Should I Go Surfing Today

Surfing with period?

I'm 13 and I started my period today. I'm going surfing in 2 days and I'm scared my tampon will leak and fall out? I'm going to be wearing a wet suit with a bikini under it. Help what do I do I'm so scared?!

How dangerous is surfing?

Compared to other sports? Medium dangerous I’d say.Moreso because we exist in the medium of water, whereas other sports (on a field, in a gym) if you go down you go down somewhere safe. You go down out there and you are immediately in a bad spot. Now, ignoring the ‘you are in water’ part, for 99.9% of us danger isn’t much more an issue than any other activity. That said, you absolutely must be aware of the hard stuff.Hard Stuff:Your Board (it’s the enemy!)The bottom - reef is prickly, sand is a neck breaker.Other surfers.Other people that are surfers for today.Swimmers splashing around at the kill zone.JettysPeople riding boats on the waves (ya, I’ve checked the line and seen boats..not kayaks..boats).Don’t ride gigantic waves and the bottom won’t be an issue. Be aware of what’s around you and err on the side of caution and all the other stuff will never matter.Tips:-If you happen to eat it at the top of the wave tuck your head and bring your shoulders up; bring your arms up as well to prevent a possible pile drive at the sea floor. Don't over-tighten, though, as being too rigid will actually cause more damage on impact.- If you bail and lose your board DO NOT surface without hands (or fists) in front of your face and around your head. Fins can slash you up (better your hands/forearms than your pretty face) and a board up in the wind can come down and knock you out. I once took what felt like a Mike Tyson right hook from a big fat old heavy glassed longboard, had to be carried out until the stars went away.-General rule for ALL ocean watersports, actually, hands out ALWAYS. Seen so many people snap their necks over the years that wouldn’t have if they just kept their hands out (not surfing, actually, just riding waves with their damn hands down).

Surfing after dying my hair?!?

On Tuesday, I went and got my hair dyed with a semi permanent Redken brand dye. Its a brown/auburn color. I am a surfer and its been so long since I've dyed my hair that I dont remember the swimming guidelines to colored hair.

As I said I am supposed to go surfing tomorrow with some of my co-workers, by the time I go surfing the usual 24 hours before washing your hair period will be over. I didnt wash it today and will Thursday morning.

Should my hair color be okay and stay intact if I go surfing within 48 hours of having it dyed?

What would you do if you got dropped in on while surfing (see clip of said burn from today below)?

That would depend on the spot, age, and circumstance of the drop in. If it’s really crowded Malibu, that’s to be expected but with just a few out and you have been cool about not cutting in, then a shout or a word after is in order. Still, if you’re not a local then it’s best not to escalate it unless it happens again. You don’t really want the drama or consequences of a physical altercation. Some times it does happen and you better have some friends or be a 2nd-degree black belt as I am to back your words.

How long should I wait to go surfing after getting a tattoo?

So I just got a tattoo in the center of my upper back. It's about the size of a small coaster. I asked the artist how long I should wait to go into the ocean to surf, and he said I should wait until it heals up (2-3 weeks). I am going off to school in a week and it is located right by the ocean. I plan on being in the water frequently and for long periods of time, which i did not mention to the artist. Is two weeks cutting it short, or is that an acceptable amount of time to wait (I will be very anxious to get in the ocean)? And would it be a good idea to wear a water proof bandage over it to protect it a bit more? Opinions would be appreciated, thank you!

How to text someone for the first time to go surfing?

I m a teenager and want to ask a new friend for the first time to go surfing but don t want to sound weird. How could I word it, basically? And I know some people meet their friend at the beach but should I drive down there with him? Pretty dumb to ask but appreciate suggestions. Thanks.

Should I use a leash if I'm surfing big waves?

If you are new enough to surfing to ask this question, then you are not wise enough to know when to remove your leash. In that case, the only reasonable answer is to always wear a leash to your surfboard when in the surf. The primary reason to wear a leash is to prevent your loose surfboard from hitting somebody else after you lose hold of it in the water - with the leash it won’t get loose except rarely. The second reason is so when you do wipeout your won’t have to swim too far to find your board - it will be within feet of you. There is a slight added risk that a leashed board might hit its owner, but that is over-weighed by the reduced risk of drowning, or damage to your board when it hits something. Also, when you have the board, it is a lot easier to get back inside by catching the whitewater than by swimming. Overall, having a leash makes you far safer than surfing without one, both to yourself and to others. Personally, I would almost never paddle out without a leash on my board.

Where should I parking when surfing in Venice?

A few blocks off from the beach but be careful. Dirtbags who see you changing to go surf and know you'll be gone for a bit and possibly locked your keys in the car will target your car to break in. Better off going for a set wave at surf riders beach than parking in Venice.

If I want a “take everywhere” laptop for photos and web surfing, should I go PC or Mac?

If you’re not attached to the MAC environment, absolutely go for a windows laptop. If you don’t need apps like final-cut pro, garage band, etc. don’t buy a mac in 2018.Mac are way too overpriced you’re getting a far weaker Graphics card and CPU for something similar the price, if you’re going to do rendering and processing, the Windows already moved on to the 8th gen, which is 30% faster, you can even get the same performance today for the same price.Yes, apple does provide a good customer service, but it have been revealed the controversy of their service and product:Not to mention that mac have terrible I/O, you only get 3 thunderbolt 3 (which is nice) but what if you want to use a normal USB, VGA, etc. you must even pay more for a dongle which is outrageous considering the price of the product. Here is another video by a well-known tech reviewer telling his opinion of apple as of 2018:I’m not an apple product hater. In fact, I uses products like Icloud and Iphone, but if you want the best bang for your buck. Apple is not going to cut it today.
