Absolutely NOT. It was a smart move. He's a severe form of abuser.Quickly change your number. Go no contact.This isn't to be mean but, think about why you engaged in a relationship with him in the first place. What did you find attractive about him? It's important to find the root cause to reverse a harmful belief system to lead a happy, healthy life. Take time off to yourself, do something you enjoy and heal. Please learn from this life-threatening situation or it will repeat. I suggest therapy to undo unhealthy belief systems, habits, past trauma etc.Stay away from all abusers. The key to avoiding abusers is you need to be able to recognize toxic; dysfunction. Abusers fly the royal red flags of abuse, manipulation, and lack of empathy. Abuse stems from power and control. Many times it is very subtle and invisible. Google indicators of abuse, learn to recognize them and ghost them instantly as you don't want to experience these lessons again.Learn the meaning of boundaries. Never trust anyone that crosses them, EVER. I promise you will meet many men that are sick in the head and will continue to challenge your boundaries and reality like it's a game to them. They want to conquer you. Trust your instinct, always show them the door ruthlessly. You teach people how to treat you. Driving cross-country with expired tags?
I try to be as fair as possible as a police officer. But unforunately in this type of situation it gets complicated. While I could understand your reasons, I would cite you and have your car towed on scene. Reason being, lets say I let you go and you get into an accident in another town. You will end up having to explain yourself to another police officer. You tell him "oh, this cop in that other city let me go after knowning my plates expired". This will come back to me after a short investigation in IA and I will get into alot of trouble. Your best bet is to contact the registry where you left and see what they can do, and most certainly contact the registry of where you are moving too. As for temp tags, I do know most states have them. Mine doesn't =(
Am I civilly liable for trying to get someone fired?
I am currently facing criminal harassment charges for contacting a person's job and sharing information (all true) about their alcohol abuse and psychiatric issues in an attempt to get them fired. They were put on probation--not fired--and then terminated months later when the employer laid off 10% of it's workers. My lawyer has said I'm lucky to not be facing a civil suit for the lost job as well. If this were to be pursued, on what legal grounds could I be liable? What kind of damages could I face? Also this would be in Maryland court if it matters.
