How do Indian parents react to daughter's male friends?
I have a very good female friend since my engineering(Year 2012). Lets call her PP. I guess the first time I visited her house was somewhere between 2014–2015 when it was her Birthday.Her mom hates me. And also PP has a strict Amrish Puri type dad who hates everyone and so it includes me too. But lets not talk about Mr Amrish Puri, because obviously he hates everyone, so there’s no point.Lets talk about her mom. The real question is why she hates me?My friend was about to go through a surgery. And the Pre-Surgery processes were quite painful for her. I went to meet her in the hospital. It was her dinner time.Her mother took out some food and started feeding her. PP was not in the mood to eat due to bandages, pain, etc. So her mom instead ended up eating all the food.Her mom did this huge mistake of eating the remaining food in front of me. I left the hospital, after couple of days my friend had returned home and was bedridden for a month or two.In these days I ended up spreading the rumour, in our common friends, in her office’s circle and also I don’t know which other circles. So that she laughs and forgets her pain.This rumour (Read Joke) got quite famous and eventually her mom also got to know about it.PP’s mom never lets her daughter eat. That is the reason her parents are healthy and she is light weighted. And even in hospital she didn’t let her daughter eat and ended up eating all the food. She did not even offered me the food.This rumour was spreading like fire. News channels were covering it. Modiji was talking about it. Arvind Kejriwal was about to go on fast to protest against her mother.Ok, this is high exaggeration but the scenario was quite similar to this.So the only reason her mom hates me is due to that rumour and not because I am her male friend.This is me and her.Happy Birthday Bhikharan(Priya Prabhu).Edit - I met aunty today, she offered me chicken, her share of cake and also water. Earlier I thought it must be poisoned, but as I am still alive I think it was not adulterated.And also aunty read the answer. And Mr Amrish Puri offered me daru today. Good family :)Edit 2 - She doesn’t literally hate me. Sarcasm is intended.
I want to elope, fiance wants a wedding?
Im in the same situation. I wanted to elope and my fiance wants the wedding. I also did not want to wait forever to get married. You guys are sorta compromising and that's good but your fiance needs to compromise more. My suggestion is elope and throw a bbq.Seeing as you have saved up enough money that can be great.Why rent out a venue?Have it at someones house or just take out your family to dinner (or in his case his family seeing as you aren't close to your mother and she might not be there?) If your fiance doesn't go for the restaurant idea then he's being unrealistic and unfair and you guys can still have a nice reception at someones house. In my situation,me,my fiance and a few of his family members (im not close to my side) are going to a courthouse to get married.That along with the license is only costing us $110. Then we are having a reception at his dads house OR as i suggested to him we share a bottle of champagne with our witnesses,maybe cake and go on our way. You can easily have a reception like this,then again as i said your fiance is being kinda unrealistic to the fact that you guys cant afford what he wants. Sit him down and ask him....whats more important....the wedding or the marriage.A wedding is 1 day...a marriage is a lifetime. Good Luck :) &&&
