Should I Go To Ucsb Or Sdsu

Should I go to UCLA or SDSU?

UCLA is in a different league than SDSU. It's not even close. That said, it depends on your ultimate career goals. For example, if you want to work in finance, unequivocally go to UCLA. However, if you want to be an educator, say 4th grade math, it likely does not matter where you attend school. Your peer group, exposure, opportunities, etc. will all be  significantly better at UCLA; however it really just depends on what your goals are, your financial position (though is a UC really that much more than a Cal State?), and where you want to live.

SDSU, or SBCC to UCSB?

I go to UCSB and I'm majoring in computer engineering and no, it isn't frowned upon at all to transfer in. But If you transfer you will likely have to take a 5th year because some base courses that engineers take on their first 2 years at a 4 yr university are not offered at the jr college level and engineering doesn't offer too much freedom with your class selection. As unoriginal as it may sound, just go with your gut feeling. If you do decide for SBCC stay focus and keep in mind that you have to apply for admission again so you have to keep up your grades.

And lastly, and advice: I love partying too, but as an engineer, sincerely, I'll tell you it won't be an easy ride and you'll have to sacrifice more than the usual student. While other students have more time to party and still get good grades, engineers have to do a heck of a lot more work to even pass classes. Unlike courses int he arts, engineering courses do not have grade inflation, on the contrary, many have high failure rates. You can BS an essay, but you cannot BS a differential equation.

UCSB vs SDSU?

I would choose SDSU. UCSB is great for partying...and that's about it. It's not nationally recognized for anything else really.

SDSU is nationally ranked for MANY departments - business, hospitality, engineering, education...and they are Division I athletics (have one of the best Basketball, Football, and Baseball teams in the nation...they're off to the Sweet 16 now). SDSU is also the "flagship" campus of the CSU system, and is the only research university in the entire Cal State University.

UCSB is known for partying and being in a great location. They are a Division I school with really no athletics going on. UCSB doesn't rank too highly in many areas, to be honest.

SDSU is also in a great city. San Diego is wonder, and it has GREAT ties with the school.

UCSB vs. UCSD vs. SDSU?

I will be a freshman in college next year and have been accepted by all three schools. I was wondering which would be the best fit for me. I love to party and would like to go to a school with a social scene and hot guys of course! My parents want me to learn a lot and get a good education. My mom wants me to go to a UC but is also okay with SDSU. UCSB I hear has a really good party scene and a beach on campus <3, but it is also the farthest away. I want to go away to school but not too far because I want to come probably once a month on a weekend. I hear UCSD is really good for academics but that it is boring! Is this true? Another factor is that I for sure want to join a sorority. Which school has the best sororities? Thanks to all who answer! :)

UCSD VS SDSU VS UCSB?

If I were accepted to UCSB and UCSD, I would not even consider going to SDSU. It absolutely cannot match the other 2 in terms of reputation. However, if what you are interested is in a party school, you may want to go to SDSU. That is a major party school also and at least if you flunk out from partying so much, you wont have wasted a whole ton of money on it.
If I were you, I would go with UCSB even though you dont want to move. UCSD is a very very academic school, all study, all the time. Not much fun there. Very smart people too so it might be hard to get the good grades cause they can mess up the curve. UCSB is not as highly regarded at UCSD, but it has a solid reputation, its a fun school and a beautiful campus. It really isnt THAT far away, it's not across the country or anything.

Which is the best? UCI VS SDSU VS UCSB?

Do not listen to both of them below especially gregory (troller who keeps changing his name). Gregory has been trolling all over yahoo answers and always write UCI without any reason. It is not true that SDSU is for stoners. He probably have not been to college and just looking at rankings which is half garbage. If it was for stoners, then why do people apply there and why is it harder to get it than some other UC's. Where is the logic to that?

The only reason why UCI is ranked high is because of what students they accept, but not necessarily reflecting on quality of education and student success in career. My mom had interns from UCI who was forced to graduate in 4 years even though he or she did not complete all the requirements for a bachelors. Others needed to write letters, and when my mom looked over the letter, the letter was bad, my mom had to tell them to get someone to proofread the letter.

