Shoulder Pain Only When I Reach Back

Pain in my shoulder/upper back?

If the problem has went on consistently for this long, i would definitely see a doctor. When you said it was from lifting trays, my first guess was it was just a strained muscle, but as i read on and since you said it has been going on for close to a year, it is probably an issue with connective tissue under or around the shoulder blade, or possible even with the cartilage or joint in the shoulder. The least severe thing it might be is maybe a few nasty shoulder knots, i have a bad habit of grinding my right shoulder and i have had consistent knots all along my shoulder blades for almost 3 years now, regular massages helped but i stopped going because i cant stop grinding my shoulder so i just deal with the knots lol..Constant heavy lifting is notorious for causing problems, my friend was a waitress for years and it messed up her shoulder quite a bit from constant strain on the same shoulder, over and over again. It wore down the cartilage in between her joints and was basically bone on bone rubbing against each other, she put it off for a long time and ended up having to have a screw put in her shoulder and she had to stop waitressing. If you keep putting it off, you may end up having to have surgery if it is something serious. Right now if whatever it is is caught soon enough, it may be able to be treated with muscle relaxers, massage therapy, or some sort of brace, maybe even some time off work would help from further injury. Your doctor might even prescribe a mild pain killer for ease. In the meantime, try not to put any stress on it unless you absolutely have to (at work), when you are at home, take hot showers or baths, or use a heating pad in the area when it is feeling stiff or hurting. Take ibuprofen for swelling and pain, if any persists.

Left Shoulder Pain; hurts when I scratch back?

My left shoulder has hurt for two days now, and as of today it hurts to the point where I cant reach behind myself to scratch my back which, as you can imagine, is quite frustrating. The pain extends halfway down my upper-arm. I can lift my arm up above my head (with little to no pain.) My right shoulder hurts too but nowhere near as much as my left. I will go see my doctor soon but until I can reach him I'd like some idea of what it could be and how I could possibly lessen the pain? Thanks!

Shoulder pain when i reach behind my back?

Could be related to a pulled muscle. In relation to the issue of the bra what I do when I go to put it on is I turn the back toward the front to buckle it in place and then turn it back to the other way (the way it's supposed to be) to put on. I find that buckling it in the front is easier. Also, there are bras out where the buckles are strictly in the front and you don't have to worry about turning it around after buckling it.

With wiping myself unless it's my backside for bathroom purposes there I just dab the area a little bit. For urinating and cleaning yourself to make it a bit easier you can try getting a spray bottle to fill with water and rinse the area off when done and then just lightly dab it dry (should only take about a minute).

I would also recommend a consultation with a rheumatologist (a doctor who treats diseases of the bones and joints) in case these symptoms (muscle symptoms can occur with arthritis for some people, it's how I knew something was wrong with my leg) to see what they think if you haven't tried one already.

As for the pain meds I don't know what they are giving you but try applying heat to the area if you can. When I have to do that I lie the heating pad on the bed for that area and then lie down and adjust myself accordingly whenever I have muscle pain in that area.

What is this pain in my left shoulder?

You have pinched muscles in your back causing that pain. When you have pinched muscles and you take a breath in, your ribs expand out into the muscles to pinch them to cause the pain you feel that takes your breath away. To get rid of these pains you have to free up your back muscles and here's how to do that:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
for best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
