I think it's because of his origins. He had a traumatizing childhood and anyone with that kind of past is socially awkward and weird. If you see his interviews , you'll realize how blunt he is with extremely weak socializing skills. It's not his fault though. Ellen's show shows the fun aspects of being a celebrity and it's all about gossip. Eminem just can't expose himself in any other way than his music, which I think is probably for the best.
