Can i us Soya Mince to make a snack food?

Soya mince is strangely tasteless. I don't mean just lacking in taste, there are many things like that. Tofu for example needs to be used as a carrier for other flavours. It is more that soya mince seems to grab any flavour going and completely extinguish it. So the first thing you must do is add loads of flavour. Loads of spices, herbs, garlic and onion are definitely in order and most important do not hold back the salt.

Having said that any recipes that can use minced or ground beef work well with soya mince. A snack? Probably a burger is the easiest.

Add water or stock to make it moist. Mix with some finely chopped onion, crushed clove of garlic and some salt. I would add some cayenne pepper or chili powder. Possibly some curry powder. Bind it with an egg to stop it breaking up and shape it into a patty - the flatter the crunchier. Then simply fry it until bored.

All the other snack ideas are burger variants. For example Kuftar Kebabs are simply long thin spicy burgers that look a bit like sausages.

Of course I have many meal recipes but they aren't what I would call snacks.

What is the best late night snack to have if your on a strict diet?

Put a serving of chickpeas (drained and rinsed) in a small bowl and spray with olive oil cooking spray until evenly coated. Add your favorite herbs and spices - try salt, pepper and garlic powder. Then, spread the chickpeas on a nonstick cookie sheet and bake them until they are toasted.
This a great replacement snack for potato chips and other salty snacks. It is nutritious and very filling.

Smiles! ;-) Stay strong.

What are some good snacks?

If you get bored, go to food stores which cater to people from different countries and you will find a lot of snacks you can try out.

I like spicy shredded squid, seasoned dried anchovies with herbs are usually rather spicy, some seaweed snacks are spicy. Indian snacks can be spicy, I like in particular chickpeas, but there are a lot of Indian Spicy snack mixes.

If you like ramen noodles, then nongshim Neoguri (spicy seafood) is really nice and spicy. Good for cold winter days. Korean ramen noodles are better than the American versions.
