What are some slow, melancholy Victorian era piano songs?

The Victorian era corresponds fairly well to the Romantic period in music.

Here are some ideas:
Several of Schumann's Kinderszenen could work

What's the name of the piano song in the Doubletree commercial? The slow one that sounds like a Satie piece?

I don't know.

I need a slow piano piece of medium/easy difficulty?

Tell me some of your favourite classical pieces to play on piano. Not too hard, but no simple stuff. Sad is good, but not scary. I don't want anything amazingly famous, but just something nice and slow and pretty. If anyone suggests Bella's Lullaby, i will shoot them. But, i guess instrumental pop is...fine. Thankyou in advance :)

Looking for name of slow, sad song with female singer from 2007/2008?

I think it was a one-shot from the singer, and it was about love (of course). I remember something about lights on the pavement maybe, and it wasn't played that much. I know it's not much to go on! Thanks for any help!

What are some relatively easy piano songs, but are in unusual time signatures?

Unusual time signatures... interesting. When you say unusual I am going to assume you mean compound time: 3/8, 6/8 and 9/8 etc.Because simple time 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 are very common. But I haven't seen any scores with 7/4 or 4/12, yes they exist, the only two I know that aren't time signatures: 1/1 because it is impossible to conduct and 8/4 because we already have 4/4.There are a few easy onesSuch as :Beethoven Fur Elise 3/8To be honest that is all I can think of. O-OTry playing some Mozart some of his work is not that hard and has nice rhythm but not really Time Signatures. Also Bachs' Inventions (though Difficult, have very strange, hard and repetitive rhythms) try playing each hand separately. Instead of together to make it easier. Also look for jazz music and other non classical pieces, they tend to have very different time signatures. The problem is most composers only use those T.S. (Sorry I got tired of typing it) In small parts like two or three bars or as the first bar. There is not really a lot of pieces with those types of T.S as the Major T.S.As for unusual rhythm:1. It's hard to say goodbye by Michael ortegaNot necessarily easy but it is a lot of repetition2. There is a song by a person called F. W. Meacham called American Patrol. It has 2/4 T.S which is quite rare and has nice rhythm. The major problem is most song with unusual T.S. That I know of are quite difficult so you might not find many.I struggled to find these few examples because I was looking for something Easy.I suggest asking someone to compose a few bars for you with unusual rhythm and T.S. That way you won't know what to expect and they can increase the difficulty as you progress. Also try some composing yourself it does wonders for sight reading, playing rhythm and you can add your own time signatures.Maybe even the dreaded 7/4 *gasp*. Because legend has it that all conductors hate 7/4 because it is incredibly hard to conduct..P.s I wrote a small concerto completely in 7/4 just to mess with them, it's never been performed, so I an still waiting >8-D.

Why is the Mozart Piano Sonata K330 in 2/4 time signature and not 4/4?

Why is the Mozart Piano Sonata K330 in 2/4 time signature and not 4/4?First, the most obvious answer….because Mozart wanted to compose it that way. Composers get to choose.Second, music in two feels different than music with four beats to the bar. The two beats are strong, then weak, and create a forward movement which mimicked a popular dance of the day (which was also in two). Marches move the same way, for the same reason.Music in four has a really strong - weak - kind of strong - weak movement which suggests moving from side-to-side. Most pop and dance songs are in four for this reason.Third, 2/4 time in the Classic period suggested the piece was faster, while music in 4/4 was generally moderate to slow. Long notes, like half and whole notes, were used for fast pieces, and short notes -eighths and sixteenths, were used to fill in slower pieces. This piano sonata fit the Classic mold for time signature, note values, and mimicking the popular dances of the day. All together, it is just more evidence that Mozart had the style of the Classic period down cold.
