Should I Tell My Parents That My 12 Year Old Brother Took Cocaine

How can I stop my 16 year old brother from smoking weed?

Well, first thing's first: your brother is not a baby. He's getting older and he's going to experiment and push the boundaries, as is the nature of people. Don't lecture, don't be his "older" brother, be his friend and his mentor. Do activities with him that don't involve smoking weed, and pull him away from anyone who is influencing him, without explicity saying anything. Also contrary to popular belief marijuana is not a gateway drug. It can be, but it isn't. Show him love, friendship, companionship, understanding, trust and have an open mind. Listen to him, instead of talking. He's trying to find himself, and sometimes rebellion is a way that teenagers use to show autonomy. Understand that not every person is the same, and he is not an extension of yourself or your mother, he is an individual and treat him as such. Also some adult responsibilities might help him act more like an adult, and a good way to do that is do volunteer work together, and start asking about college and working and careers because maybe that way it'll show that you're interested and you care, and that might inspire him to care more about himself.

My Thirteen-Year-Old Brother Got Drunk?

OK...Well anyway...Just for a quick overview of the situation, I'm fifteen and my younger brother just came home...He had to be picked up from this centre. He was with a friend who had a bottle of coke, and apparently he slipped rum into the coke and gave it to my brother...My brother drank enough to get drunk.

OK, well my dad is leaving it to me to talk to my brother (at my suggestion, I guess), because I tend to handle these situations better...

I seriously doubt that my brother couldn't smell the alcohol (apparently rum, but I'm not sure), and he was hanging out with his friend and about eight other guys he doesn't know...

What should I say and do? And please no stupid comments like "wo0op his a$$!!!11!!1!1," because I think that is ignorant and stupid...

My little brother was arrested for bringing fake Cocaine to school, please help?

The exact laws on this vary from state to state (assuming you are in the US). Since you didn't specify this, I can only answer generally, and not specifically.

Yes, if you sell fake drugs, you can still be arrested for selling drugs since you are attempting a transaction. The other person you are selling to does not know they are fake drugs, so in the eye of the law, it's a real transaction. For just possessing, though, I have never heard of that. But again, I don't know the laws in every state, and you didn't specify which state this took place in.

Could it also be that your brother is not telling you the entire story? He may just be scared and not want to get in trouble over this.

Should I tell my mom my brother is smoking weed?

Ok, so I just got home from the gym and walked into my bathroom, which connects to my brother's room. My brother is 17, about to be 18 this Saturday. I noticed that his room smelled STRONGLY of weed. He jumped up suddenly when I opened the door and went over to where I was. I asked "why does it smell like weed in here?" and he said "it doesn't. it just doesn't." But I also noticed his eyes were pretty red.
Well....I feel like I should tell my mom, but I don't wanna be "that sister" who rats out her brother. I'm definitely not telling my dad, because he would kick my brother out of the house. I would feel like a hypocrite ratting him out, because I have tried weed twice. I'm 19 now, and I didn't try it till the end of my freshman year of college about a month ago. It made me sick and paranoid, so I'm not gonna do it again.
Another huge reason I feel like I should is my brother's recent behavior. He's been staying up till 4 every morning and sleeping the entire day. He won't help any of us with anything and he stays in his room all day. Yesterday he kept screaming at all of us. My mom asked him why and he said "I'm just having a bad day." She asked him if it was any of us, his girlfriend, or his lack of a job, but he said no to all of them. He's also been acting really depressed. I feel like the weed might be causing this, or making it worse at least.
What would you do if you were in my situation?

Should I tell my mom that my brother smoked weed?

First of YES! Do tell. Dont listen to the idiots telling you weed isn't harmful. IT SURE AS HELL IS!!! My uncle smokes it and has been in and out of the hospital because of it. Unless he is smoking it for medical purposes. Besides people who smoke weed are idiots anyways its pathetic.......it can ruin you I smoked it once and I dont see how the hell people like it. I'd rather slit my throat open and use my own blood as syrup for my pancakes then EVER smoke that nasty sh*t weed again.

Should I tell my mom that my 12-year-old sister is planning to smoke weed?

