Smoking Inside Around Children

Are there any laws against smoking around children?

Are there any laws pertaining to how many inches/feet you can have a cigarette around a child? I know in my state, it's against the law to smoke in a vehicle with them but what about outside of the vehicle?

Just asking because my stepson has sores on him he says are cigarette burns. Last night when we were taking him back to his mom, she picked him up and held him with a cigarette in her hand. That's how he must be getting "accidently" burned. Is there a law against this?

Is it illegal to smoke around children?

I was wondering if there was a law that prohibited people from smoking inside a house or car when there are small children under 8 some under 3 present? My main concern is that my girlfriends parents both smoke and do so all through out the house and it drives my girlfriend nuts and she has expressed her feelings to them about how it affects her and the children. So I was hoping there was a law that would enforce this so that the children no longer had to be affected by second hand smoke.

Should smoking in a home with children be considered child abuse?

Its amazing the level of rationalization and denial that an otherwise sane addicted person will indulge in.  Parent smokers will downplay the risk associated with second hand smoke and say that it's a vast conspiracy to victimize smokers, when there's actually no evidence that second hand smoke is harmful.  This is bunk. Nicotine is a carcinogen, no matter how it comes in contact with the body.  It causes cancer.  Second hand smoke causes respiratory problems like asthma.  And it causes lung cancer in non-smokers.  Also, parental smoking is a clear path to youth smoking.  The cigs are available from the parents, the kids try it cause they see the parents using it all the time and you have the next generation of addicts.Cigs are more addictive & arguably more harmful than heroin.  Would it be okay to shoot up heroin with your kiddo bouncing in the swing next to you?  Would smoking just a little crack after work to take the edge off be okay while changing your tot's diaper?  Hell no.  That would be considered abuse.  Just because cigs are more socially acceptable and legal doesn't change the chemical dangers they pose to children. One final thought - a single cig eaten by an unknowing toddler could kill him or her.Exposing kids to second hand smoke should be condemned as child abuse in my opinion.

What does it mean when you dream your child is smoking?

She's worried about what you are doing when she's not around. I don't think that she thinks that you are smoking, I think that she has it in the back of her head that children and teenagers do things to experiment and she's worried about what you might be being exposed to.

Why do parents smoke around their kids?

Almost every single person that smokes knows the risks of smoking a cigarette, or a cigar, whatever the case may be.

So yes, they just don't care. They just don't care, that they could be giving their children lung cancer from second hand smoke(ESPECIALLY if they're under 10 years old).

Obviously, it just gives the child a reason to be rightfully angry when they reach that age when they're smart enough to evaluate the situation and come to realize that their parents are self centered idiots that are not only damaging their own health, but most likely the health of their children.

Is smoking weed around an infant harmful?

How is this even a question? Yes!Even though marijuana has many health benefits, and in many different forms, the smoke from it is still detrimental to the lungs — Not so much for adults, but especially so for infants. Not only that, but the effects of marijuana itself is detrimental to the growth of the infants' underdeveloped brain. It could cause long lasting memory problems.

Do you smoke cigarettes in front of your children?

I heard something about a new law that you can't smoke in a car with your kids. I like the idea of the law but I don't like the fact that the government is telling us that we can't smoke in our own car with our own children. But I was just wondering about other parents who smoke around there kids.
When I smoke in front of kids I always tell them to stay away from me until I'm finished. They aren't allowed to sit on my lap nor by me.
When I'm in the car I always keep the window opened a quite a bit and if it's to cold I open it a crack and keep the cigarette right by the window and blow the smoke directly out the window and if they complain I put it out.
My question is for other people who smoke and have children. Do you follow similar "rules" or different ones?
