Skype Is Making All Other Audio Muted I

How do I play music through Skype?

Assuming a Windows environment, you'll first need to Enable “Stereo Mix” in Windows. Once you've done that, go to the Skype audio settings (Tools / Options), and set the Microphone to be Stereo Mix.Then, call up the other Skype party and start the music playing on the local PC. The other end of the Skype call will hear the music down the line.

Skype is making all other audio muted, I've tried everything so what else can I do?

I've tried going to tools>options>audio settings and messing around with all of that.
I've tried installing the latest audio driver for my laptop
I've tried setting the windows audio settings to 'do nothing' when i start skyping
ive tried everything here: http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Sound-problem/m-p/1431897#M119414

I've tried re-installing skype and rebooting my laptop several times as well.

This used to never be a problem until now. When i go on youtube, everything is fine and i can hear. But when I try to make a call on skype the first time it will say problem with playback device. When I call again, everything like youtube videos and stuff on chrome goes muted, but I can still hear the sound it makes when someone sends me a message on skype. It's seriously frustrating me and if there's a method of fixing this that I've missed, please feel free to share.

Thank you.

Why does my computer say "No audio output device installed" when I DO have speakers and they ARE plugged in?

Thanks, Brian..great info for someone, I'm not sure for me (yet)! I'm still trying.

I have Vista, but I have no idea whatsoever what a soundcard is or how to find a number for it.

I did try to let the internet be searched for a driver, but it didn't take just a couple or three minutes---it was still looking nearly an hour later! That's why I finally gave up and did the Realtec update--which didn't work. I still have an icon at the bottom of my screen that shows "No audio device is installed". (Sigh)

Is there a way to eliminate background noise from Skype? I work from home and my neighbors dogs bark, and so this is my main problem.

I’ve used Skype (Skype for Business, if we’re being picky) extensively - it was my main phone at my last job, and I must have spent thousands of hours on Skype calls in that time.I have the luxury of being in a fairly quiet house, but my problem with noise came when I was in work - we had an open plan office, so other people’s conversations were a potential source of noise when I was on a call. The thing that I learned through using Skype extensively is that it’s all down to your headset. You are using a headset, aren’t you?If you’re not using a headset, the chances are that you’ll have some sort of fairly wide-field microphone, which will pick up every little sound within half a mile of your computer. And you don’t want that.Headset microphones are designed to pick up sound at a fairly close distance. Try positioning your headset microphone so that you can almost touch it with your lips. If you get too much in the way of wind sounds, move it further away, but in general for noise rejection, closer is better. Some headset microphones care about which direction they’re facing in, too. If you’ve got a foam windshield on there, take it off and have a look - are there holes in one side of the microphone capsule? If so, make sure they’re pointing straight at your mouth rather than at the ceiling or the floor. Finally, once you’ve got the microphone in the best place, you can try altering the microphone volume in Skype’s settings. If you have this turned up, then it’ll amplify everything it captures, including distant dog barks. Turn it down a bit, and everything gets quieter. Set it to a level where you’re still audible, but the unwanted noises are quieter.

On skype we have a group call going and I can't hear?

First Make sure all of you are using the latest version of Skype.

Please install over what you have from here, when prompted please click the run or open button:

http://download.skype.com/SkypeSetup.exe

If your contacts cannot hear you, it can be either on your side or theirs.

Please confirm that you have done the following:

If you go in the Tool menu, then Options, you will get a section called Audio settings.

There you can chose the right Input device, in your case you want the microphone of your webcam, and once it is selected try talking and you should see a "green line" showing as you speak confirming that the device is properly recording.

If the green line is short, you might want to boost the volume by moving the blue dot to the right. You can also uncheck the "adjust my volume automatically" since it can put your volume very low every time a loud noise is caught by the microphone.

If the camera microphone is not listed, installing your webcam software again should make it available after a reboot.

After That, try making a test call (Echo/Sound Test Service). If you can record your own voice and hear it played back to you, then the problem may lie with the person you are calling. If so, ask them to follow these instructions.

My laptop speaker keeps making this farting sound... How can i stop it?

My Asus G72-GX laptop has a broken speaker... (Left speaker) It constantly emits this farting noise and will not shut up... Muting does not help and plugging in headphones or speakers in the microphone jack doesn't do ANYTHING. I had to shut off the Driver so I currently cannot hear ANY sounds. Is there a way to break the single speaker so I can at least plug some headphones in and talk on skype without some farting noises? Repair would cost too much money.. I already attempted to open the back panel and find the speaker's wire but failed.. Help?...
