In college it's a professor. Also, in some schools, if you don't write the e-mail before the class if over, the homework is considered late. If you have an actual illness, go to the school clinic, and get a doctor's note - it may be the only way to get your homework accepted. Not a word of English. Not one. Shame on you for even considering it. You are in Spanish 3. You have taken at least two semesters (two years?) and you don't think you can figure out how to say "I'm sick. I can't go to class today."??? If I were a teacher, I would scoff at English. I would reply, "No entiendo. Escríbeme en español." Your teacher is there to help you learn -- not to be a crutch so you don't have to learn.
