So I Arrived To An Destination The Only Thing I Want To Do Is Fish

Which place is a better honeymoon destination - Mauritius or Maldives?

We have been to both destinations and I would say Maldives is much better given your preference of privacy, peace and calm place. Comparing privacy: In Maldives, every resort is one island. So the number of tourists are less, privacy is more and most of the rooms open to the sea. Beach feels like your own private beach. We stayed in Bandos Island resorts and it was amazing. Mauritius is also good for honeymooners, though it does not offer that kind of privacy. Comparing activities: Water sports is available in both Maldives and Mauritius. SCUBA, paragliding, water scooter etc, dolphin watching, submarine cruise are available at both locations. Unless you opt for a luxury resort in Mauritius, you might have to travel to different locations for different activities. Mauritius has underwater scooter, swimming with dolphins and seakart as well. For ultra-luxury experience, seaplane is also available at both places. However, I am not sure how many activities you would want to do on a relaxed honeymoon. Comparing safety in the night: Given every resort in Maldives is one island, its very safe even in the night. We went long back, but there were no night activities (club/dance etc) at that time. Cultural programs were organized by the resort late evening. Mauritius is more active comparatively during night. Its like many other tourist destinations in India, where you need to be careful a bit.Costs: Mauritius can be done at a much cheaper budget than Maldives. You have option to rent apartments through airbnb, budget hotels are also available. Everything in Maldives is billed in $ and you don't have much option to optimize your food/ activity costs since you are confined to one island. For eg. even in Mauritius, water in restaurants/ hotels is very expensive, but you can walk down to any supermarket and buy in bulk. You don't have that choice in Maldives. Same goes with activities. There is lot of bargain in Mauritius, so beware..never believe the first price you hear.. do your research well before you go...Time: Any time less than a week would not do justice to both the places, and to a honeymoon :)Travel agents: We planned entire trip ourselves and saved quite a lot compared to friends who went with travel agents...

How long can a beta fish live without oxygen in the water?

There's oxygen in the water even when there are no bubbles moving through the water.

Bettas can also breathe air, which is one of the reasons they can live for extended periods in very small containers of water.

Pet stores change the Betta water maybe once a day, not once every couple of hours.

I made about a 9-hour drive with a Betta a couple of years ago, and it did fine. I got one of those foam take-out drink cups (the large size) from a convenience store, filled it half-full of aquarium water, gently put the Betta in the cup, and snapped the plastic lid on the top (the lid has an air hole where you're supposed to stick a straw through the lid). The cup not only contained the Betta; it also insulated it against sharp drops in temperature. I put the cup in the cupholder of the car, and the Betta didn't seem distressed by the trip at all. When I arrived at the new place, he went back in his tank and hardly noticed the change.

Sarah: Technically speaking, Bettas and other Anabantoids are not born with a labyrinth organ. They are born without it, and it develops during the first few weeks of life.

Will my fish die if he rides in a car?

It has the slight possibility of him being too stressed out from the move and die. The water will be constantly swishing and moving. If he had A LOT (and i mean A LOT) of water he might not even notice. But if its a small amout of water, he will feel the water shaking, and get dizzy. 3 hours shouldnt be so bad. When fish are ordered online they might come DOA (dead on arrival) but you cant blame the shipping. It could be a factor. Or it could be you bought sick fish. But thats off subject.

Main point~~ He should be fine, just make sure he has an aquarium thats big enough for him to be happy when he arrives to your home.

And other point~~ somebody told u fish die from riding in cars? why? Does the car eat them? Is the a toxic in the car that kills them? No... its just a possibiltiy.

~~Just saying...

Good luck with transferring your fish :)

Could someone people translate this Chinese proverb for me?

I believe you want 缘木求鱼? It means if you do something the wrong way, you won't achieve what you want. Like climbing a tree to catch a fish.

That would be Meng Zi.

In the days of the warring states, the King of Qi planned to dominate the world. Meng Zi advised him to abandon the use of force and to win by superior governance.
He said "To climb a tree to catch fish would merely end in having no fish. To use military force to further one's own ambition will have disastrous consequences.

While it is correct that most proverbs are short. If you read the sentence the proverb is only in the last part of the sentence and the author clearly didn't remember the proverb only the rough meaning.

Bryan my good man.
1) No where did Alli mention specifically that the entire sentence is the proverb.
2) I agree that it is a very badly constructed sentence. But in many cases, translators do not have the luxury of the source material being anything close to grammatically correct. The important thing is in translating the spirit of the sentence.
3) Can we agree that 缘木求鱼 is probably the correct interpretation IF there is one at all?

Will a person die if he hides in the baggage compartment of plane?

The baggage compartments on commercial airliners are pressurized, and they are kept at temperatures above freezing.  There is also a segment of the baggage area held at a higher temperature, where pets would be stored on the flight. What temperature is it in the baggage hold? I think if you managed to get in to one you'd be fine, but you would be more than a bit uncomfortable.
