Slightly Painful Inflammation On Lower Very Back Of Gum

I have Inflamed gums from an infection and finding it very hard to eat, what can I do?

Hello
are you still flossing and brushing your teeth? I know the gums hurt but you must still floss and brush to remove plaque and bacteria. I had the flu over Xmas and my gums became sore due to me having a low immune system. Sounds like your immune system is fighting off your sickness bug and in doing so has become low and hence the gum infection. First of all gargling with warm salt water( 1 table spoon on salt added to a glass of warm water) 4 times a day will help clean the gums and kill off any infection.

Reasons for swollen gums below

* Infection from a virus or fungus
* Gingivitis
* Poorly fitting dentures
* Sensitivity to toothpaste or mouthwash
* Side effect of medication
* Malnutrition
* Vitamin C deficiency (scurvy)
* Pregnancy
* Bacteria buildup

You need to take in some vitamin C to boost your immune system. Try drinking some orange juice which is full of vitamin C. Use an anti bacterial mouth wash which will help kill off the germs and avoid sugar as sugar just turns into plaque . Avoid fizzy drinks and acidic foods as they can irritate the gums even more. Drink milk and eat yogurt and soft cheese as they are easy to eat and kind to your mouth. Maybe make a smoothie up using some fresh fruit( non acidic fruits mainly) or make a milk shake up using a blender which will have calories in and energy and goodness it in. I drank milk shakes when I had the flu. Banana milk shakes. I also found pineapple milkshakes really nice .

Other things you can try on your gums are clove oil which will sooth them and help calm the pain. Green tea is also great for it's calming effect. Another good one is to put some salt in ginger and make a paste and then rub this carefully onto the gums 4 times a day. And be sure to drink plenty of water. Can you try eating some other soups too, other flavours that are mostly liquid?

If your gums do not get better within 1 weeks I would go and see your doctor or dentist . Hope they do get better soon and get plenty of rest and try and boost your immune system back up .

Take care

Slightly white bump on gum under infected tooth.?

Ages ago i had a root canal, which failed and it got reinfected, it was patched and i was given antibiotics.
Now, before i could go back to the dentist for the treatment to seal it off permanantly and for the dentist to finish the job, it got infected again and i had a large golfball sized lump protruding from the right cheek, and was told it was an abscess.
I got an emergency appointment and they concluded the roots were infected or something, i was having severe pain in the gum and when i clenched my teeth it seemed like my tooth was pressing down into nerves or something. pretty excruciating.
Now ive noticed a bump, which has been growing very slowly over the past few days. Its on the gum next to the tooth which is infected, its been growing slowly as the lump in my cheek it getting less painful and getting smaller. It looks like something is pressing from the inside, as its kind of whiteish like the bloods being pushed out by something pushing forward.
Its excruciating to touch it, even running my finger over my cheek where the bump is on the gum makes me want to cry from the pain, lol.

Any idea what it is? Is it the pus or similar from the lump in my cheek working its way to the surface?
Should i pop it? will popping it relieve the pain? Is it even able to be popped?

Cheers.

Gum pain in the back of my mouth, behind the last tooth..?

The gum looks swollen and it kinda looks like a lump. It hurts a lot to eat, drink. swallow, and even talk.

What could it be?

I've taken pain medication and it barely helps at all, and the pain of it when I swallow when my toungue touches it on accident wakes me up at night..

any ideas on what could be wrong?

What causes pain in the back of your gums?

It depends:Are your wisdom teeth still there? If so, then it could be either Infection of the underlying gums, or eruption of the hard tooth. Eruption is OK - IF the tooth is straight up. If the tooth is leaning into your next tooth, it might destroy the good 2nd molar. You Need an X-ray.2. Are your teeth clean, or has it been over a year since a professional cleaning by a dental hygienist? If the lower inside areas have mineral calculus at the gumline, this can cause inflammation. Any sign of infection of gums or teeth is dangerous and you need attention and services.Infected gums destroys the bone. Do the right thing- see a dentist.

What is causing my gum swelling?

I have a large amount of swelling on my lower gum line below the second tooth from the back. It started a while back and caused the tooth to feel loose and the gum and jaw bone below the tooth to be very sore. Now the swelling has gone down some but is still pretty big. It feels like a blister almost. The tooth no longer feels loose and my jaw bone doesn't hurt, but the swelling is still there. What is it and what can i do to make it go away? I have made a dentist appointment but it is driving me crazy in the mean time.

Sore, slightly swollen gum and white spot?

Part of my lower right gum is slightly swollen and inflamed but the pain comes not from the nearest tooth but the gum just below it. And when I take a close look I can see a tiny white spot there and the surrounding gum is quite inflamed. The tooth itself isn't painful and I have no pain when I tap on the tooth as I wondered if it could be a dental abscess. My teeth are not out of line and the discomfort I have from eating only comes from the inside of y cheek rubbing against this sore spot on my gum.

I am currently holidaying in Greece and not due to return until Saturday so getting to a dentist isn't really an option as it's not exactly an emergency anyway and it does respond to anti-inflammatories to ease the pain.

But I would like to know what this could be. I've had gum infections before when a tiny pocket had formed between the tooth and the gum but this feels different and there don't appear to be any gum pockets around the teeth in that area.

My dental hygiene is good - I brush twice a day and use Corsodyl mouthwash daily.

My gums are swollen and putting my retainer in is unbearable?

First things first... did you stop using your retainers for a long time? you should have used them in a pattern such as day and night for a year, only for nights for another year twice a day for 6 months twice a week and so on (the periods have been told to you might be different) but in any case you didn't put them on for a while and if there is a shift that has happened so that unbearable pain is happening go back to your orthodontist.

If you think that your pain is due to gum swelling, first boost up your oral hygiene, brush, floss and use mouth water! Clorhexidine or Listerine (which one is easier to access in your country but keep in mind that the first one is found in a pharmacy and is a drug you should use for a week at most where as the latter is a commercial mouthwater but a strong one and you can use for a longer time) You can use another one too..
If the swelling is gone with the pain in a couple of days you are safe but if not, hurry to your orthodontist. A removable apparatus to realign them might be done and later maybe fixed retainers could be semented...
