Should I Report This Prisoner Who Has An Iphone In Prison

Can you interview someone in federal prison that you dont even know?

You'd need permission from the prison administration for starters. Contact the warden's office and ask about 'reporter visiting' to the inmate.

You'd also need permission from the prisoner himself. No sense heading out there if he won't talk to you. Again, the warden's office can guide you on how to get that permission.

Are you allowed to take a cell phone into a work release (jail) program?

My husband has to do a 30 day work release sentence instead of straight jail time. He wants to bring his iphone. He thinks they'll let him keep it in a locker till he leaves in the morning. I think they won't allow it at all. Or it will get stolen. Does anyone know the policy? We live in Colorado. I looked on my local county website and can't find anything.

How to get a verizon phone to accept collect calls?

I spoke with GTL, Global Tel Link (they are the company that all prison collect calls go through...at least in Ohio) GTL's states they have a contract with Verizon, that Verizon agrees to the collect calls if "prepayed only" through this GTL company; this insures Verizon will not be loosing money. Your cost on the Verizon/cell end it just air time.

The 800 call 4 less, can't work because they can't make a typical collect call to just anyone like you can out here from any land line. Inmates only can have so many #'s and the people they want to call have to agree to want these calls. Then there is a process that it goes through, all billing, blocking etc...is all through the GTL company. It is a monopoly prices can range from $1- $26 for a 15-20 minute call. Crazy! Depends on a lot of things, primarily if your in a local exchange or not. So there is a connection cost, and then so much per minute.

So if anyone else out there is in this situation of having a loved one in prison, and it's vast numbers, considering 1 in 100 people in the U.S.A. Are in prison. The collect calls is highway robbery, for the loved ones out here that just want to stay connected, they didn't do anything wrong; they just still love their family/friends/spouses etc... (The entire prison system is corrupt..But most things are in our world right now) But back to the purpose of this...

Here is the info for GTL Phone # 800-231-0193, to discuss setting up a prepaid account & to make payments (Will get 20% off as opposed to not prepaying) Once you speak with them you will have to fax them a copy of your cell phone bill, circle your name, billing address, phone #, and fax it to GTL at 866-441-7285. Don't forget your loved one/ the inmate, has to program your number in and you have to accept the call stating you agree to pay these calls, once your is # approved and your prepaid, you can start receiving calls.)

If you have problems their customer service # is 877-650-4249.

What is Daily Life in Prison like? (officers and ex-convicts please answer)?

Im writing a story. I need to know in detail. How are things set up. If you have a work out time what do you use? How are the social groups arranged. Whats are the people like. The man in the story is framed for a murder and in jail.

Can my at&t cell phone accept a call from county jail?

I have an AT&T iphone and service with them as well, and YES you can! When you receive the phone call from the county jail, you will be instructed on how to put money on a collect call account for your phone so you can speak with whoever is incarcerated. You have to put money on this account first, or else you will not be able to speak with them. Look at it like a deposit. Once the money is low or used in it's entirety, you will need to add more if you wish to continue being able to accept their collect calls. Trust me and my answer, I do this all the time, because unfortunately my girlfriend is in jail in Colorado. I actually read yesterday on the internet that AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and other major carriers are going to start allowing collect calls to just be added to your bill. However, I still don't believe that applies or will apply to outgoing inmate calls. Outgoing inmate calls are sourced from companies that in most cases strictly deal with collect calls coming out of jails and prisons. (Global Tel-Link, Tele-Com, etc.) So, they are the ones that need to be paid, not AT&T or the other carriers. As I said above, payment comes first and than after the funds are deposited in the account you will be able to accept the calls. How I add funds is over the phone as instructed when I receive the call itself. I use my credit or debit card and add funds in that manner. After that is complete, I am immediately connected to her. Hopefully this has been helpful in any way and good luck connecting with your loved one! Hopefully you won't have to connect that way for long! God Bless! : )
