Should I Take This Personally Or What Would You Do

Why do I take things too personally?

Your question is also your answer, if you know what I mean.

It's because you don't have a lot of friends, and probably, no offense, and I hope I'm not being presumptuous, not much of a social life. I only say this because it truly pains me to hear guys say things like this. Think about it, when you have lots of friends and acquaintances and something of a social life that involves going out and enjoying yourself in groups, you won't have any time to dwell on the small stuff that happened six months ago--your mind will be too busy thinking about the future and all the exciting things you are going to do.

Also, don't be afraid to take charge in a situation. If the other person isn't talking, then you try initiating. Remember, a lot of people are just as self-conscious as you, and are afraid of not making the "perfect" impression. Well, you know what, nobody's perfect. Don't always be the one to feel like you are under the "microscope," put others under the microscope as well. Don't always be the one seeking approval, be the one whose approval and validation is wanted. If a person doesn't respond to you, they are most likely boring and shy themselves, and you don't want to be around those people.

That's a very powerful idea--if you internalize it, I guarantee you that your social interactions will improve a thousand times over, and you'll have a lot more peace of mind.

What would YOU personally DO?

There’s this freezer we have in our garage. In it is all kinds of meat from 2011. There’s dates on the bags of meat. It’s his mothers food and I couldn’t for the life of me understand why she would keep it there all these years. I talked to my husband about tossing it and apparently that really offended his mother and she got really upset claiming the meat was still fresh. She invited us over for dinner tonight for steak. It wasn’t until after I finished eating that she let me know all the food I just ate was from the freezer that was in our garage. This included frozen green beans, corn, and steak all from 2011. I feel sick as a dog now. I knew it didn’t taste right. I’ve been having a stomach ache and vomiting for the past hour. I’m a nurse and I’m starting a new job tomorrow morning at a hospital. I’m really upset and I feel as though she fed me this food to spite me for suggesting we toss it!

Why do teachers take it so personally if you do not follow their instructions all the time?

Are you taking one minor incident and extrapolating it out into “all teachers, all of the time?” Sounds like it. Not a useful or thoughtful habit. If you are in my lab, and you do not follow my instructions, you endanger yourself and your classmates through your willfulness. That’s selfish and reckless. Take it personally? I never take things students do or say personally. I am responsible for your well-being and the learning that goes on. That’s serious. Why would you ignore my instructions on a class assignment? Those instructions are designed to elicit a specific response- of research and the creation of knowledge and mastery. My point? Through study and experience, I know where we are going as a class. You don’t. I know the standards that students are expected to meet. You probably don’t. I understand the pedagogy behind a certain manner of assignment. You probably don’t.There are reasons why students are given specific instructions. Sometimes, I do not give any specific instructions. I point the student to a goal and say “Get there. Here are the tools you may use.” Those lack of instructions? Those are also instructions.

Can an Employer LEGALLY?!?! take your cell phone or personal property away from you?

At my job they are starting a new rule that when you clock in you have to give a manager your cell phone and you are not allowed to have it back until you clock out... or they have to witness you leave it in your car.

It just doesn't seem right that an employer can demand your property something that they don't supply you with or pay for they are not taking responsibility for it if something happens when it is in there care they are just flat out taking it away from you.

I don't have a car but i use my phone to keep in contact with a ride home. so i can't leave it in a "My" car because I don't have one and that means i would have to give it to a manager. This is a punishment to people who play on there phones at work but I'm not one of them.

(if anyone knows where i can find something that states they CAN NOT take my personal property away could you tell me where to find it )

Thank You

Is it worth it to hire a personal trainer?

Please ignore the ignorant lout and his comments. You can
tell he was obviously brought up in a barn. When I had to lose a considerable amount of weight I did go to a personal trainer. It was someone that works at the public recreation
centre in my city and this was the reason: given your weight you need to extra careful that you are doing exercises that don't hurt you ie your joints like back, knees etc. Also as you are really motivated you make go at it too hard and too fast. If you get
a trainer he or she can make up a program specially for you.
which fits your body build, fittness level, age and any health conditions that you have. I paid for three sessions only so it was really cheap for me less than 150.00 I wouldn't go to a
fancy private gym they will soak you and try to get you sign up for years of sessions which you will never use despite your
present good intentions. The first time you meet with your
trainer you will discuss what you want to do, who your doctor is and does he/she approve etc. then he will take you around and show you the various machines. the next time they usually have a program set up for you and the take you around and you do them while he/she watches to make sure you are doing them ok. then you can start on your own. after a couple of weeks you can have another meeting with the trainer and they will check to make sure that you are doing the exercises correctly and make suggestions about increasing your reps or whatever. That is all you really need a personal trainer for unless you are some millionaire who wants someone to stand by you while you do this. I would also recommend not buying a yearly pass to the rec centre until you are sure you keep going. A lot of them have punch cards for 10 or 20 visits and that is a lot cheaper until you know you are going to keep it up. Another thing that I would recommend (and you will hate this!) is try going to the pool at the rec centre. A lot of them have acquatic exercise programs which are a lot easier for people who are overweight to do. You have the buyoancy of the water to keep you afloat and because any exercise in the water is harder you double the value of the exercise without the real sweat that land exercises have. I hope this helps you. I went regularly to the pool and lost 25 lbs in two months which I was really pleased with and I didn't curtail my eating at all!!
