Should I Move To Austin

Should I move to Austin, TX?

I've only visited Austin but I absolutely loved it. It is a pretty bohemian/artsy/liberal town, especially for Texas. I did live in Dallas for two years but if I ever move back to Texas it will be to Austin. The live music scene is very big there, all kinds of music. The South by Southwest music festival is the biggest event of the year in Austin. If I were you I'd go to visit Austin at least 2 times before moving, if you haven't already, and one of those I would go during South by Southwest. The summers in Texas are brutal, but Austin is in the Hill Country and has a milder climate than, say, El Paso, which is in the desert. Oh yeah, the area downtown near the river is where all the nightclubs and stuff are...6th Street and the surrounding area. If you are a party person, that is the place to go. Matthew McConaughey lives there too, BTW. However, the traffic there is horrible, especially on the interstate that runs through the city, I-35. Well, good luck.

Should I move to Austin or Seattle?

I live in San Jose and it is mostly an international community, flowing veils, head garb, many languages, etc. I am looking for a city that is more American than international, but is still diverse. It is an earshot within fun nightlife, music, and restaurants, but also quiet clean suburbs. (BTW I am SWM, late 30's, straight. Most of my friends date and marry Asian girls here in San Jose because it is primarily an Asian community. I do prefer the SWF midwestern look).I do not mind clouds and rain - friendliness of the people and good feel for the city is much more important to me than weather. Both cities are always ranked high in quality of life, but it seems Austin is the new kid on the block and Seattle is more of a has been. But Seattle real estate is supposed to be on the rise for many years to come. Please provide suggestions/feedback to help me find a city where I can call home and have a sense of belonging for the long-term.

Should I move to Austin?

Well depends on the why.As an artist or creative type? No, its pretty much pushing artist out.retail, hospitality, food related anything that relies on brick and mortar presence, probably also a no go.If you got a couple hundred thousands to start off with, then Austin is probably for you.Austin ( at this point) is not for people without cars, connections or 5 digit bank accounts. I suppose you could start with 4 digits, but it be a struggle. That Legendary Austin is gone. You missed that boat. If you somehow land a job BeFORE you arrive then its probably gravy. No job and no house things will go bad for you very quickly. Just enough for a couple months rent is not a great idea as rent is ever increasing and the lack of available housing means even with money, it might not be enough for permanent housing.land a job or already own a house are the recommendations I’d inform everyone of before moving there now. oh and DO eat at food trucks. Its the opposite of most cities. the finer food is in the trucks cause graduate chefs cant afford their own buildings.

Should I move to Dallas or Austin Texas?

Hey! I'm from Minneapolis too, my brother just moved to Texas seeking the same change as you! He moved to the Dallas area which my family has always loved! (Growing up we frequently traveled to Texas!) If you move to Dallas, which I suggest, there is a great area to live called South Lake. There are awesome restaurants, shopping, people, and probably a lot of great places to work. Check it out and see what you think!
