Small Reddish Orange Mites On My Plant. Are They Harming The Plant

Is the papaya plant poison? Will it harm animals if they eat it?

The sap of a young papaya plant contains a powerful enzyme called papain. Throughout history man had found the sap of the papaya to be an irritant in the intestines. You get the runs. I didnt think it will kill you though

Ok I searched some more and it seems that in india the sap was used i to induce abortions.

How do I kill spider mites in my plants?

Spider mites are very small, usually invisible to the naked eye, they look like dust on the back of your leaves. A large bug that looked like a crab or spider might be this, a crab spider. They are useful to have in your plants, eating the larger bad guys. They come in all colors, including brown.'White critters' could be white-flies or mealy bugs. both will kill your plants, the mealy bugs will be very hard to get rid of, take them outside to spray them, you may have to use something a little stronger than soap, but try the soap first.Hope this helps!

Are spider mites of any harm to humans?

I’m not a doctor, but I have known of people who became allergic to them, and some people develop dermatitis, much as chickens and other fowl can to the mites that affect them. Not everyone is affected, however. What I’m positive about is that if you leave them untreated, they can and will do substantial damage to any indoor plants you have as well as outdoors.

How do I get rid of tiny red ants in my vegetable garden before I plant my tomato plants?

You don’t!If you insist on getting rid of them, dig the nest up with a shovel, or use hot water if it’s wedged between cracks. But before you do, consider this:Practically the entire land surface of the Earth is part of the territory of an ant colony. Like human states and countries, each ant colony has a surface area where the ants patrol. Although there can be some overlap, especially between colonies of ants of different sizes and behaviors, the line where one ant colony’s territory ends is often where the next colony’s territory begins.Ants serve a vital role in ecosystems, eating dead or rotting material like fallen fruit and small animals, and eating pest insects. They communicate with pheromones and bring each other to where food is more abundant, so a nearby ant colony can keep the population of pest insects from exploding in an area where the ecosystem has been disrupted—particularly useful in a vegetable garden that you turn over and till every year. Some ants become a problem in the garden when they start “farming” aphids. They might protect the aphids from other predatory insects and in turn eat the sugary substance that aphids secrete. Only some species of ants do this, but when they do, they can have a counter-productive effect on pests: instead of keeping the population in check, they’ll foster a population boom. Also, occasionally, ants will discover and carry off your seeds before they sprout, but that’s rare.If you have a colony of very small sugar ants or something similar, be glad the territory isn’t being maintained by an ant species that does farm aphids.Sure, you can poison or kill the ant colony, or dig it up with a shovel and hope the survivors set up camp somewhere else. But you’ll end up shifting the borders and inviting another nearby colony to absorb the territory. If these ants aren’t causing any obvious problems, I recommend sticking with the ones you know.

Tiny red spiders / mites?

Ok, I know this has been asked before but there weren't any answers as to how to get rid of these really teeny tiny red spiders. They leave a red streak when you smash them. They are in my mailbox (and I end up with them all over the mail no matter how fast i run out to get it!). They are also all over my pool deck. Unfortunately, i can't use a chemical due to the areas they are inhabiting. Anyone know of any "natural" way to get rid of these little critters??

♥ Is it normal to find tiny bugs inside the soil for indoor plants?

It sounds like spider mites. Look on the undersides of the leaves of that angel plant. You should be able to see them there. Better yet, get a piece of white paper. Set it next to the plant. Put some leaves between both of your hands and gently rub back and forth a few times over the white paper. After that, examine the white paper for anything tiny, red or black and crawling. They will be the size of fine ground pepper. If you see this, it's spider mites.
Use an insecticidal soap on the plant and soil to get rid of them. You should do it again in a week to get rid of the newly hatched ones.

Why do plants shed their leaves?

Deciduous trees and shrubs lose their leaves in the fall as a protective measure. Their leaves are tender, and cold temperatures would kill them. Water flowing through their tender leaves would freeze, stopping energy production. Evergreen trees and shrubs, or those that retain their green leaves through the winter, maintain a thick, waxy coating on each needle. This waxy coating protects the leaves against coldEither too much or too little watering may cause leaf drop. A common problem is that when you see leaves droop or even fall off, you may be tempted to think the plant is thirsty and needs more water. This could lead to overwatering and even more leaves dropping. Make sure when watering, especially in northern climates in winter, to use lukewarm water. Icy cold water can chill the soil and injure roots of tropical plants, leading to root rots, leaves dropping, and perhaps even dead plants.SunlightAs the summer days wane, the duration of daylight and the angle of the sun's rays change as the earth moves through space. Plants can sense these minute changes day by day. As the days grow shorter, the lack of sunlight starts to signal a slowdown of food production.Less WaterLess light means less growth and reduced water requirements. Ficus have aggressive root systems and can quickly fill a pot with roots making watering difficult. If your plant is dropping lots of leaves, check to make sure it is not rootbound, if so, consider repotting into a slightly larger pot, or trimming the canopy to reduce the amount of leaves. In general, keep the soil moist, but never soggy wet.Other CausesIf a well-watered plumeria starts dropping leaves during its growing season, it could be infested with spider mites, microscopic pests that create fine, visible webs and can cause leaves to become deformed and fall off an affected plant. You can control mites by spraying the plant thoroughly with insecticidal soap diluted at a rate of 6 tablespoons per 1 gallon of water. A fungal disease called plumeria rust also can cause leaf drop, preceded by yellow-orange spots on the undersides of leaves. Rust is controlled best by clearing debris from under the plant regularly and watering only at the root zone, keeping foliage dry.

How dangerous are tiny white spiders?

What is this with the “white spiders” thing? I am an arachnologist, about half of all young spiders tend to be light colored, but no small spider has the ability to pierce human skin or to inject enough venom to be even remotely significant. There are much more important things to worry about than baby spiders. Even baby black widows (which are usually white or gold) are as harmless as anything!

How dangerous is a very tiny red spider?

What most people think are very tiny (pinhead-size) red spiders usually aren’t spiders but chiggers, a type of mite also called “redbugs.” They aren’t usually dangerous, but their bites can leave an intensely itchy bump for a few days. They do not transmit any diseases in North America, but in Asia and the South Pacific islands they sometimes transmit scrub typhus.
