Some good Nintendo 3DS games please?

I'm new to Nintendo 3DS and what to buy another 3D game. I already have Mario Kart 7 and that's great.
What are some other good 3D games on the 3DS that I might enjoy, please?

Thanks!

Is the New Nintendo 3DS XL worth it?

There are still some new games coming out for it, but if you buy one, you wouldn't do so for the new games.

You would be doing so to play the back library of games. Of which there are hundreds of games to choose from, so you should like something.

3DS launched in 2011, so there will be over 7 years worth of content by the time games stop coming out for it, likely next year.

Don't forget that 3DS is also compatible with DS games from the previous generation. So you have games that go back as far as 2004 (14 years, again going into 2018) to choose from.

There has to be something you want to play.

Note that network functionality will no longer work in DS games, but they should all work in 3DS games, if supported.

As for my history with the system, I've had a DS since a few months after its launch, upgraded to DSi when it launched, then upgraded to 3DS when it launched in 2011, then the 3DS XL (2012) and the New 3DS XL (2015). Still use it when new games come out between playing games on my Switch (Played through Miitopia and Hey! Pikmin last month).

Do you need an R4 card to play free games on the Nintendo 3DS?

I'd recommend going over that section, as it has a lot of information on the current situation with the 3ds and the flashcarts. They aren't even fully compatible with many of the games out at the moment

What Nintendo 3DS XL games do you suggest? Why?

I've only just started on 3DS, and so far haven't had enough cash to buy any new games but I've got a shortlist of future purchases. Since the Pokemon titles are the only ones on your list not marked as (boring) I'm going to go ahead and assume you like RPGs, so these games may be of interest to you as well.Bravely Default, had some good reviews and looks pretty good, a sequel is on the way as well.Etrian Oddyssey, there are a few in the franchise, they're quite punishing games though, I've played the original title on the DS and it was pretty tough, looking at reviews, I don't think that's changed.Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask, I've played them both before so this is more a nostalgic thing, but they're timeless games.

Do you have any Pokémon recommendations for the 3DS? I am new to the franchise. Thoughts?

Since you have a 3DS, your options are quite wide. The 2 games I’d recommend for you would be Pokémon Black/White for the DS, and/or Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire.Black and White were essentially soft resets for the Pokémon series, where all the Pokémon in the main story of the game were brand new, so your knowledge of past entries isn’t relevant, thus making it inviting to new comers. It also has an interesting story, one of the best characters in the main series, and interesting features like dynamic music. If you’re specifically wanting one that’s just for the 3Ds, Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are the ones to go with. They’re slightly old, so if you’re planning to battle online, you’re less likely to find someone, but you’re also quite likely to find it cheaper than the newer games too. It’s a remake of one of the older games, but doesn’t require you to have any knowledge of the past games. The story is nice, it has a very good post game, and has one of the coolest features in any main series Pokémon game. It also has the new EXP share which you get early on, which makes playing the game a whole lot easier, so you shouldn’t have any troubles playing it.I hope you enjoy what ever choice you make.
