Should It Be Illegal That Higher Education Acceptance Applicants Based On Life Experiences And Not

Gay College Application Essay?

No denying you're a good student, but you have to consider the thousandss of other kids that they consider going to those schools. I'm sure they wouldn't not let you in based on homophobia, that's illegal. But your essay sounds a little generic. Lots of people have struggled with their sexuality, what about your story makes it special? Why should they choose you out of the other hundreds, possibly thousands of gay kids who have struggled with sexuality and possibly wrote their essays on the same thing? I talked to a represantative from UNC - Chapel Hill who also worked in admissions and she was telling me the biggest mistake people make is not making their story any more special or different than the next person's. She began to recite exact paragraphs from essays that she read that were virtually indistinguishable from one person to the next.

Friend lied about race on job application supplemental form.?

A girlfriend of mine has been looking for a job for about 9 months. She has been frustrated a lot, because she has a college degree and lots of work experience in her field. Recently, she became employed. She confessed to me that when she filled out the application, and was given a supplemental form that asked about her race - she lied. She now feels that may have been THE reason why she was hired. She now feels that because she previously marked herself as white/caucasian, that she wasn't hired. Now, she's claiming to be hispanic.

She's worried now that she could be fired for lying. Is she at risk to be fired? I know I've filled out similar forms, but never thought of lying. She's so freaked out, she keeps thinking of quitting before she's "found out".

I'm self-employed, so I don't know what would happen if her lie was discovered. Any thoughts?

Is hiring unqualified candidates illegal?

No of course it is not.

The company itself sets the requirements for the position, and they can change or prioritize those requirements.

They can decide, based on their knowledge of the position, the work environment, and their need, whether a candidate is 'qualified' or not to perform that job.

Perhaps other qualities of the candidate make him or her an excellent choice based on life and work experiences? Maybe they have additional skills to bring to the company that they didn't even know they could get? Maybe the candidate agrees to take training to get up to speed?

For example, if a company posts that they require a B.A. in finance, and they receive an application with 20 years relevant experience and excellent references, but the person didn't get a degree in that field, or maybe has no degree at all, but is willing to get one?

Why would it be illegal to give people a chance?

How much gap is acceptable in studies for Canadian visa?

Study gap is not a matter of worry, if you have valid reasons and concerns for the same. In some cases, students get approved even with a gap of 5 years. So if you are having the gap upto 5 years, then it can be handeled. Having gap for more that 5 years can create a issue for getting a visa.

Is it smart to tell in a job application form that you are bisexual or lesbian?

I'm applying for jobs mainly in education, but when I have to fill the application form the send me and ask me what is your sexuality( are you straigt, gay, lesbian, bisexual...?) I get little bit phobic and I can't unswer I'm bisexual. I know that is illegal for companies not to even considered to give a job because the colour, religion, sexual choice... but lets be honest not everybody is open minded and even though they don't tell you to the face you can see it or feel that they have a problem about it.
