Sinusitis. Help Anyone

Can anyone give me some information on Sphenoid Sinusitis?

The Sphenoidal Sinuses (or sphenoid) contained within the body of the sphenoid vary in size and shape; owing to the lateral displacement of the intervening septum they are rarely symmetrical.

The following are their average measurements: vertical height, 2.2 cm.; transverse breadth, 2 cm.; antero-posterior depth, 2.2 cm.

When exceptionally large they may extend into the roots of the pterygoid processes or great wings, and may invade the basilar part of the occipital bone.

Each sinus communicates with the sphenoethmoidal recess by means of an aperture in the upper part of its anterior wall.

They are present as minute cavities at birth, but their main development takes place after puberty.

Has anyone heard of ALLERGIC FUNGAL SINUSITIS?

I had chronic sinusitis from allergies for many, many years and even had surgery years back. After much investigation, I found a combination of herbs that have worked wonders for me. I still take prescription allergy meds, but by adding these herbs, I've only had 2 sinus infections in 2 years, when I used to get one every month or so. I take cats claw, Elderberry, Silica & Bromelain; one tablet twice per say....and my sinuses are more open now than ever before, and this AFTER the ear, nose & throat specialist told me he wanted to do surger AGAIN.....

Is there a permanent cure for sinusitis?

Single line Answer:Yes, there is.Short answer (in as much non technical language as I can manage):Sinuses are air filled spaces connected to the nose. Chronic sinusitis is long standing infection of these sinuses.Common causes of chronic sinusitis (in an otherwise healthy individual) are allergy or obstruction or both.Allergy - can be controlled well by medical treatment in most of the patients.Obstruction can be removed by surgery. In any case, chronic sinusitis can be treated quite well.Edit:Any problem related to the nose like sneezing, recurrent episodes of cold, nose block etc etc are called sinusitis in common parlance while actually the diagnosis may be something else. The answer above is only for a medical diagnosis of chronic sinusitis.

DIAGNOSED W/SUBACUTE SPHENOID SINUSITIS. Can anyone relate?

It's a sinus infection, and most likely nothing to worry about. Ask your ENT to prescribe zithromax with a refill, if necessary, and it will most likely be better in 5-10 days. I have these chronically, and have found that amoxicillin and some other "weaker" antibiotics don't work...ask for something to knock it out the first time to avoid more visits.

If you have no previous pattern of sinusitis, it probably won't recur. If this becomes a chronic problem, it could be environmental factors working, and you'll want to pursue it further (allergy testing, etc.)

Treatment for Sphenoid Sinusitis, anyone know anything about it??

I was diagnosed about 3 weeks ago. The blockage is 3.6cm long and 2.1cm wide. I have been on Antibiotics for 2 weeks and I have felt no change. I have appointment with Specialist in 2 weeks. I have severe headaches and I get very dizzy, which I have blacked out a couple of times now. I am quite worried. What should I expect from the Specialist? Any idea what he will do? Does anyone know of a good website that will give me all my info I need?
Cheers for your help

Has anyone used "Pe Min Kan Wan formula" for chronic sinusitis?

There is some question about whether this would be the best formula for your needs -- http://www.activeherb.com/bimin/ says:
"Yu Ping Feng Wan (Jade Screen) is often used for allergic rhinitis as well. Te Xiao Bi Min Gan Wan [Pe Min Kan Wan] is more used to relieve the allergy symptoms whereas Yu Ping Feng Wan is more used to adjust the immune function and to prevent allergic rhinitis from recurrence in the long term after the allergy symptoms are controlled. For regular rhinitis, Bi Yan Pian is more suitable for use."

Before taking any medicine, especially in combination with other drugs, consulting with an expert is highly advised. A Chinese or Eastern doctor from your own community would be best, but there is an online consult form. (It costs $30 and I have no idea if they are any good, or just send out form letters!) at http://www.activeherb.com/consultation/

The American Association of Oriental Medicine (reported in http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/alt/china_warn.htm ) warns against using the __United Pharmaceutical__ brand - it is adulterated.

Has anyone ever had a TOOTHACHE with a sinus infection?