Tell her it's the biggest mistake she could ever make.Weed really isn't that bad. When I smoked and got high for the first time, I was 16 years old. I couldn't stop laughing, I was having a great time, I was watching a movie and I remember having my mind blown at like every scene.I thought to myself, “wow, this isn't so bad! I'm going to go get some more!”And THAT thought was the moment that changed my life. I started buying weed more. I started off by just smoking a little because I would get really high from just a couple hits. Over time my body started developing a tolerance to the weed. I had to start smoking more to get the same high as I did before. So I started spending more money on weed. After this point, many weed smokers would develop such a tolerance that they really don’t get high anymore. I'm at the point where I could smoke two bowls straight through, and only feel like I had 1 alcoholic drink. Many weed smokers at this point would want to start trying other substances because weed isn't doing it for them anymore. I know a couple people from my high school who eventually turned to cocaine, molly, even heroin. Many of them get this thought in their head (like I did) that, “hey, weed isn't as bad as everyone told me it was. These other ones must be not as bad too!” The ones that started heroin began the same process; using more and more each time because they're building a tolerance. The ones that I know that turned to heroin are now dead from overdosing.Luckily I have the willpower to ONLY smoke weed. Yes, I enjoy smoking weed, but I always wonder what I could have done with my life or what I could be doing/where I could be right now if I wasn't sitting in my garage smoking weed while typing an answer on quora. Where would I be right now if I never started smoking weed when I was a teenager?

How do older brothers feel when they realize that their younger or baby sister whom he always pampered is not as innocent as she seems in front of him & as he perceived his whole life?

I don’t now about older brothers, but as the oldest sibling, I was shocked to find out that my 12-year-old and 15-year-old sister were having regular sex with random guys at some campground. They were also doing some dangerous drugs like cocaine and PCP! I didn’t rat them out to our parents but told them I would call the police on that lot of guys who were much older and the older, slutty girls who lured my sisters into that stuff. It’s one thing to be sexually free when you’re 16 or older and have contraception and to smoke pot or drink moderately, but quite another to be age 12 and risking pregnancy and STI’s, along with overdose and arrest due to dangerous drugs.

What did your parents do when they caught you smoking weed?

Haha okay this still makes me laugh!I'd been smoking weed since I was around 11. I was about 13 and while I was looking for sand paper for a school project, I stumbled across a random seemingly empty coffee can. Curious, I peaked inside and found a rolled up sandwhich bag with green stuff in it. I unrolled it to check out it's contents and found an 8th of weed! I was so excited because at the time I didn't have any. So I dipped in and took a good size nug and put it back before I got caught!!I continued to randomly take some here and there. Making sure I didn't take a noticeable amount, and rolled it up how I thought it was. I did this for a few months, thinking how sneaky and awesome it was…Well one day I ran out so I want into the garage as usual to dip into my parents stash can. But this time, the lid had in black bold sharpie: “Gotcha!!!” and the coffee can was completely empty. I was so scared, I want out the side door and went for a very long walk to think of what excuses I could give them. Nothing was really going to work. So I get back home an hour or 2 later, hoping things would just be left unsaid. NOPE. Haha they were in the living room waiting. My heart was racing, my mind about to explode thinking of my punishment. Starting blushing and sweating. Finally after what seemed like hours of silent parents staring me down, they finally said:“we always roll the bag up differently everyday so we figured you were taking some when the roll wasn't right… you need to ASK us next time. Can't stop you obviously from smoking, so instead of STEALING it from us just ask please.”I sighed a huge breath of relief. “Yes! I'm off the hook!” I thought.“Oh Megann, by the way, your also grounded for 3 months… “Damn… haha almost! They couldn't have been more mellow and nice about it. Surprised the hell out of me that's for sure! They could've done locked me up and thrown away the key for WAY longer then what I got, so that was pretty cool. The same scenario played out almost exactly the same when I got caught stealing their cigarettes too. Haha after I got a job at 16 my mom agreed to just buy me my own pack as long as I payed for them myself.

I've just found out my 16 year old is smoking cigarettes. How should I address this?

I smoked for 20 years. I was lucky. A few years after I quit, my lung x-rays showed no indication that I had ever smoked. My little brother wasn't so lucky. They removed his voicebox. I liked smoking. I would start back up today, if it wasn't for the expense, the health risks, the impact of the smell and smoke on others, the fact that you can't smoke indoors anymore, and the burn holes in my clothes. Really, that's all that's holding me back. But what can you tell a 16-year-old boy? That's what's tough. I hope you can tell him to look out for threats that don't kill you the instant you try them. Things like drinking and smoking can be really hard on a person, but it takes years for the impacts to be seen. Young people have a short-term view of everything. They feel invincible. But if he won't take your word for it, maybe he'll give it some thought if he sees some people like my brother, who has to put his hand up to his throat in order to make a wheezy voice. That guy could sing so well when he was a kid, and that voice is gone forever. When I was young, I was kind of rebellious. Preacher's kids are notoriously bad. But if your son feels like expressing his independence, perhaps he could express some responsibility too. Pay for the smokes. I think they cost an arm and a leg now. Get a checkup each year, and see what his doctor says about his health. The last thing I would tell him is that it's the most addictive shit we know of. More cells respond to nicotine than cocaine or heroin. He'll tell you he can quit whenever he wants. Perhaps he'd agree to at least keep an eye out for the dangers, and to talk to you about quitting when he sees the signs. Good luck to you. And him. He's playing a long game of cigarette roulette.
