Should The Constitution Be Amended So That Obama Can Run For A Third Term As President

Should the US amend the Constitution so that all Presidential candidates must be test for retardation = Bush?

Don't worry about the presidential candidates mental capabilities. We already know most of them are bought and paid for by special interest groups, so it doesn't matter what they know! How about making the voters pass a test to see if they even know why the hell they're voting for a particular candidate!

Should the Constitution be amended so that President Obama can have a lifetime term?

I have joked about it before, but if that happened, I think I might actually move to, say, Canada, permanently. At least they know how to enforce their immigration laws and are honest about their "socialized medicine."

Should the U.S. constitution me amended so that Barack Obama can be president for life?

Absolutely NOT and I voted for Obama. I like my right of choice, and the choice to kick him OUT if I see fit.

Thanks to republicans, our right to elect a president a THIRD or 4th time, if WE wish, was already curtailed after FDR.....because they feared they would never see the White House again, so they limited our choices to just two terms.

I'd like to see THAT amendment REPEALED........and give me back the RIGHT to vote Obama a THIRD term, if he merits one.

Funny how republicans bill themselves as CONSTITIONALISTS, when they were the ones who revoked that constitional right, when it didn't suit them .

Should we amend the Constitution so that President Trump can serve a third term?

Do you really think that you could get enough states to ratify such stupidity? Not to worry, though. He'll never serve a second.

Should the US constitution be amended so Bush can run for a third term?

You know, I've never actually voted for a Republican presidential candidate and have no plans to, but I like the other crazy idea of amended the U.S. Constitution so Schwarzenegger can run for president much better than I like the idea of allowing Bush and his backers to pull more dirty tricks and election/voting crimes to steal another election. I mean, if I had to choose between the two.

What I like even better is an idea the Greens and other third parties want, to do ranked or "instant runoff" voting so that people can rank candidates in their vote (if your first choice gets a small percentage of overall vote, they are tossed out and your second choice is then counted, et cetera) which will allow people to vote for third party candidates without fear that they will be helping a Republican defeat a Democrat or a Democrat defeat a Republican. It would really change the political landscape in the U.S. and show how much Americans really are fed up with what is being offered to us.

Should we amend the Constitution and allow Obama to run for a 3rd term?

Are you kidding me!!! He never should have been reflected with the illegal votes and minority votes to go along with the votes from the gay community is the only way he won .. It's pathetic what this country is turning into, he gives Egypt 200 some tanks and like 20 f16 fighter jets so he's arming our enemy and trying to take our rights away with the gun ban ... He's the worst president we've ever had and he setting this country up for failure and he doesn't care cause he's taking care of his Muslims since he is one and doesn't care about us true Americans from taking our rights away

No, congress broke that a purpose after Franklin Delano Roosevelt died in office the Most popular president ever. The means they used was a constitutional amendment. It is now unconstitutional for a president to run for president (and be elected) more than twice, and even serve out more than a certain number of years if they inherited their first term as vice president when a president was declared incompetent or died in office. So the maximum that any president can constitutionally serve is 10 years.Best would be making term limits for president, vice president, u.s. senators, representatives (u.s.), and supreme court justices unconstitutional.Expulsion by two thirds of a house (Senate or Representatives) will expel a member from that houseImpeachment in House AND trial in Senate for crimes committed before or during office will remove and bar current and former presidents, vice president, cabinet officials, federal government officials, and supreme court justices from ever holding a position of public trust again. These are the only term limits that we need.We vote for president, vice president, representatives, and senators. We can also vote against them.

Should the Constitution be Amended so Bill Clinton can run for President Again?

Yes, let Bill Clinton run against George W. Bush for a third term.

Now that we know about all the financial fraud that was happening on Clinton's watch, I think Clinton would get buried in mud. We also know the outcome of the 1999 banking deregulation that he signed into law, and the result of NAFTA that he signed into law.

That plus the 9/11 attack in planning and preparations on his watch, in spite of multiple terrorist attacks that should have heightened awareness of terrorist activity by then.

Plus now we know Clinton lied to us about WMD in Iraq, when he attacked in 1998.

Sure, it would be fun to see a grudge match against Bill Clinton, now that we've seen what was happening on his watch.

Or should I say, SOME of what was happening... who knows what Clinton era time bomb will blow up tomorrow.

Can we amend the Constitution so that Bush could run for a third term?

Sure we can! But it ain't ever gonna happen. They amended it to the way it is when they had a GOOD president in for more than two terms. It surely isn't going to change when we have a bad one. :-)

There is a process to change the American Constitution.  It is a long and convoluted one for good cause.  Other than a bully pulpit, the President does not have much to do with the process. So lets assume that there is a groundswell of support for removing the 22nd Amendment (which I have not seen any indication of).It would have to pass the House of Representatives (now controlled by the Republican  Party) by a super majority.  I think that this is 75% but it may only be 66%.  Either way, it is not going to happen.  So lets say that it does.It would then have to pass a super majority of the Senate (now controlled by the Republicans) of 75% (or maybe 66%).  Not going to happen.  But lets say that it did.The revised Amendment would have to be ratified by two thirds of all of the states.  It took just under four years from the time the 22nd Amendment was passed until it was ratified and there was little objection to it at the time.  Some amendments have not been passed that quickly.  One took over 200 years.A majority of all states (31) have Republican governments who are not going to rush this through.   So even with a great demand from the voters (which three isn't), there is no chance of repealing the 22nd Amendment.  Even if the Amendment was repealed, it is unlikely to apply to President Obama. When the 22nd was instituted, it did not apply to President Truman who was President when enacted.  This precedent would likely be carried through on the repeal.