As for UCSB and SDSU I do not know much about those schools, so I can not give an opinion.

In conclusion going to San Diego State would save you money. You can get the same education for a cheaper price and you stated that it is near the beach, so that is a plus.

If you like schools that have good college spirit you want to avoid UCI. At UCI, most students commute. If you have money go to UCSB, otherwise SDSU.

I turn down UCI for CSULB for computer engineer because CSULB was much cheaper. My Uncle who is a professor who taught at both UCSD and currently at CSULB said that it does not matter where you went to school for undergrad unless you compare to Ivy league schools.

Which is better, SDSU or UCSB?

UC Santa Barbara is better, x10000. Is more nationally recognized than SDSU, is a HELL of a lot prettier (the campus is ACTUALLY on the beach where as SDSU is 15 miles from it) and UCSB isn't in as much financial turmoil as SDSU.

The ONLY reason SDSU and UCSB are ranked together is because they are notorious for being two of the top party schools in California. Other than that, SDSU cannot compare. UCSB average GPA is almost 4.0 whereas SDSU's is around a 3.5.

Should I attend UCSB or SDSU?

I have to choose between UCSB and SDSU. As of now, my major for both schools is English, but I eventually want to lean more towards journalism and media, maybe even public relations. UCSB does not offer either of those majors, and SDSU does, but would it be foolish to turn down a UC education to go to a state school? Could I receive an English degree at UCSB and still become a journalist?

Which school should I go to:UCR, SDSU, CSULB?

I have been accepted to all of them except CSU Long Beach.

Here are my majors for each:
UC Riverside: Business Admin.
San Diego State University: Business Admin, Management.
CSU Long Beach: Business Admin, Management.

I am not too sure how good UC Riverside's Business school is. And SDSU is supposed to be pretty good. Not exactly sure about CSULB either, though.
I have only visited Long Beach, I will be visiting the other two soon.
As far as the social environment(outside of school), I think this is how I would rank them.

SDSU, CSULB, and UCR.

I want to go somewhere that has a good social scene but I'm more worried about which school has a better program for business.

UCSB or SDSU for undergraduate?

Hey guys!

I'm currently a high school senior (class of '11) and I'm graduating in about 2 months. I'm really excited to college but now I face literally, the most difficult decision of my life. Picking which school I want to go to, UCSB or SDSU.

The reason I'm having such a hard time is because SDSU has the major that I want - BioEngineering. I was accepted into their honors program and I would also be minoring in interdisciplinary studies. It's a beautiful campus, everyone is sociable, and the atmosphere fits my personality. UCSB is the same thing. Everyone is nice, weather is perfect, etc. BUT UCSB doesn't have the major that I want. Instead, I'd have to go in as a Mechanical Engineering major, and possibly minor in Biology.

I know that UCSB has a better name/reputation and will prepare me more for medical school than SDSU would, but they don't have the major that I want. I know I can major in anything and still go to med school, but I'd like to have a degree in something I could use. Plus the honors program at SDSU is really enticing. As of right now, I'm not excatly sure if I want to go to medical school, but I want to have that option. But in case I don't go, I want to be able have a degree that gets me a job that I would enjoy. I know a friend who went to Berkley for Mechanical Engineering and now can't find a job because she was an "average" student.

SDSU's BioEngineering program seems more geared to getting kids jobs straight out of college while UCSB seems to be geared towards getting kids to graduate schools. I'm afraid that if I go to UCSB and decide not to go to med school, I'd be left in a competitive job market without any edge. And, if I go to SDSU then I wouldn't look as competitive for med school and possibly not have the opportunity.

So my question is, which one would better prepare me for the future? I'm just looking for opinions and would like to know what you guys think...

thanks!

ohh..and I know what you're thinking "DUDE those are both party schools!"...... haha I know. I'm not a slacker, or stupid. I have maintained a 3.85 GPA while taking Honors and AP classes in high school...PLUS countless extracurriculars. I got waitlisted for UCIrvine and am only considering going to UCSB or SDSU because these schools truly fit my personality. I'm laid back and like to have fun but I also care deeply about my education and my schoolwork. :]
