Since When Did The Prem Become Such A Pub League

Why is the Premier League becoming so unpredictable in terms of Expected results?

The clubs who were once referred to us petty mid table clubs are now making efforts to raise the bar of their standards by making signings from outside of England, who have played for clubs such as Juventus, Barcelona and AC Milan. More so, clubs like Swansea, Stoke City, West Ham, Southampton, West Brom and Aston Villa have signed players like Andre Ayew, Bojan, Ibrahim Affelay, Alex Song, Victor Moses, Pedro Obiang, Jordy Clasie, Virgil van Dijk, Solomon Rondon, Idrissa Gueye, who were players on the radar of bigger clubs all across Europe. 3 seasons ago, these clubs signed players from lower divisions or players from smaller clubs of other leagues, such as Jordan Amavi( Nice) and Jordan Vertout ( St. Etienne). Not just this but the the expensive TV deal that the Premier League secured last year has led to a sort of a momentum shift from the bigger clubs to the mid table clubs. The above factor is an effect of this TV deal. The incoming of new, foreign managers has revolutionised the future and the present of these clubs too. Managers like Dick Advocaat, Slaven Bilic and Steve McLaren are highly experienced managers who have got the knack for buying quality from all across Europe too.

Which teams from non English leagues would you most prefer to see compete in the Premier League?

I’d want to see the Scottish teams, Celtic and rangers competing in the prem. considering the pub league jokes that are commonplace, it would be a chance for the Scottish teams to prove themselves. Also more welsh teams, some northern Irish teams and even YouTube teams like hashtag united and other non professional level teams would make interesting additions to the English football league pyramid (though maybe not the premier league itself)Another interesting prospect (though impractical) would be to see some of the dominant juggernauts compete in such a tight league. The likes of PSG and Bayern who win their leagues before kicking a ball(though currently the bundesliga is exciting) would face a proper litmus test here and it would be interesting to see them compete over a marathon run against top teams than just a few sprints in the champions league.

Can Manchester United win this year's premiere league with such a strong team and new coach?

Winning the title is a bit extreme. No offence to Mouriniho or the club. Past 3 seasons have been tough for a club who used to be among the top clubs in europe. Not finishing in top 4 takes its toll on the players , fans and management. To step out of that mentality and challenge for the title is a big ask.Club have made a strong step signing Mouriniho. They have signed marquee players and are looking to further strengthening the squad .If Pogba signs for the club I will say they have what they were missing under Van gaal. A strong and stable centre. You need a top player in that position who can protect the defenders and supply for counters if you want to aim for the top.Defence under Van gaal in the second half of the season was much solid and disciplined. Players like Smalling became leaders and were in good form. With Mouriniho ,I believe defence is going to get better. The area where eyebrows are raised is the striker's position. It is no secret if you want to win the league you want a striker who can give you 25+ goals. That is what United have been missing for last 3 seasons and that is where they need to invest.Ibrahimovic will be efficient but can he remain fit and play majority of their matches?Manchester will make life difficult for their direct rivals. But they have to raise the bar and have to score goals if they want to take the title.

Is there a rule against women playing in men's association football (soccer) leagues? Couldn’t a newly promoted Premier League side sign some of the top female players and instantly improve the technical level of their team?

I have not read any rules as such that would stop playing women in any of the premier league sides. But keep rules aside. Lets talk football.First of all, you have a very low opinion on the quality of players who play for mid-table premier league sides or players who make it to championship sides. You need to clear that off.Mid table premier league sides ( finishing 8-14). Can we call Crystal Palace/Everton, a mid-table side based on their finishing last season. Yes. Lets look at the players that make it into those sides. They aren't Messi's or Ronaldos. They aren't even Suarez's or Lewandowski's. Hell, they aren't even Greizmann's. That doesn't mean the best women player can push any one of their starting 11 onto the bench. I highly doubt if best women player can even make it to starting 11 in a struggling championship side. Delle Ali was playing for a struggling third tier english side 5 months ago has now played for England. It is not because she is a woman. It is because, those players playing for championship sides or mid table premier league sides are trained at a different level to women from their childhood. There is huge money in men's game. Huge. Loads and loads. This often plays a crucial part in the tools available to development from an young age. Those men or boys didn't wake up and started playing for those sides. They were trained since they were 6 or 8 at world class training facilities under guidance of certified coaches, physios, medics and technical analysts. They are totally at a different level technically, physically and emotionally by the team they are even 18.Women may outrun, out jump their male counterparts. They may even execute super skills or show technical brilliance. But they'll always fall short because of their lack of training at an intensity that matches their male counterparts. They'll fall short because of their lack of exposure to a variety of tricks, styles, plays among various other things. They'll fall short as they never have been trained to make an appearance in at least 45 games a season which spans for 9 months with international fixtures thrown in between.Very good question. I would like to hear what others think about it.

Who is the only player to have won the Champions League, Premier League, UEFA Cup and FA Cup and be relegated from the Premier League?

This is a great question, and I wracked my brains for a good 20 minutes before I came up with the answer (and Wikipedia confirmed it for me).I mulled over some possibilities. Alan Smith, Hierro, Ferdinand, Johnathon Greening. There was a stumbling block in each. Then I thought of teams who have won the FA cup and got relegated in a small period of time. I considered Wigan players, then considered Antonio Valencia since he moved to Man Utd, but then I realised Wigan were still in the Premier League when he moved. Then my thoughts moved to Portsmouth. They won the FA cup and got relegated shortly afterwards. But how would that encompass a player who won the EPL and Champions League?Step up the big man with a dodgy ticker.Nwankwo KanuEPL: ArsenalFA cup: Arsenal and PortsmouthChampions League: AjaxUEFA Cup: Inter MilanRelegation: PortsmouthI don’t profess to have remembered all of the above, but I suspected Kanu as a potential answer and Wikipedia confirmed it.Great question. Thanks.

What three teams will get relegated from Premier League?

Bournemouth does not look convincing at the moment, and I think they will be the first team to go down into the Championship this season.  Chelsea, while looking really bad currently, will bounce back in my opinion and go back into the top half of the table during the second half of the season. They are just having the same phase as Borussia Dortmund last season (i.e. struggling in the relegation zone but bouncing back in style), and with the current crop of players they have, it will be ridiculous to expect them to go down into the Championship.  Norwich City is also not looking consistent and is most likely going to end up in the bottom three. Newcastle United has a decent crop of players (i.e. Gregorio Wijnaldum, Daryl Janmaat, Tim Krul), and I am very sure they will avoid relegation. While Villa is off-form currently, a change in manager from Tim Sherwood to Remi Garde can potentially change the situation for the better, since the latter is a decent manager. Sunderland, however, looks really poor in the past few weeks, and things do not seem to get better for them.  My pick will hence be: 16. Newcastle United (saved from relegation) 17. Aston Villa (saved from relegation) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------18. Norwich City 19. AFC Bournemouth 20. Sunderland  Then again, this is just a prediction, and who knows we will see some surprises at the end of the season, just like how Wigan Athletic always successfully saved themselves in the past during Roberto Martinez's reign in the club.

Who do people from oxford root for in the premier league?

Oxford students come from all over the country/world so they would have had a team they support before going to school there.

As per the residents, not all of them have a team they support in the EPL nor do they have to support Oxford United. But without any stats to back it up, I would suggest that those that support EPL teams would mostly lend their support to London teams like Chelsea, Fulham and Arsenal.
