Smtp Connection To Yahoo Mail Server Failed - Port 25

I need to know the incoming and outgoing server port with my yahoo acct. to enter in my computer?

In order to use a separate email program, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird, with Yahoo Mail you need to pay for Yahoo Mail Plus. It is also required when you try to transfer the mail using smtp or pop3 to another online email. When you do you can set the servers as follows:
Incoming (pop3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing (smtp) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

As an alternative there is an add on called YPOPS that you can download and try.

How come I cannot connect to my email server?

Step 1
Open a command promptNext Telnet to your SMTP mail server on port 25. For this example I will be using my SMTP server mail.wadadlitech.com and I will access port 25, the SMTP port.

Step 2
Greeting the SMTP serverOnce I make a connection to this port, I should then be greeted by the server with the fully qualified domain name and the date and time. This should be with a 220 event trigger as shown in the below screen shot. At this point I would proceed to greet the server by saying “hello”. In the screen shot you will notice that I type helo not hello.

Step 3
SMTP message formatThe server will return with my mac address and my domain and ip address. At this point I am ready to start creating a sample email to test.

Now start creating the headers for your email. The format is

MAIL FROM: yourname@testwebsite.com
RCT TO: whoever@testwebsite.com
SUBJECT: Anything
DATA [Enter Key][Enter Key]

Step 4
View the test e-mailType your text here then hit “.” to end composition and send the email into the delivery queue. Take a look at the follow screen shot for an example of how the sample e-mail looks.

Step 5
Message is queuedOnce your sample mail is queued for delivery, you can type Quit to exit the telnet session. Once the session has ended the email should be on its way. It normally sits in a mail queue until the mail server forwards it to the recipient.

Hope it helps you.

Smtp.mail.yahoo.com without SSL?

Hello,

Got two question:

1.) I've got an alarm device that automaically used to sent emails to my email address via smtp.mail.yahoo.com port 25.
This has worked until well into December last year (2013).
It now doeasn't work anymore. Settings have remained unchanged (user name, PW etc...).

Error is "Failed to authenticate to smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
When using port 587, it returns the same error.

All other ports need SSL/TLS but the device doesn't support any of these unfortunately (which in this case isn't really necessary).

Does anyone know where the problem could be?

2.) Was looking for an easy to find link to contact Yahoo directly. But where is it? CustServ is only on Facebook and Twitter. How awkward....
Does anyone know the link?

Failed to connect to server?

There are two sets of settings for Yahoo email. The first assumes that you are allowed POP3 access on the FREE accounts. Many of us have to use the PAID Yahoo Mail Plus accounts in order to access POP3 facilities, in which case the second set of settings would apply.

1) Yahoo! Mail Settings (if allowed)

Yahoo Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - pop.mail.yahoo.com (port 110)
Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)

2) Yahoo! Mail Plus email server settings
Yahoo Plus Incoming Mail Server (POP3) - plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 995)
Yahoo Plus Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com (SSL enabled, port 465, use authentication)

If you need to upgrade, go to Options > Mail Plus > Upgrade now > enter your payment details for $19.99 annual fee to complete the process.

I have the same problem. Problem started to appear at least 3 days ago. In my father's account and mine.
It even does not ask for the account password.

The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server smtp.correo.yahoo.es failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. ....."
My configuration:
Outgoing server: smtp.correo.yahoo.es
Port: 465
SSL yes
Send user and password.
Problem experienced in all networks I tried (telefonica, orange, Politécnica de Valencia)

Why is error number ox800CC0E when using outlook express to send mail through yahoo?

If you're unable to send email, try using port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. Here's how to make this change in Outlook:

From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts."
Select your Yahoo! POP account and click the "Properties" button.
Click the "Advanced" tab.
Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP"), change port 25 to 587.
Click "Apply." Then click "OK" and "Close."

How should you set up your email with IMAP and SMTP?

Consult your email provider.SMTP is used to transfer messages between mailservers, i.e. it is used for sending mail. IMAP is a popular protocol for reading mail on a mailserver - reading, deleting, moving between folders. They are two different things, using different ports and possibly even different servers. Normally for a desktop client such as Thunderbird one might use SMTP protocol on port 587 or 25 with STARTTLS encryption to send mail, and IMAP on port 143 (again with STARTTLS encryption) to read mail. Or SSL-wrap encryption on ports 465 and 993. Historically, one could use any outbound SMTP server that worked, but recently (2010’s) anti-spam measures such as SPF make it desirable to use a “correct” one to avoid having email flagged as spam or rejected.
