Should I Take My Gauges Out Before I Dye My Hair Or Doesn

My boyfriend doesn't want me to gauge my ears?

I am 20 and my boyfriend is 24. I met my boyfriend when I was 4 months pregnant and he has been there for us for the past 2 years. He is a very sweet guy. He works full time to pay the bills and I go to college full time while working on Saturdays.. so I don't get paid that much. For the past 3 years, I have been considering small gauges and I finally had enough money to buy them without it putting a dent in my checking account.. so I bought a taper kit for $18.

I have said before that I can't dye my hair, wear bright colored clothes, or go to parties. I want to be as mature as I can for my son but I don't judge people that do.. just my opinion. But I think it's also making me depressed. I used to be VERY into the music scene in my area and go to local band shows. I just don't think this mother look is doing it for me but I don't want to be drastic, you know? I think small gauges are fine because they will grow back if I decided to take them out so it's not permanent.

My boyfriend thinks they are unattractive and gross, a waste of money (I spent $18 for a kit of tapers but he wants me to send them back), and I'm contradicting what I said. He would rather me dye my hair. He also spent $150 on a pair of earrings for me for Valentine's Day that I have worn every day since but he's mad because I wouldn't be able to wear them anymore.

How to Keep My Gauges From Getting Infected While Dying My Hair?

Last time I dyed it, I had them in & they got really infected from the dye. They're all better now, but I don't want that to happen again, so what can I do to keep them from getting infected? I'm thinking I should just cover up my ears, would that work?

Can I dye my hair, gauge my ears and get piercings while on Accutane?

It would be safer to ask the doctor who is prescribing your accutane. The regular warnings are not to take extra vitamin A, not to donate blood, avoid over exposure to sunlight and definitely not get pregnant.

I found this...
"Do not use wax hair removers or have dermabrasion or laser skin treatments while you are taking Accutane and for at least 6 months after you stop taking it. Scarring may result."
...which is a bit more drastic than piercings, but better safe than sorry.
The same applies to hair dye as your skin is extra sensitive.

My gauges hurt are they infected?

well, they're probably swollen because you skipped sizes.

and they probably are irritated.. just do sea salt soaks 3 times a day. you'll see improvements in 2 days..

never use alcohol! its harsh and it dries your skin

itching means that it's healing.. so it's a good sign!

good luck with it all. hope i helped

Should I tell my friend how bad and damaged her hair looks?

In full disclosure - I am a man. Therefore I may be way out of my bailiwick answering this question. However women not being a "special" population but rather - half of it, I feel I can offer a perspective that covers all genders. I think the question at hand here is how close of a friend is this?People can be very sensitive to criticism on their appearance. I've found one of the greatest offenses a person can suffer is to feel they've been subjected to embarrassment or humiliation. Like so many things - the offense is in the eye of the beholder. So if this is a very close friend who undoubtedly trusts you and values your opinion you could probably offer unsolicited commentary without offending your friend. There's an old saying though - manners are the oil that lubricates society. So I would be gentle since critiquing someone's appearance can be potentially offensive no matter how tactfully the comments are offered. If it were me I'd lead in by asking a question such as; do you worry that re-coloring /treating your hair may cause damage? By asking questions, you are essentially opening up the conversation by asking permission for your input. Depending on how receptive your friend is to your line of questioning, you can gauge whether or not you should pursue the conversation further. In fact trying to have a conversation is preferable to telling somebody...anything. Nobody likes to be "told" stuff. Even when it's true. I think it's just human nature. So respect that your friend is able to make their own decisions, even if they're bad ones without having to endure shame or criticism. True friends know about your flaws and choose to be your friend anyway. I thank God for people like that in my own life. My friends grandfather always told him growing up this saying which I thought was great advice. He said " learn as much as you can from the mistakes of other people but never be afraid to make your own mistakes. You'll never learn a lesson any better than through your own experience". Sometimes we want more for people we care about than they may want for themselves. It's their God given right to make their own mistakes. You'll be a great friend if you can love her warts and all!

My parents hate gauges/Ear stretching, What can I do to make them change their mind?

I want gauges, I had gauges up to a size 2 until my parents noticed them and made me take them out.
They don't mind regular piercings or hair dye but they hate gauges. HELP ME CHANGE THEIR MIND! (:

Son wants to gauge his ears?

My 14 year old son wants to gauge his ears.

I personally think ear gauging looks disgusting and weird. I'm all for personal expression [I'm a mother of 2 with a nose and monroe piercing and various tattoos!] but I don't know about the ear gauging.

Can anyone give me some information about it? Like how permanent it is and what its like. Also, do you think I should let my son get it done?

Thanks so much!

Can I put blonde hair color on already bleached hair?

Of course you can put blonde hair dye on bleached hair. It’s a matter of how damaged your hair already is. So ask yourself some questions before grabbing the dye.Are you buying box dye or mixing your own? While box dye is quite a bit cheaper if you are doing this once (hard to believe), it works differently on different hair types. So while a dye might work great in my hair, it might melt yours. Something you have to figure out over time.Or. you can get it done by a salon.Do you have extra curricular activities that could damage your hair more? (i.e. Swimming)Be careful about swimming with bleached hair. Green or dry hair can happen to anyone. How often do you already bleach your hair? You do not want to over process your hair, else you have to cut it off and start over. Can you dedicate time to applying a hair mask at least once a week? This is personal. Not everyone has to do this, but I reccommend it to any of my friends wanting to dye their hair. I do it and my hair has survived being toned and bleached all the way to white. How do you feel about cold showers?Another personal one. Hot water can cause damage to your hair. You don’t have to shower exclusively in cold water, but 2–5 minutes of cold water at the end can not only make your hair shiny, but also improve your immune system (Two birds, one stone). What about dry hair?No matter what you do, bleaching and dying will dry out your hair. You will notice. So, as long as you don’t mind that, then go for it.What is your natural hair color?Naturally blonde hair is easier to bleach/dye because it doesn’t have to be processed as much. Brown and darker hair has more integrity (normally it is thicker) and can handle more dying, but it takes more to go lighter.Sooooo, all this and more comes into play when deciding whether or not you want to dye your hair.Good luck with your decision!

How do I know if I rinsed the semi-permanent hair dye out completely?

If the water is barely tinted the color after you’re done rinsing, you should be fine, even though there may be a tiny bit of dye left. However, if the water is substantially colored, keep rinsing! If your towel gets dye-colored when you’re drying your hair, it isn’t sufficiently rinsed.Use cool/cold water for rinsing, because it helps close the cuticle and keeps the dye from washing out right away.
