Should I Just Approach Another Professor

How do I approach IIT professors to work under their projects?

Here are some of the points you may want to keep in mind.Do not email in bulk. When faculty members see that there are 50 other faculty members in the CC list, it is clear that you want to do internship just to get a tag and may be a recommendation. It shows that you are not genuinely interested in areas in which the faculty member might be working in.Go through the profile and web page of faculty members. It is not a good idea to approach a faculty member who has clearly written on the webpage that they are not taking interns.Only approach those faculty members whose research interests align with your interest. Internship is going to be mutually fruitful if both the intern and the mentor share interest in a research area. Try to read some of the work of the faculty members. If the work still interests you, it might also be a good idea to ask relevant questions about the work/research article in your communication.Apart from CV, many faculty members ask for statement of purpose. Please write it in your own words (rather than searching for templates from the internet) to communicate why you are interested in a particular research area.In your CV highlight the details which is relevant to the area for your internship.Be honest in your communication.

How can I approach a professor from another university for summer research?

A2A. If you have completed your degree, you would apply for an internship. You would contact the professor and ask if he or she is taking students outside of his or her university. Most of the time, professors only have time for their students. If you have not finish your degree, you would not go outside of your university because that research would not count for your degree. It is also disrespectful since your professor has spent time with you, and he should get the benefits of you doing more research. Bottom line: If you have completed your degree, you would contact the professor. Otherwise you stay put.

How would I approach a professor to withdraw from a class?

Just say you need to withdraw from the class. I know at my school after a certain point in the semester you need the professor to sign something in order for you to drop out. I'm assuming that's what you need. It's really non of the prof's business imo but, I'm sure they know you aren't doing well in the class so they will probably know why you want to drop. If they actually ask for a reason just tell them that you're currently failing the class and don't feel like you can bring the grade up.

Professor has crush on me?

Hi everyone,
So I'm a 22 year old young woman and college student. I'm confused because I think my 70 year old something english professor may have a crush on me. I took his course last semester where he would frequently smile and blush if we made eye contact in class, when I entered the room or when I asked him a question after class about the assignments. I do admit that I tried to be a good student (like in all my classes) and I participated in class and laughed a lot since the stories are enjoyable. I always do well on the exams and papers. In comparison, the majority of my classmates were passive and barely showed up to class.

My professor walked around the room when lecturing and usually stood in front of me or sat in the desk to me to share a book and put his arm around my chair. Once He was so close though that his knee touched my hip (he wouldn't move away). I had to move a bit to the right. Another time, He put a book on my desk and I accidentally brushed my hand on his.... I felt embarrassed but didn't say anything and tried to ignore it and he continued to smile a lot... Another time I went to his office to drop off a paper and he stared at me weirdly...

Do you think he has a crush on me? I just would like some advice on how to approach the situation if I ever take another class with him or if I meet him again. I am a good student and I respect him as an authority and person and I also respect myself. I want foster a professional environment.

Thanks!

How do I approach a professor in a different university about a PhD if I'm already in a PhD program?

A2A…There is nothing wrong with reaching out to other professors about their research. Through your PhD you SHOULD be doing it. As part of your research, you should be reading the papers of the professors. Do their current topics interest you? Do they connect with the research you are doing in your current lab? If YES, then contact those professors and ask questions about their research. Build a relationship. Start collaborating. Don’t ask about transferring programs and getting an RA with them….yet.In the meantime, work with your research supervisor to learn as much as you can about your situation. Learn more about the funding situation. Learn more about the research you are supposed to be doing at your current school. Do that research. Build bridges to other schools and programs with your research. Provide them value. Tell your supervisor about this initiative you’ve taken and how you think you can connect his research stream to other programs. Start writing proposals for collaborative research with those schools that interest you. Win a grant or research sponsorship with their support. Now, if your department decides to de-fund you, you’ve built a name for yourself. You could then talk to your current supervisor and say that you’re interested in another school’s program X. They will already know your work and when you and your supervisor say that you are available, they might be ready to pull you there.I would avoid any process that would be academic suicide. Even if you end up leaving the academy, you may want to continue working on these problems in the future.

My professor is hot....?

He is my university professor, 32 years old, single and i am 21. we have been known each other for some time and been exchanging emails. I asked if he can give me his phone number, he looked embarassed, seems donno what to say..i asked him if it is inappropriate, he said he is not allowed and lets talk about it later...Few days agoi sent him another email asking him out for lunch, and he replied saying that I am a lovely young woman and he enjoys talking with me when i visit his office, but for several reasons he needs for our relationship to remain professional... I understand and i respect his professional attitude, coz i still take course in his faculty, and i won't make movement because of his position, but i am still wondering if the feeling is mutual

Is it fine to approach a university professor to volunteer to conduct some research under his guidance if you're not a student of that university?

I once even supervised a High School student! They have this special program where students find a local researcher in an area they are interested in and do research under their tutelage and present at school. Super amazing program. Anyhow, when he first contacted me I almost thought it was some sort of a scam. And then he came for a meeting, a very young man, his Mom had to drive him because he was too young to drive but oh boy was he smart! Understood academic articles like a pro, did a very competent lit review, formulated hypotheses, carried out some experiments… It was a lot of fun.One of the hurdles of working with a professor from a different college is your opportunities to present it. Many schools would pay travel and conference fees for their own students. So I took some students to various conferences, and they had a chance to present there. If you are not from my university, they wouldn’t pay for you…
