Slow Pc-processor Rating Going Down. Help

What's a good processor speed for a laptop?

It all depends on what you want the computer to do for you. For example:Lets say you just want to browse the web, watch Netflix, Hulu, create / print documents, pay bill etc then you can get an i3 / A6 (AMD) By the way don’t let people tell you AMD sucks compared to intel because for THIS type of use NO ONE will see a difference in performance. Literally. Regardless of what benchmarks say, it all depends on actual use. 4GB of RAM would be fine for this type of use.For casual gaming / light photo editing or heavy multi-tasking I wouldn’t go lower than an i5 or the AMD equivalent with at least 6GBs which would be pretty decent performance. If you’re video editing though, integrated graphics chips give slow rendering. Although if you’re patient then it really doesn’t matter. For example on my laptop there is an integrated intel 5500. Took about 10 minutes to do render an 8 minute video which… for me is a bit annoying.Hopefully you get the general idea. It’s not just about CPU speeds alone though. Different tasks require a combination of hardware. So for example if you’re using an i7 but only 4GB of ram with integrated graphics to play games, the performance for something like Call of Duty would suck. BUT if you have an i7 with 8GB and a dedicated graphics chip, the game would play A LOT better and you’d be able to have higher visual quality settings. But if you’re just doing general home use as I mentioned above, getting an i7 with 8GBs and a dedicated card would give you the SAME performance as an i3 with 4GB and an integrated graphics chip simply because you’re not using the computer in a way that would require that extra power. You could have a $3 thousand dollar Apple computer next to an i3 and if you’re just watching Netflix or surfing the web, you won’t see a difference.Hope this helps.

How good a measure is processor speed (in GHz) when comparing the relative speeds of two different computers (assuming benchmark ratings and reviews are not available)?

Not much at all.14 years ago you could get a 3.8 ghz Pentium 4Now lets compare that to the 2018 Core i3 8100 (so what is used in office PCs, not even a high end model).Intel Core i3-8100 vs Pentium 4 3.80GHzThe “slower” i3 has a single core speed 212% faster and overall speed of 718% faster than the pentium 4, in spite of being 0.2 ghz slower. The only scenario where clock speed is a useful measure is between the same model lines (like an i5 8400 vs i5 8600).The instructions per clock is dependent on the efficiency of the architecture and is basically how many instructions it can perform in a single cycle. The single core performance is essentially Instructions per clock (how many instructions it can do per cycle) * Clock Speed (the ghz processor speed which is how many clock cycles it can do per second. In tasks that can utilize more than one core/thread then you have to also look at how many cores/threads the cpu has.Even looking at same generation CPUs can be very very different, an i7–8750u is MUCH slower than an i7–8700. The u suffix is for laptops and that model is low power/low tdp with 4 cores/8 threads, while the normal i7–8700 is the desktop version with much higher clock, 6 cores/12 threads, and more Instructions Per Clock.

My PC is running very slow, having 2 GB RAM and Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07 GHz. How do I make my PC run faster?

Get a new PC. I think that is your best option.Your system is very old and even when it was new it wasn't that good. 2 GB of Ram is not enough nowadays, a decent system has at least 8. So normally you would get some Ram, stick in and be done with it. Your processor runs with DDR3 Ram so if you can get some ram sticks that would help. You could also get an SSD. The problem with both of these upgrades is that you will not get your money's worth of performance. My guess is that you would pay around 35€ for 8 GB's of 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM and 30€ for a 240 GB cheap SSD, so total 65€ minimum (if you buy new parts based on prices in Greece). I don't think it's worth it.Another option is to install a lightweight OS like Puppy Linux or Lubuntu. Again I don't think this is a very good option, most Windows users struggle with Linux. If you only want your PC for light tasks like browsing, watching films etc then you can try this but I doubt you will be very pleased.Coming to the ultimate solution, a new system. You can buy the parts and build it your self if you are good at this kind of stuff (building a pc is easy, don't listen to anyone saying otherwise, you just need to do watch a couple a YouTube videos) or have a specialist build it for you (for a price of course). My guess is that since you are using such an old system that you cannot afford a new one so what I suggest is the you go with an AMD Ryzen 3 2200G, no GPU, a B450 chipset motherboard, 8 GB of 3000–3200MHz DDR4 RAM, a small SSD for the OS and a 400W PSU. You can of course use your current case and HDD and monitor and your PSU if it is sufficient. That system would cost 300–400€.

Upgrading a processor for a Emachines EL1352G-01w?

