Should I Take It Easy On My New Used Truck For A While

What is pros and cons of truck bed liners versus spray in liners for my new pickup ?

Spray on liners are permanent, but they hold up really well. They also prevent cargo from sliding around, unlike many bed liners.

Bed liners are cheap and relatively durable, but they will ruin the paint underneath them. So you can never take them out, unless you repaint the inside of your pickup box. I got rid of mine, and put in a spray-in liner instead of painting. Also many bed liners require screws to hold them in place. You are just asking for rust trouble when you screw in to the body.

If you spent the money on a brand new pickup, don't take the cheap way out. Get the spray in liner.

Why are some people easy to get static shock while others not ?

Some people are more prone to static shocks than others. Maybe some people have better conductivity because they have more electrolytes in their bloodstream.

You can do a few things:

For static problems inside your house, buy a humidifier to add water vapor to the air (not a DE-humidifier, which takes moisture out of the air. You wouldn't believe the number of people who get those two things confused.) You can get a plug-in-the-wall humidifier (which you need to fill with water every few days), or you can get a humidifier that attaches to the furnace.

Try different shoes. I know this sounds silly, but the material on your feet can interact with the material in your carpet (usually nylon) to produce extra-large static charges as you walk. Some plastics are worse than others, and natural rubber can make big static charges too, I think.

Replace the carpets. This is not a very easy option, especially at the office, so I don't recommend it.

Are you married? If not, get married, or at least engaged. Okay, just get a ring, as long as it's a metal ring (what else is there, plastic?). Try this: before you touch the door knob (a common jolt point) touch the metal knob with your ring. By making the first contact with a piece of metal, you usually won't feel the static discharge. I do this with my car keys when I get into my truck, and the keys get shocked, not me.

You could also stick a piece of metal chain in your shoe and let it drag on the floor. Supposedly they used to require gasoline tankers to drag a steel chain behind the truck to keep static charges from building up. Really, I'm being a wise-guy, but perhaps you can find some carpet runners or anti-static mats. Look at office supply stores.

If your doctor has some remedy, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I've never heard about any medical solution for static discharge, although some people have an overly electrifying personality!

Why do water tankers in India have semi outlets which leak water all the time while the tanker is travelling?

Sloshing/ slosh refers to the movement of liquid inside another object which is, typically, also undergoing motion. Definition here.Sloshing in a oil/water container can destabilize the vehicle which can cause the vehicle to loose control. In most cases like oil tankers which undergo the sloshing effect, several steps are taken to avoid it, like ensuring that the container is completely filled with the liquid, so that there is no room for sloshing effect to happen and compartmentalization (as explained by Murtaza Rangwala below). But based on my observation in the case of most local water tankers that we see on the streets in India, they don't have compartmentalization - they just have one opening for inlet and outlet . And they also disperse water based on need and mostly have unplanned stops- street by street, this is unlike a oil tankers which unload the oil compartment wise at planned stops (a truck can have many compartments in most cases they have 4), typically they don't drive around with half a compartment of oil.So, based on the way the water tankers typically handle their water distribution vs other tanker it makes it difficult for the drivers to control the truck with less than full tank of water, and given that water is inexpensive and not so dangerous on the road, the truckers take the easy way out by just opening the outlet so that the sloshing effect is minimized. Hope this answers your question
