Should I Get An X-ray Do You Think My Foot Is Broken

How do I know if my foot is broken?

You can't tell if you have a minor or “green stick” fracture, a dislocation or a minor crush injury, but a general practitioner or an orthopedist with an x-ray machine can. You can turn a green stick fracture into a complete fracture if you try to walk on it. Don't do that.If you have a complete fracture it will hurt too badly to put any weight on it. You will probably feel the broken ends of the bone grating against each other if you try to put any weight on it.If you have a compound fracture the broken bone end may protrude through the skin, so, you could see that pretty easily.Don't guess. If you have injured your foot you need to go see a doctor and have your injury diagnosed and properly treated so it can heal correctly, allowing you to walk without pain afterward.Do it!

Fractured/Broken Foot?

definitely a tear of the ligaments.

almost sure ther is a fracture. you should get xray and cast.

i had the exct same condition about 15 years ago while at a picnic,my friends carried me to the hospital.after xray the doctor assured there was no fracture, but he put a cast anyway.
i was young and stupid so i took off the cast myself after 2 days ,also because the doctor was sure the x ray didnt show a fracture.

no after 15 years it still hurts when i am cold or when i stand on it for a long time.

my impression now looking back is there must have been a crack (superficial fixed fracture) and i walked on it too early so it didnt heal right.

so for short although you took a long time (i month) i think you should check with an orthopedician , and avoid weight bearing on that foot for a month or so to give it time to heal whether its a crack or just a ligament tear.

How do you know if your foot is broken?

It could be broken. Generally speaking, if you cannot walk on it, it is either badly sprained, or broken, so please get it x-rayed and checked properly. You may have small hairline fractures in your foot (happened to my friend after her horse stepped on her foot!!!) so please get it checked.

In the meantime, ice your foot 20 mins on, 20 mins off, and elevate it above your hips! Good luck!

I think my foot is broken a dresser fell on my foot what should i do?

call a Podiatrist to get an X ray

I think I broke a bone in my foot. X-rays last night were negative but I have a feeling they missed something.

I was playing basketball last night and landed strangely on my left foot. It hurt right in the middle of the foot, not the ankle. I went home and could feel it starting to hurt so I went to an urgent care. They took x-rays and they came back negative. They stated I had a foot contusion.

I have been at home icing and elevating all day and trying to stay off of it. It is not black and blue, swollen or anything, but it does not feel good to walk. I am not a doctor but I have played sports forever and I know my body well, something feels wrong here and it feels worse than a contusion. I have had stress fractures in my leg before and know they don't get picked up by x-rays a lot of times, and I believe that is what I have in my foot right now.

How much longer should i wait to see if the pain in my foot dies down before i would contact a doctor to get a bone scan. When i have had problems with my feet/legs before, x-rays have done nothing, but the bone scan has picked it up every time.

OUCH! i think my toe is broken...how do i know for sure?

two nights ago (saturday the 9) i was at a party dancing barefoot and this girl STOMPED on my foot with her heels on!!! I was limping for a while but then i just decided to forget about it, even though it still hurt. My toe is now, two days later, black and blue and purple all over and its swollen and there is this weird indent/bump in it (in two different spots) and i just put ice on it. How do i know if it really is broken/ fractured? If it is, will i have to use a splint? thanks!

How can I tell if my pinky toe is broken?

On the outset, it’s impossible to tell if you’ve got a broken baby toe (pinky toe) just by assessing your case with the help you find online. Go to the nearest hospital/ clinic and meet a doctor. Explain your symptoms and have your foot x-rayed. That’s the only procedure to be sure if it’s a broken toe or not.Take my case: I had accidentally stubbed my toe to the wall the other night while going to the bathroom. There was mind boggling pain when it happened. But afterward (nearly 10 hrs later) - I only experienced mild, nearly non-existent pain and swelling, with absolutely no difficulty walking (except for a slight shift) or bearing weight upon the damaged toe. I was able to bend and buck my toe just fine. I was not entirely OK with the discomfort experienced but it wasn’t severe, or anything. I could walk, dance and go about my routine. It wasn’t until I paid a visit to an Orthopaedician/ had my foot x-rayed that an underlying fracture was discovered. The Doc traced the fracture line in the toe (on the x-ray) for me to see for myself. My experience is a testimony that you won’t always have the symptoms indicated online for a broken toe: throbbing, pain, swelling, broken nail shaft, discolored nail or bruised skin etc.I agree with Maya Deva Kniese. There is no better way to get this right than to visit an Orthopaedician. The sooner, the better. Good luck.

How do you know if you have a broken bone or fracture?

Well -- medically speaking, a "crack" and a "fracture" mean the same thing - a broken bone. A "crack" is usually a hairline fracture; the break doesn't displace the bone. When a doctor speaks of a "fracture", he is usually referring to a displaced, broken bone. It really doesn't matter - the initial pain is going to be outstanding with either one.

I've had a hairline fracture of my knee cap. Believe me - if your foot or any other bone had been cracked or fractured when that guy fell on you, you would have KNOWN it at that very instant. The initial pain from a broken bone is so severe that you don't know if you're going to pass out or throw up -- just whichever comes first.

Within just a couple of hours, the site of the fracture will begin to swell to the size of a baseball and turn a lovely shade of purple-blue. If your foot was cracked or fractured, the soreness would not be going away after just 4 days - you wouldn't be able to put any weight on your foot at all.

You can have it x-rayed if you want, but the doctor was probably right - nothing is broken. If the soreness is beginning to go away this soon and you can walk, you probably just have bruised muscles and ligaments, and they will just have to have enough time to be able to heal on their own.