The EL1352G-01w is one of those energy efficient computers and the processor only uses 45 watts. I want to upgrade the processor but the ones with that low of a rating don't really appeal to me. The computer itself is said to be rated at 220 watts. So my question is, do you think this rating is overestimated? Might there be enough play for a dual core processor running at 80 watts? I really don't want to upgrade the power supply due to cost. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks.

My Windows 10 is running slow. How do I fix it?

Windows 10 is one of the most optimized OSs. It is known for it’s simplicity and smoothness. The reason that you are not able to run windows 10 smoothly may be because of your hardware. Upgrading your RAM, changing your CPU or upgrading your existing HDD with a faster SSD will bring noticeable changes. If that’s something that you do not wish to do, then here are a few tweaks that you can try out to improve your PCs performance. To improve booting speeds:Open Task Manager and go to the Startup tab. Disable all the applications that you think are useless.Search and open Power Options. Click on Choose what the power buttons do on the left side of the window. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable and tick Turn on fast startup under the Shutdown Settings menu.To improve general performance:Go to Power Options and select the High Performance power plan.Search and open System. Click on Advanced System Settings on the left side of the window. Click on Settings (under Performance). Select Adjust for best performance.Download and Run CCleaner.Search and Open Notifications and Action Settings. Disable all notifications.Open Cortana Settings and disable everything.Search for %temp% in the Start Menu. Delete all files present in the folder that pops up.Defragment your drives regularly using Disk Defragmenter.Clean your drives using Disk Cleanup.Hope this helps!

What processor is best for an internet cafe? Is it Pentium or Amd?

If you will add some more details will be much easier; for instance, if you plan to have an Internet cafe with or without games on workstations.
Still, for a start and a real picture idea, read "Internet Cafes Common Mistakes" at http://www.ccautosoft.com/internet-cafe-...
(I think it helps a lot !!!)
Also, take a look here ->> http://www.tinasoft.com/easycafe/specs.h... for future plans.
So, what is the main difference between Pentium and AMD processors?
Both chips are very similar, but due to marketing, they seem very very different from each other. The primary "marketing" difference is the way they claim their speeds.
The Intel chipsets (Pentium, celeron) use MHz as a speed factor. IE "This Pentium 4 chip runs at 3000 MHz" (IE a Pentium 4 3.0).
The AMD chipsets do not use a MegaHertz rating for speed because they believe doing so would make their chips seem slower than their Intel counterparts. This is due to the difference in instruction set handling that AMD uses, and is too technical to really get into here. Instead you may see an AthlonXP 1600, etc. Apply the following formula to determine the "Pentium" equivalent MHz speed. MHz = (XP rating/1.5) + (500/1.5)
For example, with an Athlon 1600, the math would break down like this: MHz = (1600/1.5) + (500/1.5) MHz = (1066.66) + (333.33) MHz = 1399.99
Which would be equivalent to the last incarnation of the Pentium 3 (at 1400 MHz).
Because Intel has enjoyed longer commercial success than AMD, you can typically find comparable AMD chips for half the cost. This has to do with brand loyalty and advertising costs as well as the types of memory used in both chips. Intel uses more expensive RDR RAM while the AMD chips use DDR RAM. That said, the RDR RAM is faster (533 MHz versus the 333 MHz of the DDR RAM) and helps to soften the blow of the cost of the chips to the consumer.

Good Computer Processor Speed?

Anything over 2 GHz would be considered modern, 3 GHz as fast. But nowdays the clock speed isn't a good metric to use, since most processors are now multicore, have insane caching algorithms, instruction sets, etc that make the most difference. Search for CPU benchmarks and you will get a much better picture.

Also try to find the battery life of the system. That's the number one thing people don't look at before they buy a laptop.

Does it slow down your computer to have multiple browsers downloaded?

No, not to worry, installed browsers will have no effect on your computers speed, unless you happen to have all of them open at once.

Programs such as Firefox, Chrome, and other browsers only use up system resources when open. When not running, the only thing they are taking up is extra space.

Cpu speed is downclocked? Intel I7 3740QM rated at 2.7 ghz?

Hi, I have purchased an Alienware 18 MX laptop and it has a Intel I7 3740QM processor in it. The cpu is suppose to be rated at 2.7 ghz for normal speed. But my cpu speed is rated at 1.2 ghz when I checked it on cpu-z and also pc wizard. I try to turbo boost it to 3.7 ghz but that doesn't work either so what is the problem here? Please answer people thank you.
