherwise, a rabbit cage would be fine to use for guinea pigs as guinea pig and rabbit cages aren't much different in pet stores anyway.

Should I get a hamster, guinea pig or rabbit?

Guinea pigs. Iv had all. Rabbits, are great. BUT they are more stand off ish. They arent as social. And the female rabbits get kinda mean and like to bite if they arent bred. Hampsters? They bite like crazyy. Iv only had one hampster that didnt. And they smell! I hatee the way hampsters smell. The paper is a mess, they requre wheels and everything. Guinea pigs are AMAZING. I had a guinea pig i got as a baby, held him every day and whenever i held him hed lick my nose and stuff, it was the cuttest thing. Also, my girl guinea pig learned that treats came from the fridge and everytime she heard it open shes start weeking. Which is a noise they make when they get rly happy. They love humans, there easy. They can go in any bedding you want and all they need is a cage and a little house. Theyre interesting and they make a couple differnt noises and they all have such differnt personalities. They really want you to pet them, where the rabbit and hampsters dont so much. The only thing is that they are messy. Because when they get really happy they do this thing called popcorning and its basically running around there cage and jumping (its cute) and when they do that there bedding often flys a little. But i deffinitely miss my guinea pigs. I have two rabbits right now that are tame and dont bite but id pick guinea pigs over rabbits any day. Hampsters are cute, but like i said they bite. And they arent even like nibbles they rly go for blood. Specially if you get them from pet stors where when you buy it, the people working there dont even want to stick their hand in to get them cause they bite.

Rats are also a great option too. Very social, very smart, very clean and they get very attached to their owner.

Rabbit or guinea pig as first time pet?

No pet should be got because they are easy to care for!!!!!!!! Pets take money, time, and commitment!!!!!!! Don't get either, You aren't ready!!!!!!!!! Who pays the vet bills? Who gets them out for the playtime and 1 on 1 time???? Rabbits and guinea pigs don't need a cage mate, they need YOU to be there for them!!!!!!! I have over several thousand dollars and a lot of time invested in my rabbit and she isn't even a show rabbit. She will forever be syringe fed. Who rushes home every 4 hours should your pet require that kind of care????? Pets should never be committed to based on how easy they are to care for!!!!!!!! There is MORE to caring for a pet than food and water and most people can't even manage that!!!!!!!!

Should I get a ferret, rat, rabbit, guinea pig, etc.?

Hello everyone! I was hoping for a little advice on this important decision- my new pet. I plan to be getting a new addition to my family in September, so I'm researching as much as possible.
The main contenders are:
rats, ferrets, or rabbits.
I'm aware that ferrets and bunnies are larger commitments than rats, but I want a cute little buddy who will be willing to play and/or sit on the couch watching bad reality TV with me :P Something social is a must, and I'd like for the cost of everything to be roughly $200 or less. I don't have a preference on lifespan, either. Any ideas? I'd also like some guidelines on ferrets... I know they are sort of similar to rats in the fact that they need a hammock, toys, cage, etc. but do you need multiple? Are they sweet? Any inquires are welcome, there are no children or other pets.

Can i paint my guinea pigs and rabbits cages?

i wouldn't suggest painting the cage they're both chewers and will most likely chew on the bars of the cage...
