Skinny Kitten Has Eye Discharge

Why does my newborn kitten have yellow discharge coming from his rear?

As mentioned already this is normal it is the milk being digested, and a cats first milk that comes through in the first few days is known as colostrum it is of a different constituency and colour to the usual milk,it is full antibodies and helps strengthen a kittens immune system, and when it comes out the other end it is yellowish in colour but is so normal,

as it comes out the other end it shows mother cat is helping him go to toilet by licking his back end this to is usual,so let mother cat see to him as she is doing well as the kitten is obviously feeding and pooping, and try not to handle them to much give her privacy and just check now and again to be sure none are getting squashed,

hope this eases your mind.

What are the causes of abnormal eye discharge?

Eye discharge, or "sleep" in your eyes, is a combination of mucus, oil, skin cells and other debris that accumulates in the corner of your eye while you sleep. It can be wet and sticky or dry and crusty, depending on how much of the liquid in the discharge has evaporated.Sleep in your eyes usually isn't the main cause, but if you notice a difference in consistency, color, and quantity of eye gunk, it could indicate an eye infection or disease. Common eye conditions associated with abnormal eye discharge include:Conjunctivitis- Eye discharge is a common symptom of conjunctivitis (pink eye), an inflammation of the conjunctiva — the thin membrane that lines the "white" of the eye (sclera) and the inner surface of the eyelids.

My kitten is sick. He is skinny, has runny nose and eyes, and his face and neck look swollen?

My kitten (about 5 months old) has been lookin kinda skinny the past few days but had no symptoms of being sick. He was fine last night and has been eating regularly.

This morning when I went to feed my kitties he did not come running out, so I went to look for him. I found him in the guest bedroom Kinda shaky and sniffling.
He has clear discharge coming from his nose and his eyes are a little watery and part of his neck and under his chin look swollen.

Cats often have a version of the herpes virus, feline viral rhinopneumonitis (FVR), rhinotracheitis virus and feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1),It is different from the herpes virus in humans and cannot be transmitted to people. It is the equivalent of a cold in humans and can manifest itself as watering eyes, coughing and sneezing. It's highly contagious to cats,so it is very common along outdoor cats, strays, and and feral cats. Among indoor cats, if one cat has the virus, is it's likely that all will catch it.Although infected cats will carry the virus for life, it tends to affect kittens and cats who are older or sick. It can also flair up when a cat is under stress like moving to a new home or when a new pet joins the household.Bacterial infections can also occur during flare-ups. So it is important to keep the virus under control. Many vets recommend Lysine treats to help build the cat’s immune system and reduce flair ups. You can also buy it in powder form that can be added to the cat's food.Once symptoms are present, your vet can treat with antiviral medicine.

One of my kittens is thinner than the other.. but they eat the same amount...?

they are 7 weeks old now and i feed them 3-4 times a day like i was told to.. one of my girls is a chunka [not fat though.. compared to the other kittens ive seen in my life.. shes a good weight]

and then we have my other girlie who is thinner than her. definitely not too thin but i think she should be a little more meaty.

they have their own food bowls and eat the same time and the same amount..

both seem healthy and full of life

so should i be worried?

what can i do so that my one can gain some weight but my other stays put?

remember they are still kittens so they need to be eating often still to grow and all that.. so i dont think i can just take away meals.

thanks =)

Perfume on kittens?

Hi Kitty. I see you're doing a sterling job of rescuing poor abandoned fur babies again. I think you're a wonderful human being!!
With regards to the perfume smell you could give the kitties another bath, but with them being so small, I don't think it's a very good choice of action. You could wipe them with a damp cloth daily to help the smell disappear quicker, or you could
leave them be and let the smell wear off, poor babies. It should go after three or four days.

One of my big MC clutzes knocked over one of my hubby's cologne bottles one day and managed to get tons of it on his head. I gave him two baths, a no mean feat to get washed and dried each time because of his size, and he still smelt of it, although it was a nice smell, thank goodness not a Hoochie Mama's ;) But, it did go after 5 days. I was more concerned of him licking the perfume and it making him sick at the time, the lingering smell was an afterthought concern, really.

I hope all goes well at the vets and they get a clean bill of health from them.

My kitten has goobery eyes, how can I clear them up?

Discharge from a kittens eyes could be a sign that he is suffering from an upper respiratory virus (basically a kitten cold). This is very common in young cats, especially cats off the street or from a shelter or an unknown origin. URIs are quite easy to treat if you catch them early, but they can become very dangerous to your cats health, often turning into pneumonia and occasionally in death. I would definitely recommend making a vet appointment for your little kitten as soon as you can. He is 8 weeks old anyway and is at the age that he should start getting vaccines.

What r good signs of a healthy kitten?

clean eyes and ears white teeth and they should feel healthy not too skinny

Why is there a thin white film on my cat's eyes?

Interesti g question; more to the point, ypu jabe a very interesting pet. Look up “nictitating membrane.” Some call it “third eyelid.” Unusual to find in cats. Usually see them on on reptiles, water-diving birds to protect their eyes while swimming underwater. Beavers, however, also have the thin, semi-transparent skin layer that stretches over their eyes when swimming underwater. Are you sure wjat you habe is indeed a cat, and not some rare species of beaver? Just kidding.
