Should I Get An Mba Or Psy.d.

Is it relevant to do clinical psychology after an MBA in HR?

The usage of the word "Relevant" is very subjective since people are different, what is " relevant " to X may sound sill to Y.In your case ,lets look how your previous experience can come handy in your new endeavor.  At the first glance ,it looks like doing something which might be diametrically opposite (medical and MBA terms, no relationship whatsoever)OR IS IT ? Let's see :Clinical psychologyClinical psychology is a broad branch of psychology that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Some of the more common disorders that might be treated include learning disabilities, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. a clinical psychologist has three main duties:1. Assess the patient2. Diagnose disorders3. Recommend a possible treatmentAssessing a patient typically involves speaking with and interviewing him and possibly his loved ones. During these interviews, a clinical psychologist will often learn a great deal about what’s troubling his patients. The most common way for a clinical psychologist to gather information about a patient is by observing him and his actions. A patient himself or his loved ones will also be able to offer some insight as to how he acts, and what his thoughts and feelings are. HR or Human ResourceThe MBA in HRM or Human Resource Management is the two year post graduation degree program for a graduate which basically means the management of employees in organization. MBA in HRM involves the specialized training program in human resource management like planning strategies, recruitment, hiring of employees, and training of employees.I need not point it out about the so-many intersections(Basically revolve around the Homo sapiens) between these fields and if you are passionate about your new endeavor  , i think it is 100% relevant .

Psychology major???

First of all, to be any type of psychologist, it's not required to have a BA or BS in Psy, though it's preferred. Very few careers in Psy only require a Master's; you need a Ph.D. or a Psy.D. to really have a career in Psy.

Getting a Psy degree is not a walk in the park. You really have to be serious about it and really work hard. If you're really serious about a career in Psy, you should get internships while you're getting your BA/BS. Depending on which branch of Psy you want to go into determines your salary. You really need to research before you make any rash decisions.

As for schools, UCLA has an excellent Psychology department. It's actually better than USC's. I'm currently going to Chapman University in Orange, CA and getting my BA in Psy. The Psy department is quite excellent considering how small the school is. I don't recommend online classes because you just won't learn as much as if a professor is there. A lot of the stuff that I've learned have been through real life examples that are not in the textbook.

Good Luck!

Associate degree + Psychology + Job = ???

From my own experience:

With my AA in Psychology , I worked as a "Community Support Specialist" with mentally ill geriatrics, a "therapeutic aid" for foster care, and as a "mental health specialist" in residential treatment. Good times, all three, but none pay well and it doesn't take long to burn out.

The AA degree itself should open many doors for you in many fields. Psychology will be a good foundation because no matter what you pursue in the future, dealing with people effectively will be a great skill. I currently work as a project manager- my BS degree is in Business and I just started my MBA.

Education = Opportunity!

Good luck to you!

Which has the better psychology programs SDSU or SFSU?

SDSU has a doctorate program so they're probably a bit better. What would be your focus/long term career goal? Do you want be an MFT? Do you want to get a Ph.d/Psy.d? Do you want to focus on industrial/organizational psychology? Go to both of their websites and see what programs they offer.

To be perfectly honest it wouldn't really matter which program you got your undergrad from even if you plan on getting a ph.d Both are good universities so thats not going to be the deciding factor of where you can get in to as a grad student.

If one offers a BS in psych then thats probably a better program than a BA in psych.

If you don't plan on getting at least a masters degree then you're going down the wrong educational path. If you think you want a ph.d/psy.d then I guarantee you there are a ton of things you havent fully thought about like internship match rates, tuition, and chances of getting a full ride.

Can I do an MBA in clinical psychology after business administration?

Two things to understand – More and more, education is a market, a business,So Suppliers will provide anything that they believe the consumer will buy. And sometimes they create that need thru marketing and advertising, Maybe positioning self like: “we are the only institution that offers MBA for astrophysicists”, Or “MBA in Psychology” - Anything as long as they can pocket the $75 000. Like a restaurant: “Our unique shrimp sandwich with freshly roasted coffee beans from Himalayas mountains”. Etc.This being said (you could have an MBA in anything), the question is : “why would you do it?” – It is almost like asking “Can I go to such city” – The answer would be “Sure! But why would you go there? What does bring you”What is your end goal, what do you seek in pursuing this “MBA in clinical psychology” – Your answer will make it easier to give answers. suggestions and guidance

Are there any PhD or PsyD programs that would accept me with a 3.0 GPA in psychology?

Thanks for the A2A.I think John Carr’s answer is a good one. The only thing I will add is that for graduate school, the applicant pool is much smaller. The people who make the decisions generally aren’t admissions specialists, but members of the department themselves. They want to choose people who are interested in helping them with their research projects, or who have an ability to teach undergraduate classes or lead discussion sections for their lectures.I would reach out to several universities that you are interested in attending, and try to get in contact with the head of the department or the person who is the head of their admissions committee (it may be the same person). You’ll want to keep it brief, because they are probably pretty busy. However, I think if you give them a little history of your background, and ask them whether you have a decent chance of getting admitted to the PhD or PsyD program there, you should have a good idea of what your chances are at that particular university.I would apply to at least 5 that indicate you have a good chance of being accepted.Best of luck!

If my master’s is in counseling psychology, can I do a PsyD in clinical psychology? Will I be a clinical psychologist then?

Yes, You are eligible and you pursue PsyD. But many universities/ institute in India offer PsyD to those who have M.Phil in Clinical Psychology. All the Best

I a guyy doing mba still suffering from anxiety and depresion how shud i take it?

Hi Abhi. It's clear that you have work stress. Try not to be too perfect but organise yourself and concentrate well on what you are about. Avoid doing the things that you will regret or the things that you are not sure of. Keep with the meds. They are essential for restoring vital chemicals which are deficient in you. Simple meditation and slow breathing exercises help as well as staying away from spicy foods. When alone and tensed, find a friend to chat with so that your mind does not begin to get anxious. The psychiatrist will do an excellent job in removing some of the tension within you by having you speak out your problems. Keep with it. Your life will be a success over time, don't even worry about it.
Take care
Love,
Angel
